After Ethan finished treating my injury, he had to leave again due to a phone call.
I touched the wedding ring on my finger, feeling a warmth in my heart.
It seemed that marrying him might not be so bad after all.
That summer dragged on with a long tail that refused to end.
The news agency transferred me from the entertainment section to the finance section, still working as a writer.
The same day, Nathan parachuted into the company as my direct superior,
Sophia became his personal secretary.
One day, I again overheard Sophia’s voice outside the restroom.
Restrained, aggrieved, coquettish tones.
“How cheap are you, Sophia?” Nathan’s voice held anger.
They must be fighting again.

Sophia refused to back down. “I’m cheap? Go find that stammerer then… Mr. Fu can’t handle fine cuisine, he prefers rotten food.”
“Yes, even rotten food tastes better than you.”
Nathan was vicious, making Sophia cry.
I just found it distasteful.
As a result, Nathan who had been out of contact for so long sought me out that very day.
“Little stammerer, where have you been this past month?”
He pinned me against the entrance, his voice teasing but his eyes full of coldness.
I coldly avoided his touch. “We’ve already broken up.”
A dark look flashed in Nathan’s eyes as he gripped my chin, forcing me to look at him.
“How come you’re not stammering anymore?”
“Get lost!”
I had speech therapy every week.
I couldn’t manage long complex sentences.
But cursing was no problem.
Perhaps because he had fought with Sophia, Nathan was in an obstinate mood.
He ignored my struggles and forcibly dragged me to his car.
“I’m calling the police!”
Nathan tossed my bag into the backseat and locked the doors decisively.
“What police? Didn’t you want to meet my family?”
“There’s a family dinner today. My grandfather and brother will both be there. I’ll introduce you.”
My heart sank. “Nathan, I’m married.”
Nathan slammed his fist on the steering wheel.
The car let out a short honk.
“Which blind idiot married you?”
The flash of viciousness in his eyes disappeared when he saw my ring.
“I knew it… how could it be possible.”
He let out a mocking laugh. “Don’t lie to me. This cheap ring doesn’t even have a diamond. The one who married you must be a pauper.”
I had chosen this ring myself.
The cheapest one in the jewelry store.
Because I didn’t want to be too conspicuous.
Ethan’s was even plainer.
But he still wore it.

Seeing me glaring at him warily, Nathan’s mood improved greatly.
“In this world, anyone who dares to steal from me Nathan hasn’t been born yet.”
“If you’ve got the guts, let your husband come fight for you at the Fu house.”
Nathan drove like a maniac all the way to the Fu family dinner.
My phone rang non–stop in the backseat.
When we arrived, I had to take a moment to quell my nausea before Nathan dragged me inside.
My eyes met Ethan’s as he leaned by the villa window on the phone.
His fingers still held a nearly burnt–out cigarette.
His brows were cold and stern.
He seemed to be dealing with some thorny problem.
Seeing me, Ethan slowly lowered his phone, his gaze falling on where Nathan was gripping my wrist.
For some reason, it sent chills down my spine.
The one who had been calling me just now… it couldn’t have been him, right?
I tried to pull my hand away, but Nathan wouldn’t let go.
Instead, in front of everyone, he dragged me straight to Grandfather Fu.
“Grandpa, this is my girlfriend.”
“I’m not “I hurried to explain.
But Grandfather Fu spoke decisively. “I know you’re one of the students our family sponsored. You’re a good child. Family background isn’t an issue. As long as the person is good and loyal in love, I approve.”
Nathan’s eyes swept the corner of the room.
Only then did I see Sophia was there too, sitting alone with a dejected look.
Utterly forlorn.
Her lips were pale from biting them.
Was this just to make Sophia jealous again?
But I was long sick of all this.
I firmly pushed Nathan’s hand away. “Mr. Fu, I’m married.”
Grandfather Fu was taken aback. “Such a big event, why didn’t you all say anything?”
“Not to Nathan, to someone else.
When Ethan heard “someone else,” a hint of displeasure crossed his face.
He turned away with his wine glass to go elsewhere.
I didn’t notice and continued speaking: “I’m afraid the person Mr. Fu most wants to marry now is Miss Lin.”
“He took Miss Lin to a hotel while we weren’t even broken up yet, and didn’t respond to me for a month. I assumed we had broken up. Now that Im married, he still wants to interfere in my family. Isn’t that going too far?”

The people who had been waiting to congratulate us suddenly went quiet, ears perked to listen to the gossip.
Some even joked: “Oh my, the young master is cheating again and being a homewrecker. Quite the player, huh?”
The words were harsh.
But it felt good.
Nathan hadn’t expected me to be so direct. “Who taught you to talk like this!”
“No, wait, when did you become so articulate-”
Grandfather Fu’s cane came down on Nathan’s leg.
“What kind of trash is Sophia? You dare to marry her!”
Nathan grunted in pain. Sophia suddenly rushed over from the corner.
“Grandpa, don’t hit Nathan. Hit me instead if you must!”
The scene instantly descended into chaos.
I quietly backed away, about to leave.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed my arm and yanked hard.
I stumbled into an unlit room.
Accompanied by a faint click.
The door locked.
Then a low voice sounded by my ear.
“Olivia, I’m ‘someone else‘?”
