Abona face changed several times with just one sentence. Her earlier smugness disappeared, replaced by a look of embarrassment. She understood the implication: Dolores, as Adam’s wife and family, did not need two invitations.
Alison wanted to snap back, but noticing Philip still standing there, the swallowed her words. Then she turned to Philip and said. “Mr. Wood, Ill rely on you to keep an eye out for Doreen. Even though she’s not official, with your respected status, it should be easy for you to find this freelance restorer. I’m willing to pay whatever she asks if she’s willing to take the job.

After work, as soon as Dolores left her studio, she saw Adam’s car parked at the door. The custom Bentley with a flashy license plate was rare even in a neighborhood filled with luxury cars, let alone in a place like this, drawing many eyes naturally.
Dolores phone vibrated with a message from Adam. [Come here.] Dolores ignored it and started walking towards her apartment complex. She didn’t want to be the center of attention or the subject of tomorrow’s gossip. The people at the Walcott Group had always mocked her for having a ⠀nch boyfriend. She hated that feeling.
Adam watched her walk away and narrowed his deep eyes, letting out a chilling laugh. Dolores hadn’t gone far before his car followed. The window polled down, and Adam’s cold voice sounded. “Do you want me to force you?”

In the bathroom, Dolores locked herself in a stall, feeling drained. She hadn’t seen that watch since their wedding three years ago. If it were not for that watch, I wouldn’t go to the wrong bed and have ended up in this miserable marriage, she thought.
Dolores didn’t know how long she stayed there until she heard voices. “Dolores still has the nerve to show up! If I were her. I’d drown myself after Theo posted that recording someone said.
