Chapter 6
Surviving the Moon Goddess’s punishment should have been impossible for an omega like me.
And yet I lived.
When I stepped outside with Gabriel by my side, all eyes turned toward
- me.
Whispers rippled through the crowd. Disbelief. Shock. Unease.
Then, Andrew approached–with Elsa at his side.
His expression was unreadable, but there was something strange in his eyes. Something that wasn’t quite anger.
“You’re okay?”
“Lucky to be alive,” I said, my tone indifferent.
Andrew exhaled sharply. Then, to my complete shock, he said-
“Elisabeth, out of respect for your father, I’ll treat you well. From now on, you’ll be given the privileges of a Luna.”
I stared at him. What?
For years, I had been promised the position of Luna–only to be denied it, time and time again.
Andrew always said it was to keep me humble. That I didn’t need special
treatment.
And now, when I was no longer his mate, he was willing to offer it?
I let out a soft, disbelieving laugh. “That’s funny.”
Andrew frowned. “What is?”
“You never let me have those privileges when I was your Luna. But now that I’m nothing to you, you’re willing to give them?” I tilted my head, studying him. “Why now, Andrew?”
His jaw tightened, but before he could answer, I dropped the real question.
“And does Elsa agree?”
A flicker of something passed over Elsa’s face, but she quickly composed
herself.
Andrew’s expression darkened. “Elisabeth, can’t you think more kindly of others? Elsa isn’t like that.”
“Let it go, Andrew,” Elsa said smoothly, giving me a pitying glance. “I’m sure Elisabeth didn’t mean it that way.
The two of them were so in sync, their words so perfectly aligned, that it was almost laughable.
I felt the sharp sting of manipulation.
For so long, I had tried to measure up to Andrew’s expectations. Tried to please him.
But now?
I didn’t care.
For the first time, his words didn’t hurt.

I forced a small smile. “I won’t take up any more of your time, then.”
Then, without another glance, I turned and walked away.
Gabriel followed without hesitation.
Behind me, Andrew’s voice rose in irritation.
“Look at her attitude!”
Elsa sighed. “She’s always been like this, Andrew. Don’t let it bother you.”
“If only Elisabeth could be as sensible as you…”
I exhaled softly, shaking my head. Such a predictable script.
Gabriel glanced at me, eyes unreadable. “You okay?”
I pressed a hand to my chest, testing myself.
Nothing.
No heartbreak. No anger. No sadness.
Just… peace.
A slow smile spread across my face. “Thanks to the Moon Goddess for severing our bond.” I met Gabriel’s gaze, my voice steady. “Now, nothing he does can affect me.”
Gabriel smirked, slinging an arm over my shoulder. “Good. Now let’s go. see Tanya and figure out what’s up with those marks on your back.”

Witches were always a little different.
They lived on the edge of pack territory, secluded, yet powerful.
Tanya was no exception.
Her cottage sat at the southernmost tip of the land, where the sun was the
first to rise.
Her garden was a burst of wild beauty, filled with flowers that changed. scent with the seasons. The air shimmered with unseen energy.
As Gabriel and I stepped onto the worn path, butterflies of an unnatural blue flitted around us.
A welcome.
She knew we were coming.
The wooden door creaked open before we even knocked.
Tanya sat outside in a weathered lounge chair, her silver–streaked hair catching the light. Beside her, a wooden table was set with delicate pastries.
She smiled, eyes twinkling with mystery.
“Sit down, eat something. Then we’ll talk.”
At the mention of food, I realized I hadn’t eaten all day.
Neither had Gabriel.
We didn’t hesitate.
As I reached for a pastry, Tanya studied me carefully, something amused in her expression.
Then, she said something that made my hand freeze mid–air.
“Is the future little witch ready?”
