Chapter 11
I watched as her brow furrowed deeper, and couldn’t help but say, “It’s alright, Professor, I’m ready.”
“Mm…” The elderly professor pushed her glasses up and looked at me. “The problem. is right here.”
“Go check again at my place.”
The blood was drawn in several vials, and I joked with Elon, “How much food will I need to eat to make up for all this?”
The professor slammed the paper onto the table, “The machine is malfunctioning!”
I nodded along, then hesitated to ask, “What’s wrong with it?”

“The measurements on your side are inaccurate. These two are obviously contradictory…”
The elderly professor shook the paper, carefully checking on it it with Elon.
I anxiously waited to the side, my nerves frayed.
It felt like a criminal who had been sentenced to death, only to suddenly be declared
innocent.
But then, in the very next moment, to die in a car accident.
I was afraid something like that might happen.
It would be better not to give me any hope.

My heartbeat echoed in my throat as I pressed my hand against my chest, silently telling myself not to overthink it.
“Ahem…” The professor turned around, still wearing a serious expression.
But her furrowed brow had softened-
“Congratulations, young lady.”
“It’s very likely a misdiagnosis.”
The weight of this enormous revelation hit me like a thunderclap.
My heart pounded so loudly I thought it would burst from my chest.
Before I could fully process the news, Elon had already rushed over to hug me.

“I told you there was nothing to worry about!”
I snapped back to reality, and saw Elon standing before me, tears glistening in the corners of his eyes.
The professor watched us separate, a small smile tugging at her lips.
“Don’t get too excited just yet. Go back to the original place where the tests were done and confirm once more… No cancer, but the stomach ulcer is still there.”
The mistakes had been carefully marked, and the professor couldn’t help but quietly ask Elon, “Is she your patient or your girlfriend? You can’t get emotionally involved with your patients, but a girlfriend is fine…”
The professor kept glancing over at me.

The feeling of having fate’s grip around my throat loosened, and I felt a sense of relief flood over me.
I looked at Elon, whose face had turned bright red, and couldn’t help but chuckle. “Professor, I’m married.”
The professor snapped the pen lid shut. “What does that matter? You can still get a divorce.”
“When you reach our age, you realize that following your heart is the hardest thing to do. Enjoy it while you’re young.”
I couldn’t help but laugh, though it was tinged with disbelief.
For the first time in my life, I had an extended break.

Since my birth, I had never had so much time to myself.
As a child, I’d buried my head in textbooks; as an adult, I worked, built my career, and even spent my honeymoon at the company.
