It was Christopher’s voice,
My heart, which had been in my throat, finally settled. I fell a mix of relief and frustration. After icing and medicating my ankle and resting for several hours, I could at least put some weight on it.
But Christopher, standing outside the door, was clearly losing his palence.
hobbled to the door, hearing the beeping of the keypad.
“Incorrect password.”
“Incorrect password.
“Incorrect password.”
Christopher was getting more and more agitated.
When I finally opened the door, I saw him leaning lazily against the doorframe, his long fingers still poised to tap the screen. His slightly Tipsy face showed a hint of clarity as he saw me. The light from inside the house reflected in his eyes, making them shine intensely as he stared at me.
He didn’t say a word; he just stared as if he could see right through the.
The smell of alcohol wafted in, and I took a step back, puzzled. “Wh are you doing here?”
According to the usual script, Christopher should have been wooingvelyn with a fancy car and having a romantic dinner.
“Why is he here and drunk like this?” I thought,

“Who?” I asked, confused.
He sneered, “Cecil.”
I frowned, not understanding his thoughts. “Christopher, are you here to check if I’m cheating on you?”
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
His eyes darkened, and he pressed his lips together, muttering only one word, “No,”
“Then why are you here?” I asked.
He didn’t answer, his long lashes casting shadows on his cheeks, giving him a defeated look.

But he always responded with silence or mocking laughter. I had grown used to disappointment. Yet now, his simple words easily stirred my emotions.
I took a deep breath, trying to siny clear–headed. ‘You’re drunk.”
“I’m not.”
“Christopher, open your eyes. I’m Hope.”
“I know you’re Hope,” he interrupted, grabbing the back of my head and kissing me fiercely. “I missed you. Only you. No one else.”
Hearing my name repeatedly from his lips felt like feathers tickling my heart, making me tremble. Christopher kissed me like a lion claiming its territory, taking my breath away,
Caught off guard, my mind went blank, letting him do as he pleased To him, my lack of resistance might have seemed like consent, His broad hand started to roam over my body through the thin fabric
The air grew thin, and I suddenly snapped back to reality, pushing him away and collapsing to the floor, retching into a trash can. The more 1 vomited, the more the smell of alcohol churned in my stomach.
I couldn’t tell if I was feeling wronged or frustrated, but my chest fel like it was about to explode.
What was this?”
What was I to him? Someone he couldn’t touch while with Evelyn, he came to me to satisfy his needs?”
After a moment of pondering. I regained some composure and looked up, meeting Christopher’s cold, angry eyes.
“When he touched you, you didn’t seem this disgusted. You smiled at him, didn’t you?” he shouted.
“And you? Do you really miss the Hope you had to marry to protect Evelyn?” I snapped back, my head buzzing with anger, not caring to explain.
I held onto a sliver of hope, watching Christopher’s expression closely. I wanted to see surprise, shock, disbelief, all kinds of expressions on his face. After all, I didn’t believe everything Evelyn had said.
But there was no reaction. Christopher just stared, unable to refute,
“Poor you, Christopher,” I laughed bitterly, lowering my head. “Just sign the divorce papers.”
I had given him the papers days ago. Even if a lawyer reviewed every clause three times, it should be done by now.
I turned to close the door, but a force held it open, preventing me from shutting it.
