expression, releasing a theatrical sigh that seemed to echo up to the heavens. “Surely I’m w that, Reese?” he lamented. Seizing the moment, Lou playfully smacked the back of his head.
you really questioning our strategy, Cal? Lou demanded. “Justin is Malcolm’s right–hand man. If we don’t keep him occupied, we’ll be exposed the moment our cover slips. How do you propose we deal with that?”
Calvin appeared confounded. “Reese, havent you managed to get your husband under control yet?”
Reese shook her head, a wry smile on her face. “Impossible. Malcolm is too clever. Th
There’s no pulling the wool over his eyes.”
Reese always felt a sense of helplessness when discussing Malcolm. She was a woman who prided herself on her ability to tackle any challenge head–on, but Malcolm was a different kind of puzzle. His uncanny knack for uncovering secrets, tracing them back to their source, and discerning the subtlest of emotional tells made him a formidable opponent.
She was certain that Malcolm still harbored suspicions about their last project debacle, even though he lacked concrete evidence. Once the project was launched, maintaining secrecy would be virtually impossible.
Calvin was intimately familiar with Malcolm’s capabilities. In a few short years, Malcolm had transformed the Flynn Group into an industry powerhouse, outperforming even the most seasoned business veterans. This young man had single–handedly engineered commercial miracle.
Calvin had heard stories of Malcolm’s business acumen–decisive, ruthless, and efficient. Once Malcolm set his sights on a goal, he rarely deviated from his course. If not for Reese, who held a special place in Malcolm’s heart, Calvin might have found himself begrudgingly admiring the man.
Eventually, Calvin conceded. “Alright, fine. I’ll keep Justin busy. But you better make sure you do your part.”
Reese sat in front of her computer, her fingers dancing across the keyboard, her gaze icy, her demeanor authoritative–a stark contrast to her earlier joviality.
Tve emailed you the files. There are a few dangerous characters in there who are just as capable as any of us. They’re trying to smuggle drugs from China for sale on the black market, and they’re already in contact with foreign research facilities. Our job is to intercept them and return the drugs to the medical Institute. We can’t let our predecessors hard work fuel illegal trade.”
Louis straightened up. “Understood!”
Kay looked shocked as she sifted through the files. “Two of these guys are from elite Special Forces units. They’re accurate aim. They disappeared after their discharge, and now it turns out they were recruited by this outfit.”

Reese scoffed softly. “That’s exactly why I’m warning you about theks. If anything goes wrong, don’t say I didn’t warn you

finalizing their plans, Reese glanced at her watch and realized that it was getting late. She turned to Louis. “Could you drop
me off at Pearl Mall? I left my cur there.”
Calvin quickly interjected, “I can take you, R
you, Reese.”
She shook her head. “You need to lay low for now. We can’t give Justin any ammunition against you. It seems he’s still digging into
your affairs.
Calvin looked surprised. “He’s still investigating me? Why is he so obsessed?”

Im not sure. Maybe you’ve been too visible lately. Let’s go. We don’t have time to waste.”
Reese felt a sense of urgency. She knew that if she delayed any longer, Malcolm would come looking for her.
Calvin drove Reese to the mall. After retrieving her car, she manages to squeeze in a quick shopping spree before heading home.
When Reese entered the lobby.
shopping bags in hand, she saw Lucinda and Everly enjoying their tea. She ignored them, heading straight for the staircase.
Lucinda coughed for attention, then said to Everly, “Everly, I must say, the Flynn family is far too generous with some people. I’ve never seen such discourtesy before. Malcolm is a catch; he could have any girl he wants, yet he ends up with someone who lacks manners and respect for her elders. It’s a shame, truly,”
Everly looked frustrated as she replied. “Lucinda, what can we do? Malcolm spoils her too much. Even Grandpa Flynn doesn’t say
anything anymore.”
Lucinda sighed. “Grandpa Flynn was blinded by the moment and didn’t realize who the real troublemaker was. Would he have been so upset if it weren’t for the mess she made with the Silva debacle?
Lucinda wished she could march over and slap Reese, teaching her lesson in respect and humility.
The two women continued their critical exchange, seemingly oblivious to Reese’s presence. They seemed to think that even if Reese heard them, she wouldn’t dare respond.
But they underestimated Reese, She wasn’t one to plat revenge behind closed doors; if she had an issue, she addressed it directly.
Reese turned around and descended the stairs, her gaze sharp and piercing, like a hunter zeroing in on her prey. The intensity of her stare sent a shiver down Lucinda’s spine, and her smug expression froze in place.
Everly had experienced the chilling effect of Reese’s presence before, and it still overwhelmed her. She hung her head guiltily, unable to meet Reese’s gaze.
Reese scoffed with contempt. “If you’re so afraid of me, why do you keep trying to confront me? You know it won’t end well, right?
Her words were bold, but they carried a confidence that was hard to gnore, especially when paired with her mischievous, lopsided smile
Everly felt her dignity crumbling under Reese’s gaze. She clenched her fists and stood up, trying to make herself look more formidable.
“Reese, with all your talents, why did you marry into the Flynn Tamil? You’re beautiful–you could have any man, you Malcolm? I can tell you don’t really like him. You’re just using him. Everly accused.
ou want. Why
Reese raised an eyebrow. “Who says I don’t like Malcolm? He’s my husband–he adores me, loves me, and hes handsome. Why wouldn’t I like him? If you were in my shoes, how could you resist filling for him?”
Everly was left reeling, trying to follow Reese’s logic. She couldn’t think of a reason not to like Malcolm. He was so decent and Impressive; only a fool wouldn’t like him.
Reese smirked, clearly enjoying Everly s intelligence, or mine for that matter.
