Chapter 27
Asteria’s career flourished, her family was happy, and life was fulfilling. She had no time to dwell on such things.
But Yesha, unable to let go of the past, thought Asteria was somehow provoking her, standing in her way.
“Stop pretending,” Yesha sneered. “I don’t believe you don’t care at all!”
“You don’t know, but eight years ago, we slept together. You have no idea how amazing he was. He held me and said you were nothing but a tasteless, boring old fool.”
“Yes, his kissing skills were incredible. But since then, he hasn‘ t kissed you even once. In his eyes, you don’t even come close to me!”
She went on, recounting every intimate moment she and Primo had shared during that time.

The things Asteria had longed for her entire life were nothing more than simple, ordinary moments to Yesha.
Primo, who was always stern and serious in public, could be wild and carefree with her.
And when Asteria had been sick, Primo hadn’t even found the time to take her to the hospital.
But Primo had found time to carry the injured Yesha on his back, running across three streets without a second thought.
He didn’t have time for a honeymoon with Asteria.
But during their hardest days, he’d used the savings they‘ d earned together to take Yesha on a trip.
“So, do you understand now? It’s not
about time; it’s about love.”
“He just didn’t love you enough.‘

Chapter 27
Tears slipped down Yesha‘ s cheeks, but they weren’t soft, sorrowful tears.
They were a release, a long–suppressed flood of emotions she could no longer
contain.
Asteria didn’t understand why Yesha was crying. She hadn’t said a word nor done anything to provoke it.
“You‘ re right.”
Asteria had no intention of wasting time on this. She had plans to meet friends for a
swim.
As for who Primo loved, she no longer
cared.
The day she’d walked away from him, she had already made up her mind.
All the talk about white moonlight and red roses had only been fueled by desire.
The truth was, the only person Primo ever truly loved was himself.

He wanted a virtuous wife who would love
him without question and take care of everything for him.
And he craved a passionate lover who would ignite his desires and lead him into thrilling new experiences.
But Primo, so proud of his purity, refused to acknowledge his true desires.
He could only paint Yesha as the unreachable lover, a love he could never have.
Through that lens, he hoped the dark and sordid truths could be transformed into something pure and beautiful.
They’d known each other for over twenty
years.
Asteria had seen through Primo long ago, understanding him better than anyone ever could.
All the past was simply a veil of love, blinding them both.

Asteria’s cold indifference only fueled Yesha’s rage.
She couldn’t stand being dismissed so easily.
She had braced herself for a fierce battle, and she was determined not to lose without a fight.
The fury surged through her, stripping her of reason.
When she saw Asteria heading toward the street, Yesha couldn’t stop herself. She shoved Asteria into the path of an oncoming car.
“Asteria!”
In a flash, Primo appeared out of nowhere, rushing forward to pull Asteria into his
arms.
His back slammed hard against a fire hydrant.
It all happened too fast for Asteria to
process.

She was still catching her breath when she saw Primo slap Yesha across the face with a force that echoed in the tense air.
“Yesha, who gave you the right to hurt Asteria?”
