Chapter 7
His handsome features twisted into a scowl.
When did his temper get so bad?
“Can’t take it?”
I turned my head, pressed play, and the cartoon resumed.
“I’ve always been like this.”
In the animation, the forgotten people turned into petals.
Just like the day we got married, on the peak of a snowy mountain, the world was pure white, with a sky full of pink romance.
“Let’s get a divorce, Neil.”

I paused for a moment. Saying it out loud felt far lighter than I’d imagined.
“What?” Neil seemed to not have processed it at first.
“Oh, I see,” Neil finally caught on, his anger flaring even more as he threw a stack of photos in front of me.
“That’s why–while everyone’s been looking for you, you’ve been out on dates with Elon!”
“Can’t let go, huh? You regret marrying me?”
“Now you’re in such a hurry to talk about divorce… planning to be with him?”
A sharp slap rang through the room.
Neil’s face turned to the side, a distinct

five–finger mark appearing on his cheek.
“Don’t make me disgusted, Neil.”
“We’ll part on good terms.”
I shook my numb wrist, disgust welling up inside me.
“As you said, don’t argue with me after a long day. I’m tired.”
Neil gritted his teeth, glaring at me. “I’ll overlook that you’re in a bad mood, but stop making a fuss…”
I cut him off. “I’m not making a fuss, Neil.”
I scoffed.
“This time, consider it as me demanding, in my presumptuous and willful manner, that

we end it here. It’s over. Tomorrow, we’ll get the divorce.”
The sooner, the better.
In the car, Neil and I sat in silence.
Neil pursed his lips and said coldly, “Since you’ve made up your mind, don’t regret it.”
I glanced at him. In fact, I rarely acted impulsively.
Even being with Neil had been a decision made after years of getting to know each other.
But unfortunately, it didn’t turn out as I expected.
“I won’t.”

Turning my head, I felt the familiar pain in my stomach again, and I stopped speaking.
Thirty days of cooling off.
I rubbed my temples, forgetting about it before.
“My things are packed, we’ll be staying separately for now.“”
Neil didn’t respond, pulling open the car door.
The stomach pain, which had been lingering quietly, now flared up, making me break into a cold sweat.
I waved him off. “You can go on your own. I have things to do, it’s not on your way!”
Neil furrowed his brow, seeing my pale face, and reached for my cheek.

“What’s wrong with you?”
I swatted his hand away, annoyed. “It’s none of your business.”
He wanted to continue, but I remained firm.
After a tense stand–off, Neil, red–faced with anger, muttered, “Fine, suit yourself.”
He slammed the door shut and sped off.
I paused for a moment and called a cab to the hospital.
Elon helped me out of the car in the parking lot.
I patted his hand, trying to reassure him that it wasn’t that serious and that I was feeling
much better.
