Chapter 8 Long Time No See
At Jaquar University, you might not know who the campus queen ist you definitely know Christopher.
Student body president, campus heartthrob, recipient of numerous tional awards, heir to the Valence Group, a genisis, and blessed with movie–star looks and a great physique. Each title was enough to drive all the girls on campus crazy.
But in four years, no one ever succeeded in confessing their love to him. Rumor had it he already had someone he liked. Turns out, it was Evelyn.
“Was it during college?” I asked.
Christopher looked at me, surprised. “How did you know?”
Because I went to jacquar University too,
5, and I had a crush on Christopher the whole time. He once saved me, but he doesn’t
remember.
I lost my parents when I was young. If it weren’t for my aunt Beata Dylan taking me in, I’d have ended up in an orphanage. Beata loved me, but she had her own family. To help out, I worked part–time whenever.1 could. I paid for college myself, living frugally. One time, I fainted from malnutrition.
It was Christopher who took me to the hospital. When I woke up, Christopher, looking as serene as a clear breeze, was by my side, the sunlight casting a glow on him like a radiant figure.
Just one glance, and I was mesmerized.
“You’re awake? The doctor said you’re malnourished. Take better care of yourself,” he said.
“Thanks, but who are you?”
“No need to thank n

- me. I have to go.”
He was distant and cold, just like his reputation. But after that, wherever I went to the cafeteria, he or his friends would “accidentally” leave food for me. The excuses were lame, but they saved my pride.
From love at first sight to marriage, I never thought I’d marry my crash. Every day of the past seven years, I’ve cherished it. So when Christopher left on our wedding night, I thought something important had come up. I worried for his safety and feared he was unhappy with me.
Christopher didn’t hide it anymore. “Evelyn had a fight with her ex–husband and ran away. I went to find her.”
Evelyn showed up at the family gathering the next day, looking perfectly fine. I couldn’t believe Christopher didn’t see through her. Fighting back the bitterness, I said, “Christopher, if you still have feelings for her, we can end this amicably
He stared at me like I was an alien. I never thought…”
A text interrupted him. He glanced at it, his expression turning ley. She’s in trouble. I need to go.
The car sped off, leaving me shivering in the autumn wind. Elissa called, asking what I was doing. I told her I was walking alone.
*Christopher left you on the road? Wait there, I’m coming.”
In less than fifteen minutes, a red sports car pulled up. It matched issa’s bold and beautiful vibe perfectly.
“What’s going on?” she asked:

“Are you sure?” Elissa frowned. I never supported you two, but I’ve on how he treats you. If he didn’t care, why give you so many shares? But if he does, why does Evelyn keep pulling him away? 1 cart figure him out.”
Neither could 1.
We stopped at a club. “What’s this?” I asked.
Elissa parked, twirling her keys. “I know you can’t drink because you pregnant, but you can still hang out, right? Screw Christopher. Tonight, I’m getting you eight male models!”
I laughed. “I’m married, you know.”
Elissa rolled her eyes and led me to a fancy private room. “You’re too conservative. What about him? Men are all jerks!”
True to her word, Elissa ordered eight male models, each tall and handsome, with different styles. The room was packed. Elissa pulled out a deck of cards and got everyone playing-
I watched from the side. One of the models, shirt half–open, leaned and whispered, “Why aren’t you joining
UST!
Feeling awkward, I smiled and said I wasn’t good at games, then excused myself to the bathroom. He followed, pestering me with
sleazy/comments.
“Can I have some space?” I said, trying to stay calm.
He cornered me against the wall, smirking. “You came here to have in, right? Stop pretending Let’s just enjoy ourselves…”
Suddenly, there was a scream and a snap. Something broke.
“If you don’t want your hand, I can help with that,” said a man, twisting the model’s arm. He wore a white shirt with rolled–up sleeves, veins bulging from the effort. A bracelet on his wrist seemed out of place but well–loved,
He looked up, meeting my eyes with a gentle smile. “Hope, long time no see.”
