Chapter 146 So Much Like My Wife
Reese laughed at his comment, her eyes twinkling like stars.
“Malcolm, are you teasing me because I spent your money?”
Malcolm leaned casually against the railing, legs crossed, his eyes holding a faint twinkle of amusement.
Let me tell you something.”
Reese showed a flicker of impatience. My heels are blistered, and you’re making me stand here for a story? No thanks, I need to sleep.
She turned to climb the stairs, but before her foot could land on the bext step, a strong pair of hands encircled her waist, and suddenly she was airborne, whisked to a secure spot on a landing by Malcolm.
Reese, ready to explode, began, ‘Malcolm, are you-
“No trouble at all now; I’ll carry you the rest of the way.”
Malcolm gently carried her with his arms firmly around her waist.
Reese swallowed her angry retort. After all, considering she had snagged a billion–dollar deal from him today, she could let him vent a bit. “You have ten minutes, and then I’m going to bed,” she said, barely concealing a yawn.
tip of her nose with an indulgent smile, his eyes as soft as a moonlit lake. She nearly drowned in them.
Malcolm pinched the tip
Reese’s defenses against Malcolm were wearing thin. No, she needed to hold it steady, not let him stir her emotions into chaos.
“That project I asked you about, you know our co
our company was ready ages ago. We had a break–in last time, still unsolved, but today met with the project lead and they’ve gone with a company called AstorCorp. They’re new kids on the block, but their boss… he’s got moves like a seasoned pro.”
Malcolm’s dark eyes held hers unwaveringly as he spoke. He wasn’t just admiring her looks; he was watching every subtle change in her expression.
Some people can maintain a calm exterior, but their inner turmoil often shows subtly on their face. Emotions may be concealed, but there’s usually a telltale sign.
She listened absentmindedly, even let out a bored yawn somewhere in the middle.
“And then?” she prompted.
I got my hands on their proposal from Daniel. The changes were so well done it’s nearly impossible to tell they ripped off our design.”
She gave Malcolm a cool side glance.
“Did you catch whoever was responsible?”
“They

I did get a show out of it though. The thief took a leap over the staircase railing. The agility… Malcolm’s voice Trailed off as he leaned in close, his breath warm against her ear, his one teasing, “reminded me of you, darling.”
Malcolm’s words didnt unsettle her. It was his sudden proximity, le distinct masculine scent that overpowered her senses, making her want to… maybe, just maybe, bite him.
Chapter 146 So Much Like My Wife
Ever since she got a peek of his incredible physique that one time, the thought crossed her mind more than once. But these kinds of thoughts stay buried deep down. Wouldn’t want Malcolm thinking he married a lustful wife.
She could already imagine a novel title spinning in her head. The Wife Craves My Body. Not bad.
Snapping back to reality, her response was noncommittal.
“If you think there’s a resemblance, why not hire that person? She had been looking for someone to take over her spot anyway.”
Malcolm’s handsome face shifted instantly, brows furrowed, lips tigh, a cold aura radiating from him. His hand unconsciously tightened around her waist.
“Repeat what you just said!” he demanded. Caught off guard by his sudden outburst, Reese was especially shaken by the tempest swirling in his dark eyes. Despite usually being fearless, the intensity in Malcolm’s gaze left Reese feeling momentarily rattled.
But Reese was no ordinary girl. Her courage was extraordinary; she mirrored strength with strength, and vulnerability with vulnerability.
Quickly regaining her composure, Reese repeated her words with a defiant look in her eyes, “I said go ahead and marry whoever you -mmph!”
Before she could finish, Malcolm’s tips were on hers, silencing her. His kiss, far from the usual tenderness, was assertive, sweeping her up in its force.
It was a side of Malcolm that Reese had rarely seen. To her, he’d always been endearing and doting; his eyes and tone filled with nothing but gentleness.
Now, his dominant presence made Reese believe this was his true nature he’d simply chosen to shield his sharpness from her, showing only his softest side.
As the kiss deepened, Reese’s senses dulled, her thoughts clouded by a lack of air. An instinctive urge to push him away surged within her. Yet even through their clothes, the heat of Malcolm’s firm chest was palpable in her palms.
Malcolm remained unyielding, not releasing her as he usually would with such ease.

Careful not to kick out, Reese was aware of her precarious position, suspended in Malcolm’s strong hold, any shift from him co
send her tumbling.
Narrowing her eyes in suspicion, it dawned on Reese that Malcolm might have planned this to leave her defenseless.
Realizing the moment, she understood that even the bravest men know when to yield, and she was no exception as a girl.
Reese lowered her gaze, murmuring awkwardly, “Malcolm… let… let me go, I can hardly breathe.”
Her voice was soft and melting, like ice cream threatening to dissol his resolve. Yet his body sent him warnings, hinting that if he continued, he might lose control.
Malcolm had patiently gained her trust, her comfort with his touch, his affection. He couldn’t risk undoing all his progress now.
With great effort, Malcolm quelled his desires and finally released her. The moment she was free, Reese’s eyes flashed fiercely; she sprung up with the support of the armrest and launched a spin kick at Malcolm.
A gust of air whooshed past him as he smirked and skillfully dodged her attack by leaning back.
Reese landed with poise, her demeanor shifting from delicate to fierely ready to strike. With a sly lift of his eyebrows, the man leased, “Begging for mercy one minute, ready to do some serious damage the next. Honey, this handsome face is my moneymaker.
