Chapter 8
“I’m sorry, Zoe. It was Lila Bennett who lied to me. She claimed she was the one who saved me. Zoe, I never meant to hurt you. Will you come home with me?”
“I know you love me. If it weren’t for Lila Bennett coming between us, we-”
I furrowed my brows and cut him off.
“Zane Cooper, you’ve never understood me. Even without Lila Bennett, we would never have made it. You think you can hurt one woman just for the sake of another? A person like that doesn’t deserve my love.”
Zane Cooper said, “Zoe, I’m sorry. I was wrong. Please, give me one last chance.”
1/13
I had already given him countlessschalmances.
It was him who shattered each one evever and Over
I had nothing left to say to him and turneded to head back to the lab.
Zane Cooper grabbed my wrist, preventingng me from leaving.. Zoe, what do I have to do do for you to forgive me?”
I turned to look att him coldly.
“Unless I’m dead.””
He had taken away my ability to love.
He had given me scars that I would never forget, scars that I would cammy with me for the rest of my life.
2/13
I never wanted to have anything to do with him again.
Zane Cooper’s lips trembled slightly.
I frowned as I looked at him gripping my hand. A wave of disgust washed over me, but I couldn’t break free.
Just then, a cold voice came from behind us.
“Let her go. Then leave.”
My hand was reddened from where Zane Cooper had gripped it.
Colin Shaw lowered his eyes as he applied medicine to my wound.
“That’s the man who hurt you,” he said.
I nodded in response.
3/13
Colin Shaw didn’t speak again. I looked at him and asked,
“Aren’t you going to ask what happened between us?”
His long lashes lowered as he carefully spread ointment over my wound, one spot at a time. Then he said,
“What happened between you and him is in the past. What I like is the you now. If you want to talk about it, I’ll listen. If not, that’s okay too.”
I froze, instinctively asking,
“Why have you been so good to me these past three years?”
Colin Shaw finally raised his head and
4/13
answered seriously,
“I’ve been good to you because I like you. You don’t need to feel indebted.
I know you’ve been hurt, and if my presence makes you uncomfortable, I’ll step back and not disturb you anymore. The choice is yours.”
This was the first time anyone had spoken to me like this.
To truly like someone is to give them complete respect.
The next day, as I boarded the plane to return, Zane Cooper appeared once again.
Holding a bouquet, he stood in the center of the crowd, his eyes red, and said,
5/13
“Zoe, let’s start over. I really can’t live without you.”
Colleagues around us began to tease,
“Dr. Parker, who’s this? Your boyfriend? Won’t you introduce him to us?”
I didn’t even glance at him.
“I don’t know him. He must have the wrong person.”
Zane Cooper froze.
I paused for a moment, then grabbed Colin Shaw’s hand, pulling him in front of my colleagues.
“This is my boyfriend.”
My colleagues erupted in teasing, “Dr. Shaw,
6/13
you’ve kept this under wraps. We had no idea all these years.”
Colin Shaw held my hand in return. “Mm,”
“Because for these three years, she never agreed. I didn’t want my feelings for her to cause her any trouble.”
“Ah, stop showing off!” My colleagues asked, “When’s the wedding, Dr. Shaw?”
Colin Shaw looked at me and said, “When Zoe agrees.”
I smiled.
Those words, word for word, reached Zane Cooper’s ears.
He knew he had lost for good.

VITIES
In the busy airport, Zane Cooper collapsed to the ground.
He knew, he’d never find Zoe Parker again.
He had lost the woman who loved him the most, with his own hands.
The next day, Lila Bennett was arrested for falsifying several results, but somehow was later declared mentally unstable and sent to a psychiatric hospital.
Upon hearing this, Zane Cooper sneaked in and entered her hospital room.
He pulled out a hidden knife, lifted the covers off Lila Bennett, clutched the knife tightly, and with a savage motion, began stabbing her.
One stab after another.

“If it weren’t for you, I would never have lost Zoe.”
Lila Bennett’s body was already mutilated beyond recognition, only able to scream.
Zane Cooper aimed for her heart and struck down.
“Splash!”
Lila Bennett coughed up blood, struggling to escape for her life.
Zane Cooper didn’t give her a chance, continuing to stab her again and again.
Dozens of stabs later, Lila Bennett lay in a bloodied heap on the bed, no longer breathing.

That same day, Zane Cooper sent a report to the police, exposing Caleb Lane’s past murder.
In the end, Zane Cooper also ended up in prison.
Meanwhile, my research in the biological field stirred quite a buzz.
I received numerous awards and was invited to for several interviews.
As I left the building, I overheard reporters chatting, mentioning Zane Cooper’s
situation.
I also heard that someone had dug out their own eyes in the square.
That person was Zane Cooper.

Book 3: My Husband Had Dirty Video Chats with His Sponsored Student
After ten years of marriage, I caught my husband video sexting a girl he was financially supporting.
Hysterical, I demanded to know why.
But he looked me dead in the eye and said, without a shred of guilt, “I’ve been under a lot of stress lately. I just wanted something exciting to take the edge off. It’s not like I actually slept with her. Are you seriously this upset over nothing? If you keep overreacting like this, we might as well get a divorce!”
But when I finally handed him the divorce

papers, he dropped to his knees–begging me to give him one more chance.
