Chapter 104 Divorcing Reese–1
Everly was seething with frustration. Malcolm had eyes and a heart caly for Reese, that woman. Did their years of friendship mean nothing to him anymore? No, she couldn’t let it end like this; she had to win Malcolm back.
Everly turned to Finn Sawyer, determination in het voice. ‘Grandpa, since Reese can’t heal Malcolm’s leg, maybe it’s time to call off their engagement. That was our agreement from the start, after all.
Reese stood her ground, squinting slightly as she watched Everly from a distance. It was clear that Everly could no longer tolerate her presence or perhaps she saw an opportunity if Reese and Malcolm divorced. It was delusional; if Malcolm had any rounantic interest in Everly, would he have waited for Reese?
Clearly, Malcolm’s affection for Everly was nothing more than brotherly love,
Vincent, enjoying the show, sat back in his chair sipping tea, a schadenfreude grin playing on his lips, chiming in with perfect timing, “Reese might not be a professional, but her intention to help Malcolm stand again is sincere. Still, for the Flynn family to marry someone of such modest means, it invites ridicule.”
Finn Sawyer didn’t immediately object, suggesting he was contemplating the suggestion. After all, he had only agreed to Malcolm marrying a Brooks girl to fulfill a promise to Reese’s grandfather. He had hoped for someone to provide Malcolm With care and companionship, not anticipating Reese’s wild and untamable nature like a mustang that refused to be reined in. If Malcolm hadn’t been so taken with her, Finn might have seen her as just another stuff member. But from the start, he never intended for Reese to simply play the role of Lady Flynn.
Only by marrying Malcolm to a lady of equal standing to the Flynn Emily could his position within the company and family be solidified.
He changed his mind abruptly, ‘Alright, since you all agree, and Rees hasn’t kept her promise, get the divorce papers ready
tomorrow.
“I won’t accept that.” Malcolm, who had been silent, firmly rejected nn Sawyer’s arrangement.
This seemed to surprise Finn. It was probably the first time Malcolm had ever defied him.
When it was time to find Malcolm a bride, he’d never objected. And now, for a girl who had barely been around for a while, he was willing to go against his will.
“Malcolm, Reese is no longer suited to take care of you. I’ll find someone more appropriate.”
Even though Finn was annoyed, he was still concerned for Malcolm’s well–being and tried to persuade him patiently.
“No need, Grandpa Finn. Ever since the day I got married, I wasn’t prepared for divorce, so please take back what you just said.”
Malcolm’s eyes were resolute. Reese saw that the usual tenderness he showed her had disappeared, his handsome features sharp and cold, his lips taut, ready to stand his ground against Finn.
She couldn’t help frowning. There was no reason for this man to confront Finn Sawyer over her,
She had plenty of ways to stay if she wanted to; she didn’t need him to stick his neck out for her.
Everly tried to reason from the side, “Malcolm, clear your head, will you? This woman is simply using you as a stepping
in stone.”
The moment she finished speaking, she felt his entire demeanor turn severe.
“This is my business, you don’t get to decide for me.”

His gaze was somber, his lonecy, and Everly felt as though her heart had been plerced, her fingers clenching painfully in her palm.
Finn Sawyer’s face, creased with wrinkles, wore a stern and frustrated expression. The more you protect Reese, Malcolm, the less I ||
allow her near you.”

Such a wonian would only hinder your fature, affecting your judgment at every turn.
The air in the living room was tense; it was then that Reese spoke calmly.
“Grandpa Finn, may I have a word with you alone?”
Finn’s eyes fell on Reese. They’d made quite a scene, and one would xpect her to be embarrassed or ashamed, yet her face was composed, her eyes and brows exuding a cold dignity that was quite intimidating.
He didn’t want things to get so tense with his grandson. Malcolm hal been listless for a while, but ever since Reese showed up, he started reclaiming his zest for life.
But
↑ Reese was a real wild card, and he feared Malcolm wouldn’t be alle to handle her in the long run.
The standoff was getting them nowhere fast. And nobody wanted to be the first to back down in this clash of wills.
“Alright, come with me to the study,” he said.
Everly didn’t know what tricks Reese had up her sleeve, but she was worried that Grandpa might have a change of heart. It had been tough securing this chance, but if Grandpa put his foot down, Malcom would surely agree.
It was now just a matter of outlasting each other.
She rushed forward to catch Finn Sawyer, “Grandpa, don’t fall for her nonsense.”
Finn Sawyer paused briefly before continuing towards the stairs, with Reese following close behind.
Malcolm watched the slender figure on the ascent, no sign of defest in her gait. He couldn’t help but wonder what Reese planned to say to Grandpa,
Everly’s expression darkened as she glared at Vincent. “Why didn’t you speak up to stop this?”
Vincent scoffed, “Didn’t you hear? Malcolm is quite taken with our sister–in–law. You’ve known him all your life; you should understand his temperament.”
Once Malcolm made up his mind, it was set in stone.
To speak up now would be to throw oneself into the line of fire. It was better to read the room and know when to make a strategic move, rather than blindly charging into battle.
Everly huffed in frustration and said nothing more, only hoping Grandpa wouldn’t change his decision,
In the study, Finn Sawyer sat down with a hint of irritation still on his face. The family had never been embroiled in such a fierce argument, especially not over someone so insignificant.
“So, what is it you wanted to talk about?” he asked.
Reese faced Finn Sawyer without a trace of fear, simply stating, “I’m not ready to divorce Malcolm just yet, and I haven’t broken any promises I made to you.”
Finn Sawyer looked at Reese quizzically, “What are you getting at?”
“I mean, Malcolm’s leg is healed. He can walk perfectly fine now.”
Chapter 104 Divorcing Reese–2
Reese felt she had to speak upf; if she didn’t, Finn Sawyer might just push for her divorce from Malcolm. And she hadn’t finished investigating Grandma’s death. Things were just starting to make sense; she couldn’t leave now.
“Nonsense! You must’ve missed what Vincent said earlier; he made it clear that some of the treatments you tried on Malcolm were completely futile. Reese, I know you’re enamored with the wealth and comfort here, but don’t think for a second that I, Grandpa Flynn, have lost my marbles, scoffed Finn Sawyer when Reese mentioned that Malcolm could stand up. He was more inclined to believe Vincent than Reese–who was still an outsider to him.
Reese remained unruffled. When she set her mind on something, there was little that could deter her.
“If I had proof that Malcolm really can stand, would you let me stay with the Flynn family then, Grandpa?” she asked.
