Reese, usually the epitome of grace under pressure, felt her cheeks ze with a sudden and uncontrollable flush. Malcolm had arrived, impeccably dressed in a tailored suit that inexplicably complemented the dress she wore.
Malcolm gave Reese a tender wink, which seemed to thaw the cool alabaster of her composure. Tentatively, Reuse allowed her harul to rest in his waiting palm, With a confident step forward, Malcolm rapped her in an affectionate embrace, playfully pinching her waist–a spot he knew all too well elicited trembling giggles from he But with the stage set and all eyes on them, Reme strained to keep her reactions discreet.
Tilting his head slightly, he drew her even closer, eliminating any space that remained between them. Reese could smell his cologne, fresh with a hint of tobacco–surprisingly pleasing.
His voice, low and seductive, almost seemed designed to bewitch as he murmured in her ear, “Don’t be nervous, sweetheart. I got
you
Reese stiffened, unaccustomed to such proximity. Malcolm’s warm hand still lingered on her waist, adding to her discomfort.
Her gaze flickered across Malcolm’s lean, strong legs. “Not shying away from dancing tonight?” She teased with an attempt at humor.
“Wouldn’t dream of passing up a dance with my wife,” he replied, his voice oozing charm, sending a wall of warmth through Reese’s core. She lowered her head, gripping his shirt slightly as she sought to create some distance between them.
“Can you you know–give me some space?” She pleaded; her discomfort as clear as day.
Malcolm’s lips curved with a knowing smile. “It’s a couple’s dance, darling. If we don’t stick close, it’s more like a wrestling match.”
“You’re making it too hot,” Reese admitted. For the first time ever, she was too shy to meet someone’s gaze. Her -downwards, noticing a few buttons undone at his collar, revealing a perfectly sculpted collarbone.

Malcolm felt the light, warm puffs of her breath against his skin, every exhale brushing over him. Her soft waist seemed to beckon
for a closer embrace.
He swallowed as a wave of heat coursed through him, darkening his gaze.
Just as Reese pondered how to push him away, Malcolm’s voice, laced with insinuation, tickled her ear. “Honey, I’m finding it harder to wait. I claim you tonight, alright?”
He chuckled softly as his lips barely brushed her flushed earlobe, the sound a feather–light tease.
Reese’s mind short–circuited, and she nearly blasted him with a fierce retort. But with the crowd below, she held back her combative
response.
A cool edge crept into her tone, a warning to Malcolm. “You might want to stop talking like that, or I can’t promise I won’t make you regret it.
The host, standing off to the side, was clueless about the whispers exchanged between the two contestants. However, he could feel a certain tension in the air and cleared his throat to interject.
“Ahem… Now that Mr. Flynn has partnered up with Reese, let’s get started. Cue the music, please.”
Soon after, a soft and beautiful melody filled the stage.

Malcolm had initially thought Reese had merely skimmed through the dance moves, relying on her martial arts foundation to catch on quickly. He was worried she might not be able to keep up with h pace.
Surprisingly, his wife didn’t just keep up; she matched him move for move. Her grace was captivating; she was like a butterfly in elegant flight, causing even him to lose himself in the performance for a moment.
The audience was equally transfixed, with some even uttering In awi
“Are we witnessing an angel? She’s alssolutely divine.”
“It’s like watching the dance of butterflies.”

“Absolutely! They’re such a match! I’m totally shipping them.”
The crowd was buzzing with positive reviews, while even Lilly and Sophia Linden, who had been sure of winning the performance with looks of disgust.
Sophia Linden shot Lilly an annoyed glance.
“I thought you said Reese couldn’t dance? What gives?!”

Not only could she dance, but the complexity of her moves was something not even Sophia dared to attempt. An amateur might not recognize Reese’s skill, but Sophia could. Reese’s dancing was in a league of its own–it simply wasn’t comparable to that of an ordinary person. How could a girl from the countryside dance the tango so flawlessly? Even her favorite dancer, Linda, a world champion, seemed a fair match to Reese’s performance that night.
Who was this Reese, truly?
As the d
dance ended, the auditorium erupted in booming applause, a perfect curtain call.
“My goodness, that dance was gorgeous; they looked like celestial beings gracing us with their presence.”
“I never expected Reese to be a this year.”

Year after year, Sophia Linden had clinched the championship, but Reese’s unexpected emergence as a dark horse had stolen the spotlight.
As Reese passed by her, Sophia’s mind reeled with jealousy. In a rash move, she tried to trip Reese. But Reese, ever so alert, promptly stepped down hard on Sophia’s foot the moment her leg came out, eliciting a shriek of pain from Sophia,
“Ah… That hurts!” Sophia screamed, completely throwing her composure to the wind,
Reese feigned surprise as he stepped aside.
“Oops, sorry!

Sophia’s face went white with pain as she glared daggers at Reese.
“It looked like you did that on purpose. You saw my foot…”
Reese arched an eyebrow at her, “Are you trying to say

Sophia realized she had almost exposed herself and quickly denied
“Don’t go making false accusations. When did I ever say something like that?”
Then why would your foot be sticking out that far for no reason?”
Reese’s slender eyes lifted s
od slightly with a hint of mockery on her red lips while she spoke.
Sophia felt unnerved by Reese’s intimidating gaze, opening her mouth to retort but ultimately staying silent.
Her silence was taken as an admission, and the onlookers started whispering among themselves.
“I can’t believe she’d stoop so low.”
“In a competition, it’s normal to have winners and losers. It’s just an anniversary celebration; there’s no need to take it to heart.”
The man standing next to Reese looked down at Sophia with a low, indifferent voice, tinged with a chilling detachment.
“Sophia, this is just
for fun. There’s no need for such dirty tricks. I don’t want to see this kind of behavior again.
Sophia hadn’t yet recovered from Reese’s intimidating look when Malcolm wamed her, her face pale as a sheet.
What kind of bad luck had she stumbled into today?

“Get home early tonight, and don’t forget what I just said.”
Reese’s smile froze, her cheeks flushed as she remembered what he had said to her on stage, thinking this man was rather Impatient.
