Chapter 07
“What are you talking about? Noah is sleeping,” Gavin’s voice came through the receiver.
Then Aaliyah’s sickly sweet voice followed, “Darling, I’m done with my bath, hurry and come to me.”
Then came the sound of the call being disconnected.
I stared silently at the screen, watching the call end.
My heart felt as if it had died, completely extinguished.
Everything between us seemed to have vanished, like water lost in the ocean.

The doctor told me that Noah had not Suffered am fatal Ajuries, but he still needed Ao be monitored for a while.
After an entire day of ups and downs, I was completely dramod of strength.
Thankfully, Boyce was there, holding me up.
“Rebecca, Noah’s fine now. Can you come with me to treat your wounds? I’ve got some new clothes for you, you need to change soon.”
When Boyce said this, I finally noticed the state I was in.
I was covered in dirt, my arms full of cuts
mixed with blood and grime, looking quite horrifying.
“Thank you, Boyce, I’m so sorry for troubling you today!”
Boyce guided me toward the restroom. “If you really feel sorry, then go change your clothes quickly. Don’t make me worry.”
I took the bag from Boyce’s hands. “Boyce, can I ask one more favor? I need you to hire a private investigator for me, someone who can look into my husband–Gavin.”
Boyce looked surprised for a moment, then furrowed his brows.
“Rebecca, don’t worry, I’ll get in touch with someone right away. If you need anything else, feel free to ask. And if you need someone to talk to, I’m here.”

I planned to head home to grab some clothes for Noah and collect anything important, so I asked Boyce to take me back.
As soon as I walked through the door, Gavin’s cold presence hit me.
“Oh, so you decided to come back, he sneered.
I ignored him and walked toward the bedroom.
When I didn’t respond, he became more agitated.
Gavin sized me up with a sneer. “Did you spend the night with that guy who dropped you off earlier? Changed your clothes too. Does he know you’re married?”

I looked at him coldly. “Not everyone is like you–forgetting your wife and having a mistress!”
Gavin seemed taken aback by my cold demeanor, but his anger quickly flared. He shouted my name, “Rebecca!”
He should be surprised. This was the first time we had ever argued.
Since we got together, I’d never fought with him, never said a harsh word. Even when I had to fake kindness in front of competitors, I still came home and greeted him with a smile, always projecting positivity.
Because he was the one I loved.
Now, I finally saw the man standing in front of me for what he truly was–he wasn’t worth my love.

I ignored him and continued upstairs, deciding what I needed to pack.
After I finished gathering my things, I went back downstairs.
To my surprise, Gavin was in the living room, locked in a passionate kiss with Aaliyah.
If this had happened before, I would’ve felt pain, a deep ache in my chest.
But now, seeing this scene, I felt nothing- only relief.
Relief that last night I had still wanted to fix our relationship, which led me to discover the truth!
I walked past them without a glance.

As I was about to open the door and leave, Gavin yelled, “Rebecca, don’t you have anything you want to ask?”
I smiled lightly, turned around, and looked at him.
“I wasn’t planning to say anything, but since you asked, I wish you and Aaliyah all the best together, for the rest of your lives.”
Gavin’s voice grew louder. “Rebecca, what do you mean by that?”
Aaliyah suddenly grabbed Gavin’s hand and began questioning him. “What do you mean by that? Could it be you still have feelings for her?”
I didn’t bother with them. I was done with their petty drama.

Without another word, I left the house we’d shared for eight years.
