Chapter 20
One of the bodyguards immediately shifted into a defensive stance. In contrast, several others stood in a tense standoff, ready to
act.
Asteria calmly gestured for them to stand down, her gaze steady as she met Primo’s
eyes.
“I’m asking you, who are you?”
The question carried more weight than it seemed. “Who are you to think you can still control my life?”
Primo didn’t like seeing Asteria like this; it was so distant and cold. It felt like a
stranger stood before him, and an unsettling unease gripped him.
His emotions, once so tightly held together, began to unravel.
“Asteria, stop playing these games!”
“I know this is just to get a rise out of me,

but can you at least have a little self- respect?”
“I don‘ t want to see you destroy yourself like this. I’ve forgiven you for your infidelity, for your betrayal. Come home with me. Do you want to keep going down this path?”
Asteria froze for a moment; then, a sharp laugh escaped her lips, full of bitter anger.
She straightened her coat with a lazy shrug, too tired to even bother arguing anymore.
Coldly, Asteria responded, “Why would I need your forgiveness?”
“I saw you dancing with a topless guy. Isn’t that cheating?” Primo’s voice trembled with frustration. “Asteria, don’t forget your place. This is no environment for someone like you. I love you, and that’s why I choose to forgive you. Think about it; without me, can you really do better than this?”

full of arrogance, was now consumed by jealousy over a male model.
But for Asteria, Primo was no longer the center of her world at that moment. The male models, at least, had brought her real joy.
Her patience was waning, and she spoke sharply, “Primo, listen carefully, we‘ re done.”
“Who I date, what I do, it’s none of your concern. Instead of wasting your breath lecturing me, why don’t you clean up your own mess?”
Asteria couldn‘ t comprehend how Primo. had the audacity to point a finger at her when he had his own skeletons to face.
In Primo’s mind, his kiss with Yesha before their wedding didn’t count as cheating.
His fleeting thoughts of Yesha while Asteria lay in the hospital after her miscarriage didn’t count as cheating.

Making Asteria into a stand–in for Yesha didn’t count as cheating.
But Asteria, after their breakup, stepped into a bar–now that was the ultimate betrayal.
It was a joke, a mockery.
But Asteria wasn’t going to waste another word. She signaled for the bodyguard to take her home.
Primo followed closely, unwilling to let her
- go.
He watched her slim, unwavering form beneath the moonlight, his chest tightening with frustration.
“Asteria, we’ve both made mistakes.
Why can’t we rise above this and forgive each other?”
“Over twenty years of history… do you really think you can just forget it all?”
The breeze brushed against Asteria’s face, carrying away the lingering sorrow inside

her.
She didn’t turn around, but her voice was steady and cold. “I can forget.”
“When you cheated on Yesha, didn’t you forget about me without hesitation? The pain you could withstand, I can endure it too.”
“So stop wasting your time. Go back to Yesha, or find someone else. Just stop following me.”
Asteria kept moving forward, her gaze fixed ahead as her steps led her into the night.
She wasn’t like Primo, forever tangled in the past, clutching at shadows that no longer mattered.
It wasn’t until Asteria‘ s figure faded into the darkness that Primo, defeated and broken, turned away and headed back to his residence.
