Chapter 232
DRAKE: “Possibly, but we need to get her to the hospital now.” I link a couple of our warriors to help get her to the hospital, the Doc and I follow. “Where do I need to go to help Pete out?” “Please follow the nurse she will get you set up.” I follow the nurse into a quiet, somewhat darkened room, I can see the monitors and hear the beeping. “Is he going to be alright?” I asked the nurse. “He should be able to make a full recovery with your transfusion.” She says. I nod. My mind going back over the battle, it felt I don’t know, off somehow, like, not everyone was involved, I don’t know, I just can’t put my finger on it. Or maybe another wave will hit, when they think we let our guard down, or something. I need to check in with James, and Wyatt, they took off to the borders.
JAMES I went to the North border. The fighting was intense for all of 30-40 minutes, then they all just stopped, knelt, and put their hands up. It was strange to say the least, I walked over to the one that looked to be in charge of this group. “Surendering?” I asked him “Yes, this is not my Pack, or our Pack to fight for, or with, we had to make a show of it, so that they would think we were helping them, in order to save our families, but we don’t want this fight.” He says to me. I nod my understanding. “Can you help pick out who is from what Packs, and we will do our best to make sure that you get home.” I tell him. “Ha would that that were possible, when they came for my Pack, they left nothing behind, there is no home to go back to. And I think you will find it to be the same with most of us.” Again, I nod in understanding. I link Wyatt, as he went to the West border. “How is it going, need any help?” “No, it’s the strangest thing, after about 30-40 minutes, they all just stopped, and kneeled and put their hands up.” “Same here, but we have to remember, that Stone Claw destroyed and devastated several small Packs to get here, you wouldn’t want to fight for them either, if it were you.” I said. “Yeah, your right there.” “Ok, let’s get them to the Pack house and go from there, to figure this shit out.” “Roger that.” I close the link. “Ok, here’s what we are going to do, you will follow my warrior Chris over there, we are going to get you all back to the Pack house and sort all this out, but if any of you fall out of line, my men won’t hesitate to kill any one of you. Is that clear?” “YES SIR” “Ok let’s go, Chris head back.” I call out. And we all start to walk back to the Pack house.
WYATT: Lexi and I both headed to the West border, she followed me, as she still needs to be initiated into the Pack, even though I did mark and mate her, we still have to go through the proper ceremony. Once the fighting stopped and they just knelt, I was a bit confused, not going to lie, but after getting James’s link it makes sense, I wouldn’t want to fight for those bastards either. So, after determining who was in charge of the group in front of me, we got them organized and headed back to the Pack house. When we got back, I was in shock, Ice statues dotted the yard and ash piles dotted other places. I linked James. “Dude, are you back yet?” “Yes.” “Are you seeing this?” “Yes.” “What the hell happened? What are all these ice statues?” “I have no clue; I’m in the dark as much as you are.” I direct my group over to the east side of the pack house, where James also had his group, there were about 200 wolves between both groups. I walked over to James. “Watch them, I’m going to go find Mitchell and see if he knows anything.” He tells me. I nod.
JAMES: Instead of walking all over the compound in search of Mitch I link him. “Mitch where are you?” “Down by the Barracks.” “Do you know what the hell happened around here? What are all these ice statues, and ash piles?” “Yes, I know, but I think it is best that you hear it from your dad.” “Ok, and where is he?” “I believe he went to the hospital, to help save Pete. “He should be back around here soon.” “By the way, both Wyatt and I have about 200 refugees, I’m not going to call them prisoners of war, unless they prove themselves to be.” “Where are you?” “Up on the East side of the Pack house.” “On my way.” I close the link, and head back over to where Wyatt is watching, and having our guys administer first aid to the group in front of us. “Did you find out anything?” Wyatt asked “No,Mitch is on his way here, he says he knows, but said I would need to hear it from dad.” I tell him. “Where is the Alpha?” “At the hospital helping to save Pete.” He nods.
KESKA: With: the fighting over, I went to the Pack house safe room to check on the house staff, Lissa, Liam, and mom, to see how they faired. I gave the special knock, so he knew not to shoot me. Liam met me at the door, bow still in hand. “Hey little bro, how is everyone?” “All’s well, no one got close, we’re all good.” I nod at him and give him a hug, even though I have blood all over me. “Hey! OOOH! Yuck! Wait is any of that yours?” “OOPs sorry, no none of it is mine.” “Was it really bad?” “Well, it wasn’t pretty, as far as bad, I don’t know, I don’t know how many we may have lost.” I tell him. “Is it safe to come out now?” “Yes, I believe it is. I am going to go get cleaned up.” I tell him. “Ok, me too now, thanks to you.” “Yeah, but you love me.” “Yeah, your right I do.”
MACKIE: We had a good advantage of height for the entire battle, and whenever anyone came into our area, if they went straight for the shadows of the buildings, we left them be, but if they were sniffing around, or showing signs of being too aggressive, we dispatched them. Every so often I would here the whispers float up to me, “did the red wolf send you?” “Did the red wolf help you?” I found it interesting, but I had to shush them, because we couldn’t chance someone hearing them. But with every new wolf that showed up the questions got asked, but at least they were staying as quiet as they could. Sun rise came, and I could see the statutes, and ash piles from where I was, lying flat on the roof top. I caught sight of my brother coming from the west border and it looked like he had about 50 to 100 wolves with him. I gave a “foxy” whistle as he moved them past us. He just shook his head. I watched as the Pack started to emerge from hiding, not hearing the sounds of battel any longer, as I was climbing down, I caught some of the reactions of the Pack to what they were seeing and not understanding it. I have a bad feeling about this.
