Fall in Love with the Dominant Billionaire
Chapter 195 Reese in Peril
“The quickest I can manage is five minutes, but I can’t guarantee anything here,” he admitted, working deftly yet cautiously on the intricate device in his hands. The mechanism was far more complex than the usual safes he cracked with ease; it demanded time.
He couldn’t guarantee that they would breach it in five minutes, and carrying the safe with them was not an option. If they couldn’t extract its contents, they’d be sitting ducks, and dragging the safe along would only clip their wings. There might be a tracker hidden inside, marking them no matter where they went.
Reese had underestimated their adversaries‘ skills. She could hold be ground if it was a short hustle, but it had started looking
dicey.
However, at this point, all she could do was grit her teeth and bear
Her eyes s
shone with sheer determination. “You’ve got ten minutes.”
After that, it’d all be up to fate.
The men sizing up Reese knew she wasn’t the average Joe, and at her command, they sprang into action.
“Get the safe back or well catch hell from the boss! And grab her too?”
“Roger that, Reese!”
A handful of burly men opened fire on Reese with their guns. Her options for cover were slim, and she was steadily forced back. That’s when Kay appeared, tossing a smoke grenade and shouting, “Fall back!”
Reese nodded and crouched, scurrying to the rear.
Gunfire rattled in the tight space, and Kay sensed the situation deteriorating quickly.
“Miss Brooks, if we can’t make it out, take the goods and run. Don’t worry about us.”
“No
way!
We came together; we leave together,” Reese insisted, thinking they wouldn’t have brought firearms since the place was under tight security.
However, they had their ways. They’d managed to smuggle them in.
It was her lack of foresight that had put the team in jeopardy.
With their enemies closing in, and nowhere left to hide, Kay echoed Reese’s sentiment, “Then we stick together!”
A bloodthirsty gleam flashed in Reese’s eyes as she slid two daggers from their sheaths on her thighs, sharing a knowing look with Kay, who caught on immediately with a nod
As the gunmen advanced, Reese’s gaze turned icy. In a swift motion, the bounced onto a seat, jumped behind one, and drove her dagger deep into his neck, blood spurting violently,
The other man spun, aiming at Reese. She could ve dodged but got caught off–guard when her leg was grabbed by the man she’d stabbed. Her pupils dilated in stock,
Just as the bullet whizzed by, Kay, quick as lightning, kicked the gun off balance, evading the lethal shot,
Reese,
with ugile
movements, yanked her knife free and kicked the man away, finally breaking free.

In the midst of the scuffle, Kay had neutralized the gunman, but the sound of footsteps was getting louder behind them.
Reese and Kay exchanged a glance, both feeling the tide turning against them.
Kay, puzzled, said, “Reese, it sounds like there
there are still people in the car.”
“It’s definitely their backup; they wouldn’t send just a few people something this critical. We must’ve alerted them. You need to lump out the window now and find a way to escape. I’ll hold them all.”
It was the only way; otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to bring back the people or the object in question.
Sweat slicked Kay’s forehead, his composure slipping–a rare sight. He turned to see Louis, who was pale but fiercely focused amid
his nerves.
“How much longer, Louis?”
Louis’s hands trembled as he clenched his teeth, his voice quivering. This is way beyond what I can handle. Just a few more minutes.”
Kay was on edge, his fists clenched tight.
“We don’t have time. Can’t you hear them? There must be at least a dozen, and they’re armed. If you can’t crack it, we’re going to be riddled with bullets.”
Louis, panicked, seemed on the verge of losing it.
“Stop rushing me.”
The pressure was mounting.
Reese made the call. “If Louis can’t get it open in time, you two jump out. I’ll hold them off.”
It was the only way.
Kay objected, “No way, Miss Brooks. If you don’t make it back, Calvin’s going to have my head. I’ll stay; you and Louis go first.”
Despite the life–or–death stakes, Reeses seriousness etched upon her face held a stoic beauty. She appeared unnervingly calm and composed, as if she were out of harm’s reach.
It gave the illusion that s
she had long ago accepted the inevitability of death.
But only Reese knew that she always kept a farewell note in her drawer, fearing the day when a mission might turn out to be her last.
Although confident in her skills, the unpredictable nature of life and death was beyond anyone’s control.
Nevertheless, she harbored a steadfast belief and obligation to persist until the very last second.
At that
tmoment
La faint smile graced Reese’s lips.
“I’m Miss Brooks, aren’t I? If you still recognize me as Reese, then low my lead.”
Kay knew he could only stall them for a couple of minutes. Even if ouis managed to crack the safe in that time, retrieving the contents would be another hurdle, not to mention a safe escape,

Kay understood Reese’s intent–it was self–sacrifice, using herself as distraction to buy Louis time.
As much as these guys were willing to take her captive, they weren about to let her leave alive. Anyone brazen enough to traffic in the kinds of goods they dealt with certainly wasn’t afraid to play it fast and loose with their own life.
Kay had no choice but to concede. With a heavy heart, he said, “I get it.
Reese could hardly bother with a fight; she simply stood up, raising her hands in surrender.
The leader leveled a cold gun barrel at Reese, his gaze fierce and unforgiving.
“Hand over the package.”
Reese stood firm, a taunting smile playing on her lips, her eyes ablate with defiance. Her
presence was intimidating.
The leader had never expected such an intense aura from someone who looked so young. Were it not for his professional training, he might have been at this young woman’s mercy.
Reese’s voice was calm, unexpectedly serene, and free from any hint of fear. “We’re taking that package, one
way or another.”
The man’s finger tightened on the trigger, veins bulging on his face in a bloodthirsty anticipation. “Then you’ll die right here, and we’ll take the package all the same. Your friends won’t be leaving either.
Reese’s eyebrow lifted slightly, her gaze icy and resolute, the corner of her mouth curling into a defiant grin. “Go ahead, shoot. Kill me and the package is yours. But let me make one thing clear: it’s not yours to keep.
“You’re asking for it!”
Bang, bang, bang! Gunshots echoed through the train car.
Kays eyes widened in shock. “Reese…
