Chapter 200 The Smiling Grim Reaper–1
Once inside the research facility, Reese was greeted by the sight of Robert. Had he not retired, he would still be a hot commodity the medical community.
As soon as she entered, she enthusiastically greeted him, “Grandpa obert.”
It had been some time since Robert last saw Reese, yet he always looked forward to her visits, especially to discuss medical knowledge and scholarly issues with her. The questions she asked and the conclusions she drew always took him by surprise.
In his years of medicine, Reese was a rarity, distinguished by her natural talent and intelligence, and her way of thinking was nothing short of admirable.
Over the years, her contributions to the field of medicine had been invaluable, with numerous significant discoveries accredited to her. Thus, he treasured this talent immensely, treating her almost as if she were his own granddaughter.
As Robert approached her, his face creased further into a smile, a detail he paid no mind to.
“Reese, Grandpa s been itching for a visit. If it weren’t for these big conferences, like today, I reckon we’d hardly ever see you.” familiar voice approached Reese with warmth and a tinge of complaint.
Reese had a soft spot for Robert, the mentor who had first recognized her talents and taught her so much. She owed him a great deal of respect.
She hugged him back, saying, “Grandpa, I’ve missed you too. It’s just been one hectic period after another. I’ve had no time to swing
“Kay delivered the package. I heard about Louis’s injury. I hate to see you kids facing such tough times.”
Robert was in the loop about their recent mission. There was no one else but Reese up for the job, skilled as she was, it had to be her.
“It’s all good. We have got the goods, so our efforts weren’t in vain. Let’s crack it open and see, she responded.

By the time Reese emerged from the meeting, it was already 7 p.m. Robert and a few other esteemed members of the medical community treated her with exceptional courtesy.
“Dr. Reese, we owe you big time. Without your breakthrough, we’d still be clueless. Now we can go straight to producing the medicine. If it proves effective, we’ll be witnessing another medical marvel,” lauded one of the seniors.
Absolutely.
To this day, no ones developed a cure for cancer. And to think, you’ve managed to make headway,” another chimed in.
Inside, Reese knew the cancer fighting drug still needed perfecting What they had was merely the tip of the iceberg; without Matteone completing its development, it was akin to useless scrap metal.
Sering Brese, Robert couldn’t help but feel proud. “When can you wrap up your current tasks? The medical world needs you back

Jokingly, Reese replied, Tirandpa, me, in danger? 11 anyone tries to ach me, they’d be

Remembering Reese’s formidable skills, Robert nodded in agreement. Right, right, I almost forgot about that! Just be careful out
there.
Sure, Grandpa. See you soon.
With that, Reese left the research institute.
An elderly colleague standing by Robert watched her leave and sighed, marveling at her departing silhouette.
Back then, no one could have imagined that a twenty–year–old girl would become a legend in the medical field, emerging as the backbone of our medical school.

Robert stroked his beard, his laughter deepening with pride, “I told you all from the start. My judgment is never off.”
From the moment he laid eyes on Reese, he knew she was a once–in–generation prodigy, someone with an extraordinary gift for medicine. And sure enough, she had proven him right.
Reese walked up to the curb, intending to hail a cab when Malcolm’s words from earlier that day unexpectedly popped into her
head.
Finish up and give your husband a call. He’ll come pick you up.
Ordinarily, Reese felt no anticipation for returning anyplace. Home was just a temporary rest stop for her a place to recharge without any sense of warmth or belongingness.
The one place that had ever given her those feelings no longer existed. Ever since her grandmother’s passing, she had never returned to the old countryside house.
But what she did not anticipate was the sense of longing to return home that this man had inspired in her.
She withdrew her hand from flagging down a cab and texted Malcolm instead, worrying that a call might seem too eager.
Besides, she had to settle some accounts with Calvin soon.
Her message to Malcolm was brief.
I’m done.
No questions about when he would pick her up – just the essential information.
Malcolm had just received an emergency notification on the other end. A critical issue with a company project demanded a shareholder meeting to discuss a resolution.
Sitting in his executive chair, his gaze narrowed, and
a
dangerous edge crossed his handsome face.
“Can’t any of you come up with a solution?” His voice, deep and icy, sent a shiver down the spines of his team.
“Mr. Flynn is terrifying when he’s angry.”
“He’s not exactly a ray of sunshine normally. I’ve been with the company for years, and I’ve never seen him smile.”
“That’s why they call him the Iceman.”
With a sweep of his arm, Malcolm hurled the documents ont
the table.
“If no one has any ideas, then nobody’s leaving tonight.”
Groans filled the room.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated. As he read Reese’s message, a smile crept across his face.
His wife had initiated contact for the first time. It was a sign she still cared for him.
The meeting room fell silent and was then filled with his unexpected hearty laughter, causing the staff to question their hearing.

But they weren’t the only ones who’d heard.
As they all lifted their heads to look at the man at the center, realization dawned.
The Iceman was smiling something utterly unimaginable was happening!
“My God! Did you see that? Mr. Flynn smiled! And that too in such a heart–stealing way!”
“Wow, that just melted my heart,” a lady gushed, unable to contain her delight.
Everyone was wondering what had put Mr. Flynn in such high spirits. “I bet it’s a huge deal. There’s no way Mr. Flynn would be grinning that widely for anything less,” one of them speculated.
“But we’ve seen Mr. Flynn handle massive deals before. Even when our company was crowned the top business empire, I never saw him crack a smile like that,” another pointed out, puzzled.
“I’m just as curious but, sadly, we’re in the dark here,” someone lamented.
What none of them could have guessed was that the person who had effortlessly brought a smile to the stern Mr. Flynn’s face was a woman in her early twenties.
The man rose without a moment’s hesitation, his long fingers deftly navigating the touchscreen.
Hang on, honey–almost there!
He looked up and addressed the still–shocked shareholders. “I want a comprehensive plan on my desk first thing tomorrow morning, or don’t bother showing up at all.”
