“Elizabeth, I’ll always be by your side. I’ll never be like Esme.” Lila held Elizabeth’s hand, her eyes full of sincerity.
She would be Elizabeth’s best friend for life. And she would never betray her and would always support any decision she made!
“Got it.” Elizabeth always believed that Lila would be her lifelong friend.
Lila squinted and smiled, her eyes incredibly gentle.

When Kieran glanced over, he saw Lila smiling so beautifully.
Lila’s smile for Elizabeth was genuine. Her smile for Kieran was just perfunctory.
“Did you bring a driver? Want to have a drink?” bila handed Elizabeth a glass of wine.
After all, it was a banquet, and having a drink would make it more interesting.
Elizabeth thought that one drink shouldn’t be a big deal.
She then clinked glasses with Lila, only to find that after the first drink, there was a second.
