Chapter 18 Resignation Request Blocked by Christopher
This question left me speechless.
I didn’t want to He to Bentley, but if I told the truth, he definitely wouldn’t let us get divorced.
Christopher’s eyes were locked on me.
After a long pause, before 1 could say anything. Bentley seemed to get it. “Alright, I understand, just do me a favor; Christopher grew up without a mother, which is why he’s got this ad temper. Din’t hold it against him.”
Then Bentley grabbed Christopher’s ear. “If you think I’m living too long and getting in your way, just go ahead and piss me off to death. Once I’m dead, no one will stop you from getting a divorce!”
“You’re threatening me with your death now?” Christopher asked..
Bentley glared at him. “Watch your mouth!”
Bentley, furious, was about to hit him again, but this time, Christopher dodged and said, “I get it. I don’t care. Ask her.”
After that, Christopher glanced at his watch. “I have a meeting to attend.”
He left smoothly, leaving me alone with Bentley.
After a moment, Bentley spoke earnestly, “Hope, I’m not forcing you to agree to anything. I just don’t want you two to have any regrets. You have feelings for him.”
Then he pointed to his heart. “I can see it clearly. Evelyn is too complicated and not suitable for Christopher.”
I said, “But he’s in I
love with Evelyn.”
Bentley sighed, “He can’t even see his own heart.”
Bentley slowly stood up. “But you, one day, you
see it clearly. Promise me, give it another try with him, okay?”
At this point, I couldn’t say a
say anything else and had to agree for now,
After Bentley left, I placed the agreement on the table, staring at the large words “Divorce Agreement,” feeling a bit lost.
“Didn’t realize you had the skill of retreating to advance,” Christopher’s casual voice sounded.
Christopher had returned from his meeting.
I frowned. “What do you mean?”
Christopher sneered, “If you really wanted a divorce, why tell Bentley so soon?”
“You think I told Bentley?”
“Who else but you?”
Suppressing the bitterness in my heart, I looked seriously into Christopher’s eyes. “I didn’t know you married pie because Bentley asked you to. I never intended to take the Valence family’s money. return the fifteen percent shares to you, but I won’t give up what I deserve.”

mocked, “Christopher, I didn’t expect you to be such a good actor. u fooled me for three years. Sleeping In the same bed with someone you don’t love must have been hard for you.”
I pushed the divorce agreement in front of Christopher, enunciating ach word. “Please sign it so we can finalize the divorce as soon as possible.”
A look of surprise crossed Christopher’s usually composed face..
Didn’t you agree with Bentley’s request?”
I replied calmly, “I did. I’m just worried about Bentley’s health. He’s d and cart handle the shrick, Well finalize the divorce and keep it from Bentley.”
Just thinking about what I overheard outside the door leaves me will no desire to continue with him.
I couldn’t shamelessly stay with the Valence family or by Christophers side.
Christopher seemed to laugh out of anger. “You can’t wait, can you?s the person you love urging you?”
I looked at him, feeling he was beyond help. “Christopher, not everyone can cheat in a marriage and still feel guilt–free like you.”
Christopher looked at me. “I cheated?”
I said calmly, “Didn’t you? You claim it’s to repay a debt, really? You abandoned your newlywed wife for Evelyn, frequently stayed out all night, and broke promises for Evelyn repeatedly! Just because you put a hypocritical excuse on cheating doesn’t mean you can cover up the truth!”
Christopher was slightly taken aback. “So you care that much about Evelyn? Or are you jealous?”
Unbelievable.
“Have you forgotten what you two said at Bentley’s birthday last time? Of course, you’ve broken your promises to me so many times.” I forced myself to stay calm, opened the pen cap, and handed it to him. It doesn’t matter anymore, Christopher. Sign it.”
Christopher’s face darkened as he picked up the agreement and glanced at it, scrutinizing, “You only want that house?”
I nodded. “Yes.”
That house, though given by him, had a lot of my effort put into its renovation.
Other than that, I didn’t want anything else.
The house would give me and the baby a place to live, and while I might not earn a lot, it was enough to provide the baby with a decent life.
Even if the baby’s background were exposed one day, I could still clearly distinguish him from the Valence family.
After all, the Valence family hadn’t spent a penny raising this baby.
“Fine, I’ll sign it when I have time.” Christopher casually tossed the agreement into a drawer.
I frowned, “Don’t you have time now?
Signing wouldn’t delay him much.

Christopher’s face remained cold, I need to let my lawyer review the agreement first, don’t 17
I lowered my gaze: “Alright, do it as soon as possible.”
After that, I went straight back to my office.
The divorce was settled; now, it was just the resignation left.
I dialed an internal line to the HR department, “David Jones, this is Hope Royston, I’d like to know why my resignation request hasn’t been approved yet?”
“Mr. Valence said not to approve it. Sorry, I must have been too Isisy the past few days and forgot to reply to your email.”
Christopher didn’t approve it?
