STAR: “I am afraid that Jessie will be using this party to fish for information on where to find Keska, along with it being her birthday, they will be introducing their twins.” I tell them. “That is why we have to go.” “Do you still think that she is going to try something?” Blane asked. “Unfortunately, I do.” I said. “I don’t know who all she has invited to this party, but it might be a good idea that we do go, and maybe one of you can warn Alpha Apollo about how bad Jessie can actually be.” I said. They both nodded. We left my office and went to pack to leave. We were maybe the 3rd or 4th Pack to get to the party. Jessie greeted us and introduced us to her mate Apollo. I shook his hand, as did Blake and Blane. The only other Person that I knew so far was Leasha, Jessie called her over and we got reacquainted, making introductions between our mates. We were introduced to the others and found that they were from the smaller, closer Packs. The minute I saw Leasha, my fears were confirmed: Jessie is using this party as a fishing expedition. I find my mates and politely interrupt their conversation. “I was right, so please watch what you say and who you say it to.” I whispered, nodding in Leasha’s direction. They both pecked me on the cheek as a sign that they understood. I left them to go back to their conversations and to making connections. As I watched the rest of the partygoers arrive, I was connecting the dots in my head. Dark Moon’s Luna is the sister of Alpha Caron’s Luna. Dutch Wood’s Alpha is the brother of Blue Crescent’s new Luna. My home Pack. Black Water Pack’s Luna Renae is the sister of Princess Rachell. Not one of them is aware of the problems Jessie has caused, with the possibility of Renae, and all of them have some connection to someone close to Keska. Shit! Jessie knew what she was doing. I made my way over to Luna Renae. “Hello Luna Renae, it is nice to see you again.” “Luna Star, good to see
you again.” “Do you think we could talk privately?” I asked her
“Sure. And we move to a quiet corner. “I don’t know how much you know, but I need to let you in on an issue that concerns Jessie,” I tell her. “I believe I am aware, my sister informed me about her pranks.” “They weren’t just pranks, she had Kes stabbed and kidnapped,” I tell her. “I have a feeling that she is using this party to fish for information on where her sister is. I don’t think she will give up on getting payback for what happened at the birthday dinner last year.” I tell her. She nods her understanding. And we separate, I don’t think I can get to anyone else without raising suspicion.
JESSIE: I notice Star talking to Renae, and I let Leasha know not to try to get anything directly from either one of them, but encourage some of the others to gossip around them to try to pick something up. Just before it was time for dinner, Apollo had the twins brought into the hall. “Everyone, your attention please. I want to present Connor and Carllie to all of you. They joined our family a month ago.” He announced. Then, of course, everyone congratulated us. And we went in for dinner.
APOLLO: After dinner, I was approached by one of the Cold Moon Alphas. I am not sure which one is which yet, but I will get to know over time, working with them, but one of them asked to speak to me. I took him into my office. “Alpha Apollo, I need to inform you about some issues involving your Luna.” He said. “Oh? What kind of issues?” I asked. “She hates her sister, who, by the way, has much the same coloring as your mother and son. Please keep a close eye on either them or her, I fear that she may try to hurt them in some way.” “And why would you think that?” “She conspired to have her sister stabbed, not necessarily to kill her, but it nearly did. And then she conspired to have her kidnapped during the ball.” He tells me. Then, just as quickly, he asked about our hemp and flax production and how much we used and grew, and we haggled back and forth on the price for the raw fiber, as if he didn’t just reveal that my mate was a narcissist. I played along. We finally settled on a price for the raw fiber. He said they have recently come into possession of a farm : equipment retail business, and they want to supplement it with replacement parts and twine for the bailers. He wanted the raw material because they could spin their own twine. Then, as we were getting ready to leave, he said, “Just a word of caution, the sister’s mate is the youngest Lycan prince. Just in case you weren’t aware.” I showed him out, and linked my beta “Lance in my office now.” “Yes, Alpha.” I left my door open and waited for him. A couple of minutes later, he enters my office. “Close the door.” I say and wait for the door to close. “I just found out that not only is Jessie a spoiled princess by daddy’s making, but she is also a narcissist. She tried on more than one occasion to get rid of her sister, who, I guess, has the same coloring as Mom and Connor.” I tell him. “Shit! How did you find this out?” “One of the Cold Moon Twins, don’t ask, because I can’t tell them apart. But I also got us a deal with them, so not a complete loss.” I said. “So, what do you want to do about your Luna?” “I want her watched, put Saetta on it, I know she is going to hate house duty, but Mom will know without saying anything to her if it’s Saetta. Also, bring Cord in, he can fit into the flow of the house without her even noticing she is being watched.” I told him. “On it.” And he left, and I went back and rejoined the party. I could tell by the look in Jessie’s eyes, she was suspicious about the fact that I was gone and with one of the twins. I walked over to her. “I just made us a deal that will put five grand a month in the accounts, at harvest time.” “That’s not that much.” She said, but the suspicion was gone. “It’s five grand more than what we had, and I know it’s not for the whole year, but we take what we can get.” I told her. She nodded in agreement.
