Billionaire’s Second Chance: Winning Her Back
Chapter 10 Your Husband is Really Something
I had no clue what got into Christopher. “I was out with Elissa, and bumped Into Cecil. He just gave me a ride hack. Ivan was there too. Ask him if you don’t believe mu.
Cecil kept smiling. Too bad I’m still single. Christopher, I envy your perfect family.”
Christopher raised an eyebrow. “Maybe Ivan can set you up. What ty do you like? Still into those college girls?”
Cecil gritted his teeth. I never had a girlfriend in college. But you, Christopher, you got so many love letters they couldn’t fit in a
dorm room.”
Maybe it was the pregnancy, I was getting more and more tired. After a day out, I was exhausted. I cut in before they could go on. “You guys chat. I’m beat. Heading to bed.”
I didn’t wait for a response and went straight to my room.
When Christopher came upstairs, I was just out of the shower. He grabbed me and pulled me back in. “Shower with me,” he said, leaving no room for argument.
“No.” I protested, but he pinned my wrists above my head, trapping me between him and the tub. “Why not? Your period’s over, right?”
couldn’t tell him I was in the early stages of pregnancy and shouldn’t be doing anything too intense. Before I could think of ant excuse, he spread my legs and entered me forcefully. The pain was excruciating, and I eventually passed out.
When I woke up, it was already noon. Starving, I went downstairs and noticed an extra suitcase in the living room. I heard voices familiar ones–besides Donna’s. I frowned and looked around, finally spotting Christopher in the kitchen, cooking with Evelyn helping him.
He reached out, and Evelyn handed him salt. Another reach, and she gave him a paper towel. They were in perfect sync. Each move felt like a slap to my face. I felt a chill despite being at home.
“Hope, you’re up!” Evelyn greeted me with a smile. “Come try Christopher’s cooking. It’s delicious.”
She carried a dish to the table, acting like she owned the place. I took a deep breath, ignored her, and asked Christopher directly, “Why is she here?”
Christopher had promised Evelyn wouldn’t set foot in our house again. He plated the last dish, took off his apron, and said coldly, “She’ll leave after this meal.”
“Really, Christopher? You’re kicking me out?” Evelyn glared at him.
“Evelyn, don’t push it. Don’t cause trouble,” Christopher said, his patience clearly wearing thin.
“Fine, fine,” Evelyn muttered, pulling me to the table. It was as if she hadn’t been the one crying and begging Christopher to divorce me yesterday. As if she hadn’t schemed to get him away from me,
Christopher’s cooking was great, no doubt about it. I needed to eat for the baby. If Evelyn could be shameless, so could I. I sat down and started eating.
“n’t it good?” Evelyn asked lightly.
I’smiled. “Yeah, he’s a great cook. He always cooks when he’s home.”

Of course, that was a lie. I wanted to stake my claim. Evelyn glanced at Christopher. “Didn’t know you were this good to others too.”
“Can’t you eat without talking? Christopher scoffed, handing me some ribs.
Evelyn huffed and said to me, “You know why he cooks? I taught hire Especially the tomato tart–my favorite. He puts extra effort into that. His pasta’s great too, but I got tired of it. Now he only makes it when he’s Inzy.”
My grip on the fork tightened, my nails digging into my palm. So, the pasta I loved was just leftovers from someone else. I remembered asking him on our anniversary where he learned to coo He’d spaced out for half a minute.
“Really, you should thank me. Without me, you’d never have such a great husband.”
The meal made me nauseous. The urge to vomit and the pain in my lower abdomen hit me all at once. I tried to stand, but the pain was too much. I felt dizzy and collapsed.
“Hope!” I heard Christopher’s panicked voice before everything went black.
