Billionaires Second Chance: Winning Her Back
Chapter 35 She Hit Me First
Christopher spent just one night repainting the new car he bought Evelyn to match mine, and he parked it right next to mine!
Passersby from work would make remarks, suggesting an intimacy that wasn’t there. It was unsettling.
Christopher was causing trouble for me with his mistress while blocking my driveway, claiming he missed me. Hypnerite.
Taking a deep breath, I tried to tune him out and slipped into my Before I could lock the doors, the back door was yanked open.
Evelyn slid in, all smiles. “Hope, you’re heading to the Valence family manor too, right?”
Today was the monthly family dinner, and Bentley had called me at on to remind me.
I snapped, “What’s it to you? Get out.”
“Don’t be mad. I just wanted to hitch a ride,” Evelyn said sweetly. “Even though I have a car, Christopher just bought it for me, and Thu not used to it yet. I’d hate to scratch it.”
Every word was a jab at my heart, her smugness unbearable.
I got out of the car, yanked her door open, and glared at her. “Did you ask for my permission to hitch a ride? Get out and don’t dirty
“This car was bought with Valence family money, and I’m part of the Valence family too. Why should I need your permission?” Evelyn retorted, acting like she owned the car.
I almost laughed, feeling helpless.
It seemed Christopher really spoiled her, which was why she had become shameless.
I smirked coldly. “What makes you think you’re part of the Valence family? If I remember correctly, Dad had to beg to get your name changed. By that logic, this car is even more mine because I’m Christopher’s wife,” I said, watching Evelyn’s face turn sullen bit by bit, which gave me a twisted sense of satisfaction.
Evelyn gritted her teeth. “You’re getting divorced!”
“Not yet. As long as we’re still married, I have more right to this car than you,” I said with a smile.
“Shameless!” Evelyn was furious, glaring at me. “If you’re getting divorced, just do it already! Why keep clinging to Christopher?”
“It seems that it’s him who clings to me.”
“What do you mean? Evelyn looked at me with disdain. “Are you saying Christopher is clinging to you?”
I sneered. “Why don’t you ask him who came to me drunk last night?
Evelyn’s eyes widened in jealousy, and she slapped me hard across the face. I hadn’t expected her to hit me here, and my cheek burned with pain.
The Valence Group employees who witnessed this were shocked.
I was furious and raised my hand to slap her back, but a strong hand grabbed my wrist.

Christopher’s face was dark as he barked, ‘Hope, since when did you start hitting people?”
He showed me away, and I stumbled, my still–healing ankle giving way, I crashed into the car, making a dull thud. Thankfully, I ‘didn’t hit my belly.
I stared at hins in disbelief.
Christopher’s eyes were fixed on Evelyn. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, thanks to you,” Evelyn said, her eyes red and watery, looking pitiful.
Christopher’s tone turned cold again. “I told you not to provoke her bidn’t you listen?”
“I didn’t mean to provoke her. I just wanted to ride with her to the Valence family manor. You know I haven’t driven in a while and I’m scared,” Evelyn said softly.
“If you’re scared, why buy so many cars?” Christopher’s words were cold, but his actions were Indulgent. “Go wait in my car.
“Okay,” Evelyn replied sweetly, taking his car keys. As she passed me, her eyes were full of smugness.
The onlookers whispered among themselves, some comments loud enough to hear.
“Looks like the new girl in the design department is Mr. Valence’s will
“Yeah, she even hit Ms. Royston, but Mr. Valence defended her.”
“Of course, if it were your wife and some outsider, who would you defend?”
“True, but I feel bad for Ms. Royston. What did she do to upset Evelyn?”
I ignored the chatter, my eyes fixed on Christopher.

Finally, his eyes met mine, icy and penetrating. “She just wanted a ride. Did you have to hit her?”
My nose stung, and I blinked hard, stepping closer to him, my back straight, showing my still–burning cheek.
If Christopher looked closely, he’d see the handprint. He’d know I was just trying to hit her back.
But he didn’t. His thoughts were all on Evelyn.
Disappointment filled me. I spoke slowly, almost choking on the words, Christopher, look closely. She hit me first.”
