I nodded, sensing something was off. I quickly told the students to leave.
They reluctantly said their goodbyes, but when they saw the police, they had no choice but to leave.
After they were gone, the police explained, “Your husband, Edward Scott, is suspected of killing his former colleague Molly Wright. We can’t locate him. Do you have any information on his whereabouts?”
“What?” I feigned shock, but inside, I felt a rush of satisfaction.
He really did it! He gave me such a big surprise!
“After he returned from detention, we had a huge argument, and then he left. He hasn’t contacted me since.”
I took out the divorce agreement. I had already signed it, but the section for his signature was still blank.
“You all should know about my situation already. It’s all over the internet, so I won’t go into detail. I want a divorce. He cheated on me during my pregnancy and caused the loss of our child…” I paused, sinking into sadness.
“That’s why I asked for divorce, wanting him to leave with nothing. He refused, and we had an argument.”
The police listened to my account and left me their contact details, telling me to contact them immediately if I learned

anything about Edward’s whereabouts.
After seeing them off, I heard a noise coming from the storage room. I walked over and opened the door.
It was Edward!
Edward rushed forward, covering my mouth to stop me from calling anyone.
“Sweetie, sweetie, I’ve listened to you. I’ve avenged our child. Molly has paid for it with her life. Can you forgive me now?”
I was terrified and struggled fiercely. When had he returned home? How long had he been hiding in the storage room?
As I reached for my phone, Edward immediately knocked it out of my hand and stomped on it.

“You want to call the police? Sweetie, we’re family. Why would you call the cops? I committed this crime for our child! Why do you want to have me arrested?”
I was startled by his condition, but I also knew that confronting him head–on would only backfire.
I relaxed, allowing him to remove his hand from my mouth.
When Edward saw that I wasn’t struggling anymore, he finally let go, and I let out a sigh of relief.
“When did you get back?”
Edward lowered his head. “Two days ago. I only came out when you were asleep at night.”
tsighed and started to walk toward the living room, but he grabbed my arm, asking anxiously, “Where are you going?”
“To get some water”
I made my way to the living room, and Edward followed closely behind, keeping a wary eye on me.
I approached the kettle, and only then did he relax, thinking I was indeed just getting
water
But in the next moment, I threw the boiling water from the kettle directly at Edward’s face and then smashed the kettle onto his body,
Edward screamed in pain, and I immediately dashed toward the door

The elevator wasn’t on this floor, so I ran for the stairwell, shouting as I went, “Fire! Fire!”
