Chapter 2
I never thought my father would forgive me so easily. Tears streaming down my face, I mindlinked him again.
When he heard about his little grandson, his voice filled with
excitement.
You better bring my grandson home with you! He’ll be raised as the rightful heir to our Lycan Kingdom!
I couldn’t control my sobs.
“Mom, why are you crying?” Robert came out of the small room and gently wiped my tears away.
I hugged his small frame and said, “Baby, I need to tell you something. Mommy has to leave Daddy. Will you come with
me?”
“But why? I don’t want to leave…” Robert’s blue eyes filled with pain and reluctance. “Dad loves us, he just… he just…”
His tiny hands balled into fists, unable to find the words.
My heart broke watching him struggle. Even at his young age, he could sense how unfairly Sebastian had treated us.
“Hey, I’ve got an idea,” I said, kneeling to meet my son’s eyes. “Let’s make a deal. Tomorrow’s the fifth anniversary of when

Dad marked me. He promised he’d spend the whole day with us. If he shows up, we’ll give him another chance. But if he breaks his promise again…” I paused, my throat tight. “Then you and I will leave. Together. What do you think?”
Robert nodded, his little face serious. Too serious for a child his
age.
The next day.
After a long day of hard work, Robert and I waited quietly in our
room.
Hours passed, and our stomachs ached with hunger, but Sebastian still hadn’t shown up.
Robert tugged at my sleeve, his eyes glistening with tears. “Mom, is Dad really not coming today?”
I held him tight and stroked his soft hair. “It’s okay, sweetheart. If Dad doesn’t come, we’ll just…”
Just then, a maid appeared at the doorway. “Alpha Sebastian requests your presence in the banquet hall. There’s a family gathering.”
Robert’s eyes instantly brightened. “See, Mom? Dad didn’t
forget about us! He wants us at the party!” The hope in his voice made my heart ache.

“Let’s hurry, we shouldn’t keep Dad waiting!” Robert’s small frame bounced with excitement as he practically dragged me to the party.
But when we entered the banquet hall, my heart sank. Sebastian was holding hands with Nova’s daughter Victoria as they cut the cake together.
His broad shoulders, tall frame, and sharp features gleamed under the expensive chandelier.
But the sight felt like a knife stabbing through my heart.
“Aurora, we’ve been waiting for you!”
Mrs. Holloway, Sebastian’s aunt, came over. “I have great news —Nova is pregnant! She’s carrying Sebastian’s child. The Grand Wizard has confirmed it’s a boy.”
My eyes widened in shock. “What? What did you say?”
So Sebastian organized this family gathering just to celebrate his mistress’s pregnancy?
“Oh, honey,” Mrs. Holloway sneered, her diamond rings flashing as she waved dismissively. “You really think you and your little bastard deserve anything from Silver Wing Pack? How adorably naive.”
“My son is not a bastard!” I snarled, my nails digging crescents

into my palms as I fought to control my rage.

Mrs. Holloway ignored me and simply smiled before excitedly announcing to everyone, “Everyone, I have wonderful news! My nephew, the mighty Alpha of Silver Wing Pack, has chosen Nova as his Luna. Their son will be our future Alpha!”
The Alpha family erupted in celebration.
The irony was bitter–Sebastian had never officially acknowledged me or our son Robert to the pack, but behind closed doors, the Alpha family knew everything. They knew about me, about Robert, and about Nova.
And they’d always made it clear whose side they were on. Nova’s, of course. Always Nova’s.
Mrs. Holloway grabbed my hand, her smile dripping with fake sympathy. “Now, now, don’t get upset. Even though your little boy can’t be the alpha heir, we’ll make sure he’s… comfortable. After all, he is Sebastian’s bastard.”
“I’m telling you, my son is not illegitimate!” My fists trembled with anger.
Sebastian came over and said, “Aurora, calm down. Whether they’re illegitimate or heir, it’s just a title. I’ll love them equally.”
In that moment, Robert couldn’t take it anymore. He rushed forward, clutching Sebastian’s sleeve with his tiny hands.

“Daddy, what about me? I’m your son too! I… I love you so much, Daddy…”
Sebastian froze for a second, then immediately shook Robert’s hand away.
I felt like I’d been struck by lightning, staring at him in shock. “What… what are you doing?”
Was he really rejecting Robert? Was he seriously going to let his own son be labeled a bastard?
Sebastian apologetically said, “Aurora, you know, for the honor of the Silver Wing Pack, it’s better if your son stays… less visible -the family’s advice is right. But don’t worry, I’ll make it up to you both in other ways.”
“And what ways would those be?” I looked at him and asked.
Nova walked over with a bright smile. “Aurora, starting tomorrow, you and Robert can move from the basement to the third floor. You won’t have to do the cleaning work anymore.”
Sebastian wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close. “Nova’s being generous here,” he said, as if he were doing me a favor.
“She’s giving you a new position. You’ll be her personal maid, and Robert can keep Victoria company during her lessons. Much better than scrubbing floors, don’t you think?”

“So this is your way of making it up to us?” I sneered.

I thought my heart couldn’t hurt anymore, but at that moment, I felt it shatter into countless pieces, bleeding raw.
“Why can’t I go to school? Why do I only get to study with her? Dad, it’s not fair!” Robert broke down crying, his small body trembling helplessly.
I hugged him tight, my voice breaking, “Don’t call him Dad. He doesn’t deserve to be your father.”
I faced Sebastian, my voice cold and steady. “Alpha, thank you for going through all this trouble for Robert and me, but from today on, don’t bother anymore.”
Soon, we’d be gone. Far from this place, far from him.
“Aurora…” he tried to grab me, finally showing a hint of panic.
I ignored him and picked up Robert, turning to leave.
“Aurora!” Sebastian stepped in front of me, his face twisted with anger. “Stop being so damn petty.”
Petty?
My tears finally spilled over as endless despair consumed me.

“Do you even know what today is, Sebastian? It’s our fifth anniversary. Remember all those promises you made to me?”
Sebastian froze.
I let out a bitter laugh.
With trembling fingers, I slid off my crystal ring—the one that symbolized my bond with Sebastian.
I let it fall. The sound of crystal shattering against the floor echoed through the room, breaking into pieces just like our relationship had.
