Damon came back just as I was about to leave.
Dragging his suitcase, he walked into the room while talking on the phone.

“The project has started. Carrie and some friends and I are handling it. We’ll officially open the company soon.”
He walked past me to put his suitcase away, still talking about work.

I avoided his gaze and walked out of the room. But he suddenly called out, “Ashy, are you going to work? Wait, let’s go together.”

“My car broke down. Can you give me a ride, Damon? I’ve already called a tow truck.”
Without hesitation, Damon agreed, not even asking for my opinion.
Carol’s eyes lingered on me, her expression slightly apologetic. “Ashley, can you move to the back? I get car sick and usually sit in the front with Damon.”
I raised an eyebrow and smiled.
