Chapter 26
“Asteria, I will do everything I can to fulfill all your wishes. Come back home with me, please?”
The sky stretched endlessly above, yet it had a certain emptiness.
When one gazed at the stars alone, every part of them, except for the eyes, felt abandoned.
This was a kind of loneliness Asteria had known too well.
She no longer wished to remember it.
As for the regrets…
Those belonged to Primo.
She had already fulfilled most of her dreams on her own, and she no longer fought for the ones she couldn’t reach.
Regret was a part of life–it taught you to cherish the present.

Without another word, Asteria turned away and walked back to her room.
Everything behind her ceased to matter.
She didn’t dwell on that night. She simply moved forward, step by step, in her chosen life.
But Yesha, who had witnessed everything that night, couldn’t bear it.
She couldn’t stand to watch Asteria live a
life better than hers.
She couldn’t accept that after all her schemes, everything had fallen apart at the
final moment.
What she couldn’t bear the most wasn’t
that Primo had ignored her frantic attempts, nor that he refused to even see
her.
It was what Primo had said to Asteria on
her birthday.
From a young age, Yesha‘ s mother had taught her that their wealth and power had

been taken from other women.
If they wanted something, they had to fight for it.
So Yesha had learned early to take Asteria‘ s dolls and steal her father’s
affection.
Every year, on Asteria‘ s birthday, Yesha would blow out the candles first.
No matter how much she tormented Asteria, whenever Asteria cried, everyone would rally around her.
Asteria had gone from resisting to quietly enduring.
She thought she had won.
One day, Yesha saw Asteria slip out of the house and share a strawberry cake with Primo under the stars.
Primo smiled at Asteria and said, “Asteria,
I’ll work hard for you. I’ll make sure you live the best life!”

Asteria grinned and smeared cake on his face, and they playfully wrestled.
That pure, unguarded laughter was something Yesha had never known.
At that moment, something inside Yesha hardened. No matter how long it took, she
would take Primo from Asteria.
This time, Yesha was determined. She
wouldn’t let Primo return to Asteria.
After much thought, she finally came up with a plan.
Since she couldn’t reach Primo, she would target Asteria instead.
Yesha slipped into the most expensive outfit Primo had bought for her, strutting like a peacock, her eyes locked on her
target.
She stormed over to Asteria and threw the missing pages from the diary right in her face.
“I’m here to tell you two things,” Yesha

declared, her voice sharp.
“First, I’m pregnant. Second, the person Primo has always loved is me. You can give up on him!”
Just half a month ago, Asteria had desperately wanted to know what those.
pages contained.
Now, she simply stepped on them with indifference.
“Are you done?” Asteria asked coolly. “If you’re done, leave.”
“From now on, if either you
if either you or Primo ever show up in front of me again, I’ll call the police.”
Only those who weren’t content with
their current lives clung to the past.
