Dolores was furious at his words and turned to glare at him. “If you think this reason da ages your ego, you can use another. Like how I feel nauseous and disgusted every time I see you, to the point that I can’t function normally in a marriage”
“Dolores” Adam growled through gritted teeth, his eyes blazing with a desire to tear her apart.
Afraid Adam might do something outrageous in his rage. Dolores softened her stance. “Whatever the reason, we’re going to end up divorced. Look an any other couple, and none of them live like we do.
As Dolores thought about the

years of their torturous marriage, the times she greeted him with a smile only to be met with cold indifference. and the meals she made that went straight to the trash without a glance, the resentment piled up, too overwhelming to suppress
Adam stared at Dolores, his expression dark. Her eyes were slightly red, yet she was very stubborn. His throat tightened with irritation. Then he closed his eyes and lay down. “Sleep.”
Dolores found herself in Adam’s arms, her face against his chest, enveloped in his scent. It was the first time he had ever held her since married They had always slept separately, at least an arm’s length apart.

Adam had just taken a bath, his body cool, but he soon warmed up, making Dolores feel like she was holding a heating pad. It was uncomfortable. so she tried to turn and face away from him.
Adam’s voice was rough and a bat raised. “Stop moving. Sleep.
Dolores, already sweating from the heat, couldn’t detect the change in his tone. “Don’t hold me, it’s uncomfortable”
Then Dolores lifted her leg instinctively, trying to push him away a bit, but her knee accidentally brushed against something. She froze, then exclaimed, “You….”
Adam’s voice remained calm. “Mrs. Walcott, I may not be interested in you, but I’m not impotent. If you keep moving. I’ll take it as an invitation. Even plain water can quench thirst when there are no other options.”

If Adam ever
dead in a ditch, it must be because of his mouth and words, she thought. Dolores‘ gaze fell on the fading red mark on his neck. By tomorrow, it would probably be gone.
“Go find the woman who left that mark on your neck and leave me alone, Dolores snapped.
Almost immediately, Adam’s lips were on her neck, not kissing but sucking.
Dolores winced in pain, pushing him away forcefully. “Adam, are you crazy?”
Adam released her and said. “Before me, you never had a boyfriend, right?”
Dolores didn’t know where he was going with this and gritted her teeth. “If I had known I’d marry you, I would have dated a new man every week,
Dolores touched the spot he kissed. And there must be a mark. Meanwhile, it was summer, and she wore low–necked clothes, making it impossible
to hide.
Adam snorted. “You’ve never dated and have no experience, so let me teach you. This is a hickey. Don’t assume every red mark on someone’s neck h from a kiw,”
Dolores was stunned. Does he mean that the mark on his neck isn’t a hickey! Hut whether it’s or not, he shouldn’t treat me this way. We’re getting divorced, she thought
Dolores turned away from him, not wanting to deal with him anymore. She closed her eyes in anger, forcing herself to sleep,
Adam looked at her figure. He had to admit, she was soft like she could be squeezed and water would come out. Feeling a surge of heat, he suppressed his desite and calmed his breathing.
The next day, Adam and Dolores went to the hospital to get Yara’s check–up report. The doctor looked at the results, his brow furrowed.
Dolores felt a sense of foreboding. “Is there a problem?”

“I for the results, it appears the patient has hypertensive heart disease caused by long–term high blood pressure. Her frequent fevers are likely due to her weakened immune system from years of physical strain,” the doctor explained.
Dolores focused on the heart disease. “Can it be treated?” she asked.
“Hypertensive heart disease can’t be cured as the underlying cause is difficult to eliminate. It can only be managed to slow its progression. The patient needs to watch her diet, get moderate exercise, and most importantly, avoid emotional stress,” the doctor advised.
In other words, it was a chronic condition requiring constant care. As they left the hospital, Dolores exhaled a long breath. She checked the time, washing it were Monday so they could go to the city hall.
“When are we going to finalize our divorce?” Dolores asked impatiently.
“So eager?” Adam responded.
Dolores thought, ‘Eager! This should have been done long ago
Then Dolores bit back her frustration, suspecting Adam was dragging things out intentionally. “I’m worried Alison won’t wait for you. She came back from abroad; you should hurry and tie her down before she leaves again”
Adam
gave
her a cold look. “Dogs need leashes
“‘Aren’t you two just a pair of munts? Dolores thought. But she didn’t dare say it, fearing he might hit her.
A moment later, James drove the car over. Adam told Dolores to get in, but she stood still.
e we can part amicably
“Ill take a cab.” Dolores said, issuing her final ultimatum. “Monday is my deadline. We’ve been married for three years; I hope we without taking it to court and making it a public spectacle,”

Dolores didn’t respond, which was answer enough for him,
Adam sneered, “You left so much stuff at home. Isn’t it because you want to come back anytime Playing hard to get will only make people despise you
Dolores rolled her eyes. ‘How could he still think that way?‘ She couldn’t help but retort, “Adam, have you never washed your face since childhood!” So thick–skinned! she thought.
“Those things are things I don’t need. Throw them away or burn them,” Dolores said.
Adam storted, “You’re divorcing me and still want me to do things for you? Clear out your garbage yourself and show me your determination before we talk about the divorce.
“Then let Lydia throw them out,” Dolores replied. Lydia was the housekeeper at Calancho Manor and certainly adept at handling garbage.
Adam’s smile was cold. “Dolores, you haven’t paid a cent for household expenses since we married. Everyone’s salary comes from my account. What makes you think I should ask my staff to help you!*
“Then I’ll hire movers to take them away,” Dolores replied.
“I don’t like strangers rummaging around my home.” Adam said sternly.
Dolores‘ eye twitched. “You won’t allow this, won’t allow that. What exactly do you want?”
Adam didn’t answer, looking at her like she was an idiot.
Dolores let out a heavy breath and said nastily. “Since you’re so particular, you should live alone. So nobody will touch the ground and dirty your
house
Adam’s face darkened instantly. “Are you tired of living?”
