“You’ve got some nerve, Reese spat, irritation evident on her face as she wiped her lips, still feeling the tingling sensation.. “Saying you’ll find another wife; I’ll kiss you every time until you stop talking such nonsense,”
It was the first time Malcolm had ever spoken to Reese with such determination.
Reese was taken aback. Normally quick–witted, her mind suddenly went blank, and she found herself at a loss for words–a rarity. But her stubborn nature wouldn’t let her stay silent.
“You… you’re shameless!” she finally managed to retort.
“And shameless is still your husband, Malcolm shot back with a slight squint of his eyes and a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He rarely saw Reese flustered like this–cheeks puffed, her breath short just moments ago, now flushed and playfully charming.
Annoyed to no end, Reese grabbed her stuff.

“I can’t deal with you right now. I’m going to my room.”
Once she was back in her room, she quickly locked the door and leaned against it, exhaling deeply.
She hoped she’d thrown him off the scent, but she couldn’t let her guard down. Malcolm wasn’t likely to drop his suspicions quickly.
SD
He was a master actor–always grinning and joking on the surface, but who knew what schemes he was cooking up in his head.
Like earlier, she’d thought he was just being considerate about her sure feet by seating her on the railing, but he was really just prying for information.
Despicable.
Glancing at the bags of clothes, she felt no desire to admire her purchases. They were all just a charade to appease him anyway
Malcolm had planned to return to his room when Justin walked in with a look of urgency.
“Mr. Flynn, there’s something you need to know.”
“Let’s discuss it in my study,” Malcolm suggested, leading them to his study.
The man sat with his legs long and straight, his gaze collected but carrying a mist of intrigue.
What have you found?”
“I looked into Reese’s whereabouts. In the two hours before we met with Daniel, she war shopping along Glendale Avenue, then went to a spa
Malcolm frowned. ‘Are you saying she was actually at these places?||
That’s right. And she was using your
using your credit card. You should have seen the notifications.”
That had to be correct.
Malcolm found it peculiar, I gave her the card as soon as she became part of the Flynn family. I checked and all her expenses were covered with her own earnings. Do you think someone like her would suddenly start racking up charges using my card without any

in sensed something off. “It doesn t seem in line with Reese’s character. However, we lack any solid evidence proving the woman at the cafe was her. The resemblance isn’t quite there.”
intense sharpness.
“I’ve come across rumors of a Malcolm’s long fingers played with his wristwatch, his dark eyes filled with an highly advanced form of disguise, something beyond ordinary makeup or prosthetics. It’s said to be so effective that it can completely transform a person’s appearance to the point of being unrecognizable.”
Justin was astonished, “That exists?”
After a brief pause, his eyes widened. “Mr. Flynn, you can’t possibly be suggesting that Reese is proficient in this peculiar and advanced art of disguise?”
Malcolm drummed his fingers lightly on the table, his gaze complex, I can’t be certain; after all, it’s the stuff of legends, and I’ve never seen it firsthand.”
“If Reese really does possess this skill,” Justin cleared his throat, then that would mean her talents surpass yours. Could I then get your thoughts, Mr. Flynn? How does it feel knowing your wife might be more skilled? Any sense of inferiority?”
Malcolm cast Justin a cold sidelong glance, “She’s my wife, my woman. The benefits remain within my circle. Why should I feel inferior? I’m actually quite proud.”
Who else had a wife as formidable as mine?
Undeterred, Justin threw a further job. “But if your project got intercepted by your own wife, won’t that invite ridicule?”
“If you continue with these trivial questions, you can excuse yourself Malcolm replied curtly.
“Yes, sir,” Justin replied, quickly lowering his head.
Malcolm considered for a moment, “Focus on Calvin lately. See who else he’s in contact with so we might narrow down our
suspects.”
“Understood.” Justin had been running himself ragged over this.
He had been with Mr. Flynn for many years and had never seen a situation that left him stumped.. But Reese was like a fog, elusive
and intangible–an enigma.
When Malcolm returned to the room, Reese was already asleep. Glancing at the coat hanger, he noticed the new suit jacket with a tag still attached probably a purchase from her shopping trip that day.
If Malcolm knew that the gift was a heartfelt gesture from her, he would be thrilled. However, if it was merely a convenient purchase to cover something else, he realized he would need to work harder to earn a sincere token of affection from his wife.
Rising from his seat, he walked over to the bedside table and retrieved the first–aid kit. Gently, he lifted the blanket to reveal Reese’s pale feet, her skin so fair it almost glowed, even the soles of her feet were pristine.
However, the wound on her heel remained untended. Clearly, she wasnt too bothered by it; not having cleaned or bandaged the injury, shed just fallen asleep.
Malcolm opened the first–aid kit and applied antiseptic and anti–infimmatory cream with a cotton swab, demonstrating a ritual of care. Though Reese had been awake since the moment he’d pushede bedroom door open.
She had always been a light sleeper, disturbed by the slightest noise especially now, in the Flynn household, where she still had her guard up around Malcolm

Initially, when Malcolm grasped her ankle, her knee–jerk reaction was to kick out at him, but she resisted, realizing he seemed intent only on treating her injury.
It had occurred earlier that day during a mishap while showcasing her unique skills; those shoes were indeed a terrible fit.
The initial sting, probably from the disinfectant, might have drawn houts of pain from others, but not from Reese. Her resilience. forged from childhood challenges when bullies were a constant menace, taught her a vital lesson.
Crying out, making a scene, it didn’t take the pain away. Instead, it revealed your vulnerability, inviting further aggression.
Since then, Reese had learned to shield her emotions, endure silently, and never reveal her vulnerability to others.
Yet now, with Malcolm, her defenses had waned, not completely, but significantly less than before a veritable miracle for her.
She didn’t know what the
held with Malcolm, and although it worried her, there was an undeniable sense of anticipation.
