Chapter 288 Resolute Victory
Lucio was left utterly dumbfounded. The penalty had been tripled, a um far surpassing the project’s value.
He had always recognized Reese’s competence, but to assert such a daring proposition?
Reese’s assistant was even more taken aback, her mouth agape in shock, her gaze fixed on Reese in sheer disbelief.
“Ms. Reese, we must tread carefully,” she cautioned. “If Colin catches wind of this, I’ll be skinned alive.*
She had assumed that Reese was merely echoing the assertiveness of her husband, Mr. Flynn. It was not uncommon for the spouse of such a formidable figure to exude a certain level of confidence, regardless of their own abilities.
But now, with the company’s interests hanging in the balance and considering Reese’s familial ties to Colin, the assistant felt dwarfed in comparison. She was a mere subordinate, after all, and she couldn’t dare to compete with Mrs. Flynn of the esteemed Flynn family.
She felt compelled to dissuade Reese from this course of action, fearing that she would be the one to face the consequences.
However, Reese remained unperturbed. “Don’t fret,” she assured her assistant. “I’ll shoulder the responsibility. You can claim ignorance, say you had to step out to the restroom.”
“But…
“Mr. Lucio, let’s not squander any more time. Make the call.”
Reese had other obligations to attend to and couldn’t afford to spend her entire afternoon on this project.
In truth, she saw potential in it, but there were far more lucrative ventures to explore. Her ability to identify profitable projects was uncanny–none of her ventures had ever failed to yield a profit.
Consider, for instance, the robot project that was now gaining momentum. While other businesses were scrambling to keep pace, Reese had already secured her golden ticket, leaving the rest to scrounge for leftovers.
Lucio observed Reese, her confidence radiating from her, and decided it was worth making a call to inquire. If the profits were
indeed substantial, it was worth taking a risk.
Reese was no ordinary woman. The hesitation lay in collaborating with Brooks Enterprises. Had it been her own venture, they would have signed a contract without a second thought. They had previously met with Kenneth and discussed business, but truth be told, they found him rather disagreeable. As a result, their opinion of Brooks Enterprises was less than favorable.
After much contemplation, Lucio sent a video message to the only superior in his company who could make a decision on such matters. He briefly outlined the situation, took photographs of Reese’s proposal and contract, and sent them over.
The assistant beside him was paralyzed with fear, anticipating a harsh reprimand upon her return, perhaps even risking her job.
With no immediate response, Lucio wondered if Reese’s steep terms were too much for the company to handle. Personally, he was skeptical and felt that Reese was overestimating her influence.
He refrained from pressing further; they were both awaiting a response while the woman across nonchalantly fiddled with her Smartphone and hummed a tune, exuding an air of absolute confidence.
Lucio shook his head with a wry smile. Confidence was admirable, but overconfidence could easily become obstinacy.
“Lucio.” His boss’s voice echoed from the video feed.

“Here, boss,” Lucía responded hastily.
“Approve this project immediately!”
“What! Boss, are you certain? They’ve increased the price by twenty percent; it’s going to cost the company a fortune!
Have you lost your senses? Can’t you see the potential profits here? A twenty percent increase is negligible compared to the value it will bring in the long run.”
Lucio received a stern reprimand from his boss, who then abruptly ended the call, leaving him in a state of shock. Was his boss aware that it was Reese he was dealing with? He had only mentioned Brooks Enterprises, not Reese herself.
“But this…” he began.
“If you can’t secure this deal, don’t bother coming back.”
Reese crossed her legs, leaned back, and turned her gaze towards Lucio.
“So, are we proceeding with this?”
Lucio snapped back to reality and nodded frantically.
“Yes, yes, absolutely.”
He hastily pulled a pen from his shirt pocket and scribbled his signature on the contract without a second glance, then stood up and extended a hand towards Reese.
“Here’s to a successful partnership, Miss Reese.”
“Very well.”
The assistant watched the scene unfold, utterly flabbergasted.
A deal had been signed just like that? What was happening? Numerous representatives had visited that office, and none had managed to seal the deal. Then Miss Reese strolls in, spends less than an hour pitching a proposal, and even raises the price by twenty percent–a move no rational person would agree to.
It was bewildering. Unbelievable, even.
She could already envision the company’s shareholders‘ jaws dropping in shock when they learned that Miss Reese had accomplished this “impossible mission.”
After the signing was concluded, the assistant trailed behind Reese as they exited the coffee shop, her mind still reeling from the
recent events.
If she had ever doubted Reese before, she now held her in the highest regard. It was astounding how swiftly Reese had wrapped
things up.
Looking at Reese, her eyes sparkled with admiration. “Miss Reese, how can you be so certain they would sign?” she asked.
Reese’s smile was serene, tinged with a hint of cunning. “Isn’t it obvious? An excellent proposal plus sizable profits to follow.”
Only a fool wouldn’t sign.
The assistant hung her head, murmuring, “Okay, then.”

It sounded plausible enough–she didn’t fully grasp the intricacies, but she knew this much: Many from Brooks Corporation had tried and failed to secure the project. Reese’s success was a testament to her competence.
Meanwhile, Kenneth sat in his office while Dahlia Brooks stood nearly, still discussing Reese’s matter.
“Dad, Reese can’t possibly close this deal, right?”
Dahlia was hoping for a failure so that even if Reese could stay at the company, she would always face challenges from the other shareholders.
Kenneth was unusually confident: “Definitely not. How many times have we tried? Have they ever agreed to our terms?”
Despite their numerous revised proposals and even reducing the price, they had made no progress–Reese would fare no better.
Dahlia pondered for a moment. “What if she used Malcolm’s connections?”
Kenneth dismissed the idea. “I doubt Reese would resort to that. Despite not growing up with me, I know she’s fiercely independent and proud. It’s not in her nature to rely on others like that.”
Dahlia’s concerns finally settled. “As long as she doesn’t use Malcolms influence, there’s no way she can land this deal.”
“Colin, Miss Reese is back,” announced Kenneth’s assistant, opening the door to share the news.
