car, dragging Calvin along. The security men w

Whoa, they’d never seen a drop–dead gorgeous woman before. She was like an angel straight outta heaven.
Just her figure, her flawless skin, and those perfect features had the guards, who’ve seen their fair share of high society, completely floored. That kind of beauty and grace combo? Super rare.
Calvin stood next to Reese, chuckling to himself about the guards dumbstruck faces.
Any guy would be knocked out by Reese’s looks. That was her outer charm. But her personality? Sometimes she was as sweet as honey, but one sharp look from her and people scattered.
She snagged a seat in the second row, off to the side, not wanting to be the center of attention. She was here to snag a bracelet and then bounce, no plans to stick around.
Calvin leaned in and whispered, “Reese, after this, come chill at the club with us. Everyone’s been missing you, it’s been ages.“
“Nah, I gotta get home and take care of my husband’s leg. The sooner he’s up and about, the sooner I can grill him about Grandma.”
She was sure Malcolm owed her big time and would spill the beans.
Calvin could barely wrap his head around it–Reese, their wild and carefree buddy, seemed to be changing her ways for some guy. She used to hit the club with them almost every other night. Now that she’s hitched, it’s like she’s lost her taste for it.
This was so not Reese
“Reese, come on. Arent you getting a bit too wrapped up in this guy? You’re only married to dig into Grandma’s death. Don’t get all emotional, or you’ll never get out clean. We’ve got bigger plans, remember?”
He was seriously worried Reese might catch feelings for Malcolm and lose sight of their big dreams. They’d sworn to become the richest folks on the planet.
Reese couldn’t stand people yapping in her ear, and Calvin was the worst of them all.
“Enough already. Keep it up, and you can wait outside. You’re getting on my last nerve.”
Calvin awkwardly pulled back. “Alright, I’ll zip it. But Reese, I’m just looking out for you. Don’t let your hubby’s good looks mess with your bead.”
“Did I ask for your two cents?” Reese smacked him on the head with her clutch.
Calvin finally shot his trap.
The auction kicked off with some snooze–fest items like utensils and teacups, none of which caught Reese’s eye. She was so bored she almost nodded off in her seat.
Finally, the bracelet she had her eye on came up, but by then, she was already dozing on Calvin’s shoulder.
Calvin kept nudging her, “Reese, your bracelets up.”
Herse finally opened her eyes and saw the person on stage holding the bracelet. It was exquisite, elegant, unique, and luxurious–a rare gem. She’d liked it from the pictures Calvin showed her, but seeing it in person was a whole different ball game.
She made up her mind right then and there. “No matter what, I’m getting that bracelet today.”
“Gut it, Reese.”
The starting bid was $5 million. This bracelet was no joke, and everyone in the know understood its worth.
“$7 million.”

Reese sat hack, cool as a cucumber. She wasn’t into the whole back–and–forth haggling scene. She preferred to wait until the final price was called swoop in and snag it.
The price kept climbing and finally hit $8 million, with no one daring to go higher.
The auctioneer called out, “55 million once, $8 million twice, 18 million th-
“59 million,” Calvin shouted, raising the paddle..
The crowd went nuts.
This price was way over the bracelet’s market value. These rich folks really didn’t care about money.
Even t
the auctioneer was floored, $5 million was already a lot, and now it had jumped to $7 million.
“Alright, this gentleman has bid $9 million. Is there anyone else? 59 million once, 59 million twice, 19 million th-
“$10 million!”
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out.
The crowd couldn’t hold back their reactions.
“How did it get to $10 million? My God.”
is a man so eager to get it?”
“Isn’t this bracelet being bid on by a woman? 7 Why is
“You don’t get it. He must be buying it for his girlfriend. Some guys are just that generous for their girlfriends.”
“His girlfriend must be one lucky lady.”
Calvin was fuming that someone dared to compete with Reese for the bracelet.
“What kind of guy bids on a woman’s item? He must be doing it just to mess with us. No way we let someone else take what Reese wants. Reese, should we up the bid?”
lat pale.
Reese was already stunned, her face a bit
Calvin nudged her, “Reese, what’s up? Shocked by the $10 million bid?”
Reese still didn t speak. Calvin thought she was upset and started rolling up his sleeves, ready to stand up.
“Let me go have a word with that guy. How dare he compete for something Reese wants!”
“Calvin, he’s my husband,”
Calvin was floored, turning to look at Reese in astonishment. “Reese, your… your husband? Why is he bidding on a bracelet? Could it be that he has….. another woman?”
