Chapter 105 Defying Fate
Finn was intrigued. “Well, show me this proof that Malcolm can actually stand, and I’ll retract my words on the spot.”
Reese pulled out her cellphone, selected a photo from her gallery, and landed it to Finn Sawyer.
“This was taken today at the hotel entrance. Here’s Malcolm standing tall. There’s also a video of him walking. You needn’t worry about any trickery, Grandpa, nid you can ask him yourself if you have any doubts.”
Taking the cellphone with a skeptical alt, Finn stared at the photo. There stood Malenim, fit as a fiddle in a sharp suit, by a flowerbed. Finn swiped to another image–a viilen of Malcolm walking with no hint of his previous paralysis, as if it never happened.
For a moment, Fints was overcome with emotion, his eyes brimming with tears. “Malcolm… he truly can stand up at last. I was afraid I wouldn’t live to see this day, but it seems like the good Lord haan Labandoned me yet.”
Years of tireless effort hadn’t been in vain. His grandson had finally recovered. He was overwhelmed by joy, unable to contain his excitement.
“Don’t laugh at an old man, Reese, I’ve been scouring the country for the best doctors, trying to heal Malcolm’s legs. I couldn’t bear to see him so defeated. The Flynn family needs him, the company needs him,” said Finn, his voice trembling with emotion as he wiped away a tear.
“I haven’t been in the best health myself these past few years and who knows what tomorrow might bring. If something were bappen to me, who would look after the vast Flynn estate? Generations of hard work would go to waste.”
Reese understood the gravity of Finn Sawyer’s concerns. At their age, it’s the helplessness that weighs most heavily–the mind willing, but the body weak.
She believed if Finn Sawyer were a few years younger, he wouldn’t be in such a hurry to find a doctor for Malcolm everywhere.
Still, she wanted to get a sense of how Finn Sawyer truly felt.
“Grandpa, but even if Malcolm can’t stand up in the end, isn’t there Vincent? He seems pretty capable too.”
Mentioning Vincent, Reese saw a look of resignation and disappointment on Finn Sawyer’s face.
He moved slowly across the room toward Reese.

“Since you healed Malcolm, I might as well tell you this. Vincent’s competent, no doubt, but his ambition is too strong, and his intentions aren’t pure. He’s like his father, caring only for profit, with no sense of family. If I were to entrust the Flynn family to him one day, he’d surely drive everyone to ruin.”
“By then, Malcolm won’t be spared either. Don’t let his cold exterior fool you; he’s incredibly loyal. As long as someone has a heart, they can’t be all that bad. We can’t lose our basic moral principles, can we?”
Listening to Finn Sawyer, Reese suddenly felt Grandpa Flynn had a pretty solid set of values, even if his words had been harsh before.
But she wasn’t the type to hold a grudge. As long as her bottom line wasn’t crossed, she could forgive.
Besides, he was concerned for his family and his grandson’s future.
A rare smile graced his face, slight though it was, but for Reese, it was quite something.
“Grandpa, don’t worry. No matter what, Malcolm is my husband right now, and 1, Reese, am just as protective.”

Chapter 105 Defying Fate
At least while thely marriage sted, Malcolm was her husband, her man, and she wouldn’t allow anyone to bully him really.
Finn Sawyer now looked at her kindly: “Then I’m entrusting Malcolm to you.”
It was good to clear up misunderstandings between them, and Reese knew it wasn’t right to linger.
“Well then, Grandpa, I’ll head down now.”
Reaching the door, she heard Finn Sawyer Inquire as she was about to leave.
“I wanted to ask, if Malcolm’s leg is already sealed, why did Vincent pay that just now?”
A sly grin flashed in Reese’s eyes, her lips curving ever so slightly.
“Because I temporarily blocked his meridian with a needle, so Vince couldn’t tell. I hope you can keep this a secret, Grandpa.”
Finn Sawyer beamed: “Don’t worry, go ahead. I’ll be there shortly.”
Reese closed the door gently and went downstairs with a relaxed expression.
In the living room, Everly couldn’t wait to confront Reese as she emerged.
“What did Grandpa say to you? He’s telling you to break it off with Malcolm, Isn’t he? I knew it! Grandpa wouldn’t keep someone like you around. Women like you can be found a dime a dozen out there.”
Everly spat out the words with such confidence in her eyes–she wasure Grandpa was going to send Reese packing. After all, since Malcolm’s leg hadn’t healed, Reese was of no use anymore.
The Flynns were businesspeople, not charitables. Why keep a useless woman around?
Reese retorted with a mocking smile, “Whether I leave or not isn’t up to you. Grandpa will let us know soon enough.”
With that, she moved to Malcolm’s side and gently removed the slim needle from his shoulder.
The reason
on she hadn’t taken it out until now was because she was wary of Vincent taking advantage of her absence to check Malcolm’s pulse again. But as long as she was there, she’d be damned if she let Vincent lay a finger on Malcolm.
Malcolm’s handsome face broke into a tender smile. He reached for Reese’s hand and gave it a soft squeeze,
“You’ve worked so hard,
my
love.”
At that moment, Finn Sawyer descended the stairs, and Everly rushed to him.
“Grandpa, no matter what this girl told you, don’t believe a word. She broke her promise first–we have every right to send her away from the Flynn family.”
Finn Sawyer’s wise eyes swept over everyone before he made his declaration.
“Reese will continue to stay with the Flynns. I retract my earlier statement about their divorce. Furthermore, from this point on, no one in the Flynn household is to mistreat Reese, or they will answer to me.”
Not only was Everly shocked, but even the usually composed Vincents face flashed with surprise.
What just happened?

Reese was upstairs for merely minutes, but somehow, she had managed to easily change Grandpa’s mind and prompt such a significant decision.
Wasn’t Grandpa’s statement essentially validating Reese?
After hearing his words, Everly was livid, her face turning a shade of steely blue as she stomped her foot on the floor.
“Grandpa, what’s gotten into you? Have you fallen under her spell to? She’s clearly deceiving us, claiming she can cure Malcolm’s leg, and yet, he still can’t stand up.”
“All right, Everly, I get that you’re concerned about Malcolm, but now that Reese has married into our family, you should at least show her some basic respect, and not go around shouting like this. You’re not acting anything like Miss Flynn, the younger lady of our household.”
