NICOLE
“We have a son?”
The words hit me like a slap, not because of what he said, but because of the look on his face. Shock. Genuine, raw shock. It made me hesitate for the briefest moment, but my anger wouldn’t let me fall for it.
“Don’t play dumb, Nathan,” I snapped, throwing the medallion that was only associated with his pack at his chest. It hit him and clattered to the ground between us. “I found that at the scene. Your men
didn’t even bother to cover their tracks.”
Nathan stared at the medallion, his hand. twitching like he wanted to pick it up. His gaze darted back to me, something unreadable flickering in his eyes. Regret. No. It couldn’t be.
His voice was quieter this time, less commanding, almost hollow. “I didn’t

know. Nicole, I swear to you-
“Save it,” I interrupted, my claws itching to extend. “I don‘ t have time for your lies. I want him back, Nathan. Now.”
My wolf bristled as the cloying scent of lilacs invaded my senses, followed by the sound of heels clicking on stone. Nadia. Of course, she’d show up now.
“Nathan,” she cooed, sliding up to his side like she belonged there, her hand curling possessively around his arm. Her smug, sultry tone made my stomach turn.
“What’s going on?”
I clenched my fists, forcing myself to stay calm. She wasn‘ t the problem right now. I was here for Daniel. Focus, Nicole, Focus.
But Nathan wasn‘ t looking at her. Hist eyes were locked on me, wide and
conflicted, his voice cracking as he asked again, “Nicole, we have a son?”
Nadia stiffened beside him. “What?” she gasped, her grip on his arm tightening.

I ignored her, my patience wearing thin. “Give him back, Nathan. I’m not leaving without him.”
Something shifted in his expression then- a subtle hardening of his jaw, a flicker of resolve. He stepped away from Nadia, pulling free of her grasp as if he didn’t even notice. His focus was entirely on me
now.
“We had a child together and you kept him away from me for two years? Where is he now?” Nathan asked, his voice low but steady.
I froze, my breath catching. Was he… serious? Did he really not know because he looked like he was ready to kill me for not telling him.
The fear that had coursed through me
when the omega told me he was gone. The fear that had almost gone away when after I went crazy searching his room and found the medallion and was sure he had decided to shift his focus back to me and dig after

shutting down my alliance, found out about Daniel then used the distraction of the body to have his men sneak in and wait till everything settled before they took him.
But if he didn’t send his men… If he didn’t take him…
My heart pounded so hard against my chest it felt like it might shatter. Daniel was still missing, and the horrifying truth hit me all at once: I had no idea where he was.
“No,” I whispered, shaking my head, the word tumbling out over and over again.
“No, no, no.”
My fingers clawed into my hair as I turned on my heel, desperate to go somewhere- anywhere–before the weight of it all crushed me. My wolf stirred restlessly, her pacing only adding to the chaos inside me.
Then I felt it–a hand reaching out, closing around my arm. A spark shot through me at his touch, and my wolf stilled for a moment, startled by the familiar energy.

I yanked my arm away as if his hand had burned me. “Don’t you ever touch me again!” I snarled, my voice trembling with fury.
Nathan’s eyes flared with his own anger, his wolf flickering in his gaze. “Where do you think you‘ re going?” he demanded, his tone sharp, cutting.
“To find my son,” I spat back, the words. tearing from my throat like a primal scream. “Or did the years make you deaf? Did you not hear me when I said he was taken–from my pack–and now I can’t find him?”
The weight of my own words hit me like a tidal wave, forcing the air from my lungs. I can’t find him.
I can’t find him.
Nathan’s voice broke through my rising panic, “No. You and I are going to find OUR son. Together and when we do, they’ll wish they never touched what s
