Chapter 03
“Phoenix, have you lost your mind?”
sighed, closing my eyes, preparing to give him one last chance.
“Edward, where’s your ring?”
Edward absentmindedly touched his finger and realized it was bare. He awkwardly shoved his hands in his pockets. “It’s probably at the hospital.”
I forced a bitter laugh.
I already knew how this would end, but it still hurt like hell.
I pulled out my phone and showed him the photo of Molly from yesterday.

“Your ring is on Molly’s bed.”
“Edward, I’m not the type to cling
desperately. If you’ve fallen for someone
else, then let’s divorce. The child will still call you Dad.”
I had already given up so much, but Edward ripped the divorce agreement into pieces and tossed it in the trash.
“Phoenix, I can’t divorce you. There’s nothing going on between Molly and me. The ring probably just got left there when I was helping her move yesterday.”
“I know you’re emotional during your pregnancy. Just consider it my fault. I admit I lied to you. I’m sorry!”
“If I ever go help anyone move again, I’ll

definitely tell you!”
Edward seemed like he was making a great sacrifice, taking a deep breath, then gently grasping my arms. He made a serious promise.
“Sweetheart, we’ve both been a little on edge lately. Can we not fight anymore?”
“And Christmas is coming soon. We still need to celebrate together, take pictures together. Let’s forget about all of this and live happily, okay?”
He gazed into my eyes, his expression the same as when he’d confessed his love to me in the early days of our relationship.
My heart softened, and I even began to wonder if I had been too suspicious. Maybe it had all been just a coincidence after all.

I nodded, tears falling like pearls on a broken string. Edward. gently wiped them away, pulling me into his arms.
His hand caressed my hair as he softly apologized, “I’m sorry for losing my temper last night.”
Our relationship seemed to ease a bit more, and life slowly returned to normal.
The baby’s condition also improved, though sometimes the little one could be a bit unruly, keeping me awake as it kicked and moved in my belly.
After the argument and reconciliation with Edward, I decided to put extra care into decorating for Christmas this year.
From the food to the decorations, I searched

for numerous guides online and bought a lot of things.
The delivery man nearly turned my entrance into a mini warehouse with all the packages.
On Christmas Day, I finally finished decorating the house.
I propped up my belly, set the wine on the table, and prepared a large dinner, all ready to welcome Edward home after work.
But a call from Edward quickly poured cold water on my plans.
“Sweetheart, the hospital suddenly called for overtime tonight. I might not make it back.”
