Chapter 3
It turned out that I couldn’t.
I ignored Ivy Rogers, who was crying with a pitiful and charming look, and instead asked the man who stood silently.
“Have you really decided to divorce me? What if I told you I’m pregnant too? Will you be the father of her child, or the father of mine?”
When Caleb Coleman heard that I was pregnant as well, his eyes instantly brightened. “Scarlett, is that true? We’re having a baby?”
I nodded, intending to take out the pregnancy test results I had been holding behind me.

But Ivy Rogers suddenly spoke up. “Caleb, didn’t you promise to be the father of my child? Are you just going to abandon the baby in my belly?”
“Since you’re no longer willing, I’ll just leave,” Ivy Rogers said, her voice heavy with sorrow as she turned to walk away.
Whether intentional or not, her elbow bumped into my stomach.
Caleb Coleman, however, didn’t notice it.
He rushed to catch up to her, grabbed her hand, and anxiously explained, “Ivy, don’t worry. Scarlett has always understood my difficulties. She will understand.”
After calming Ivy Rogers down, Caleb Coleman walked up to me. His tone had lost

its earlier agitation, and he looked at me as if I were a spoiled child.
“Scarlett, stop making a scene. We’ve been trying for a baby for over a year but you couldn’t get pregnant. Now that Ivy’s pregnant, you’re suddenly expecting too?”
“I’ve already explained this to you. Whether you agree or not, this marriage is ending.” With that, he took out the divorce papers he had clearly prepared in advance.
“Sign them. I’ve promised Ivy that I won’t change my mind, no matter what.”
“You don’t want us to have to go through the court for a divorce, do you?”
I gently rubbed my increasingly sore stomach, realizing that the baby could probably sense that it wasn’t wanted by its

father.
1 gave a self–mocking smile.
If that was the case, why force it?
I took the divorce papers from him and signed them decisively.
After I signed, Caleb Coleman hesitated, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, all he said was, “I’ll move out for now. Once the divorce is finalized, you can stay in the capital for a while.”
He then carefully helped Ivy Rogers out.
I waited until I could no longer see their backs, before enduring the growing pain and dialing for an ambulance.
Trembling, I whispered words that no

expectant mother should ever find herself saying.
“911… I think I’m losing my child.”
When it came to Ivy Rogers, Caleb Coleman’s actions were swift.
That very night, he posted on Twitter, acknowledging that the child in Ivy Rogers‘ belly was his.
Immediately, some questioned his infidelity during our marriage, accusing Ivy Rogers of being the third party.
He quickly responded publicly, clarifying that our marriage was purely a business arrangement without any emotional
connection, and that we had long ago agreed

to divorce. He even posted a photo of the signed divorce agreement.
However, the public was not conviviceed, especially since just three days earlier, we had attended a charity gala togetteer, appearing intimate.
Yet, the power of capital was overwhelmingg. Within hours, all the questioning commentss were deleted, replaced with an outpouring off well–wishes.
Several leading streamers, who had a largee following and were vocal in their criticism, either had their accounts banned or receivedd cease–and–desist letters from Coleman’s
legal team.
As for me, the divorced ex–wife, it was as if I had vanished from the face of the earth.

On the day I was discharged from the hospital, it was pouring rain.
When Caleb Coleman appeared from the downpour holding an umbrella, we both froze.
Neither of us expected to run into each other so soon, just days after everything had unfolded
He glanced at me, as if about to approach, but at that very moment, Ivy Rogers walked out.
She happily rushed into Caleb’s arms. “Caleb, why are you here?”
“It’s raining. I was worried about you, so I came to pick you up.”
Under the heavy rain, Caleb Coleman held

the umbrella tightly over her, shielding her from the storm.
Before leaving, Ivy Rogers turned back with a smug smile and softly whispered to me, “Goodbye.”
It was just as I had wanted to say to them: Goodbye, and never again.
A few minutes later, I received a message from Caleb Coleman: “Scarlett, wait for me. I’ll drop Ivy off and come to get you.”
I smiled faintly, pocketed my phone, and without hesitation, ran into the rain. I hailed a taxi and headed straight for the airport.
