Chapter 15
Jonah’s parents looked at me like I was the biggest disappointment in the world.
Janelle’s cries filled the packhouse. “Evil woman! She hurt my mom! I don’t want her here! I want my mom!”
Naomi clung to Jonah’s shoulder, her voice soft, almost fragile. “I’m sorry… I only told Greta that I agreed to attend her mating ceremony. I didn’t think she’d take it the wrong way.”
Jonah sighed. “Don’t blame Greta. She didn’t mean it.”
Lying on the floor, humiliated, I let out a cold laugh. “Jonah. The mating ceremony, the attack, the pup–don’t you think I deserve an

explanation?”
His expression tightened, something like panic flickering in his eyes. “What are you even talking about? Your attack has nothing to do with Naomi.”
Naomi gave a small, pitying shake of her head. “I just wanted to support you on your big day, and yet… you lashed out at me.”
Jonah’s patience finally snapped. “Greta, when did you become like this? She was being kind to you and you attacked her? Apologize to Naomi!”
Before I could even respond, his mother stepped forward, her tone cold. “You’re already weakened, yet you still won’t stop causing trouble.”
His father added, “Who else would want a

[Naomi is still willing to attend the ceremony for you. You hurt her and it wouldn’t look good at the gathering. Asking you to
apologize was just for show, nothing serious. My parents didn’t mean what they said, I’ll bring them to apologize after the ceremony. ]
[ Get some rest. I have a surprise for you. When the mating ceremony comes, you’ll love it. ]
But I knew the truth. The whole act wasn’t for Naomi–it was for me. Jonah had played the perfect mate for five years, but now the show was over.
I didn’t go home for the next two days. Jonah didn’t either–too busy handling mating ceremony preparations, making sure everything was perfect.
The morning of the ceremony, I called him.

He barely noticed.
“Make sure the decorations match the theme,” he said to someone nearby.
His Beta hesitated. “Alpha Jonah, are you sure about transferring half the pack’s wealth to Naomi? She’s not Bloodfang. That’s a big risk.”
“Just do it,” Jonah said. “Half is what I promised her. The other half is for my pup. Also, keep an eye out–if anyone from Greta’s family shows up, don’t let them cause trouble.”
When the Beta left, he finally remembered I was still on the call.
“Greta? Sorry, I kept you waiting. The ceremony’s about to start, but I’ll be home soon. Don’t be upset, alright?”

I stared at the plane ticket in my hand, my face unreadable. “Then I won’t keep you.”
He paused, then laughed. “It’s our ceremony. Just wait for me at home.”
I hung up, turned, and boarded the plane.
A message popped up: [ Mating Bond Successfully Severed.]
Jonah, happy mating.
Without hesitation, I deleted his number.
Meanwhile, at the ceremony, Jonah felt a strange unease creeping in. Something about that phone call didn’t sit right.
His expression darkened. “Find Greta,” he told his Beta. “If I were really mating

someone else, there’s no way she’d stay this quiet.”
After the ceremony, Jonah held Naomi’s hand, going around to toast the guests, his face full of excitement.
Then his Beta rushed over, looking pale and shaken. “Alpha Jonah, bad news! Greta boarded a flight this morning… and it just crashed into the sea!”
