Chapter 4
“Babe, they’re just messing with you. You’re way too serious about this,” Ethan said, attempting to calm me down.
I jerked my hand from his, my teeth grinding with frustration. “You guys can keep playing your games. I’m going upstairs to rest.”
Just as I turned to leave, Ethan shoved a glass of milk into my hand. “Drink this first. It’s for your calcium, and then you can go rest.”
I stared at the glass, a strange shiver running down my spine. “What are you up to?”
“Look, I’m just trying to make sure you get the nutrients you need. You’re late in your pregnancy, and I don’t want you to be

calcium deficient. Don’t you trust me?” His voice was laced with false concern.
I shoved the glass away, my voice firm. “I don’t want it.”
His face hardened instantly. “I’ve been more than patient with you today. Drink it. I’m doing this for your own good.”
From behind, another voice spoke, calm yet commanding. “Ethan, don’t be so harsh. She’s pregnant–if Chloe doesn’t want to drink it, don’t force her. You need to be more understanding.”
Hailey stepp Added to the library me a cup of hot water. “Chloe, here. Drink this. It’ll help.”
I grasped the cup, my fingers trembling slightly as I looked at the clear liquid inside. “If I drink this, can I go rest upstairs?”

I swallowed the water in one go. The warmth flowed down my throat, but soon a strange sensation spread through my body, as though hundreds of tiny creatures were crawling beneath my skin.
“What did you put in this?” My voice was shaky, fear creeping in.
My legs grew heavy, as though they were filled with concrete, and I crumpled into someone’s arms. Through blurry eyes, I could barely make out Caleb’s smirk, his hands roaming over me in a disturbingly familiar way.
“Hailey, you really went all out this time. You couldn’t risk the photos not being enough to control her, so you drugged her. Now, even if she uncovers the surrogacy secret, she won’t dare speak. You’ve got her under your

thumb for good,” Caleb’s voice was low and mocking.
“Let me go!” I cried out, desperation filling
- me.
But I couldn’t move. I could only stare at Ethan, silently pleading for him to snap out of his indifference.
Ethan didn’t even look at me; instead, he wrapped his arm around Hailey, a cold sneer on his face. “You two, don’t go too far. After all, she’s still pregnant. The child’s mine and Hailey’s.”
Caleb’s hands moved restlessly over my body, and his smirk deepened. “We know our limits, don’t worry. We won’t hurt your child.”
With casual ease, Caleb scooped me up and carried me upstairs.

I summoned what little strength I had left. “You’ll regret this.”
Hailey’s voice rang out, filled with cruel satisfaction. “Besides the drug to make you want this, I added an anesthetic to your drink. It’ll make you forget the pain. Tomorrow, when you wake up, you’ll still be Ethan’s obedient little pet.”
She raised her glass, the clink of it too sharp in the silence. “Sleep well, Chloe.”
The world around me went black, and I fell
into unconsciousness.
In the darkness, I could feel myself being torn apart, my very soul stretching and breaking with each agonizing second.
When I regained consciousness, I was lying

on the cold, hard floor, blood pooling beneath

“Someone… please help me!” I whispered, crawling towards the door, my movements weak and shaky.
Outside, laughter echoed, mocking me.
“Stop pretending. Your moans were louder than anyone else’s,” a voice jeered. “Go ahead and sleep. You won’t remember anything when you wake up.”
Then Ethan’s voice, cold and distant, filled the space. “Now that the business is finished, let’s move on to the next one.”
The door slammed shut with a deafening finality, leaving me alone in a crushing silence. I struggled to push the door open, but it wouldn’t budge. Blood trailed down
