Chapter 291 Reese Takes the Initiative
Dahlia Brooks found herself in a mental maze, her mind churning with the realization that she had indeed crossed paths with Reese
on more than one occasion.
“But… there was no need for this, she muttered to herself. Reese’s response was as cold as ice. ‘Given my status, I doubt you’d last a minute in this ruthless Atlanta scene. But I’m keeping you at the tim because, honestly, your presence amuses me. It’s a perverse pleasure to watch you squirm, like a worm on a hook.”
It was as if Dahlia had become the mouse in Reese’s Cat–and–mouse game, not to be hastily devoured but left to writhe in agony before the inevitable end. Dahlia felt like a mere puppet in Reese’s ranipulative hands, a pawn pushed to the brink of insanity by the cruel machinations of Reese’s game.
In these moments, the true danger that Reese posed became glaringly clear to Dahlia.
As Reese gathered her papers and sauntered past a shell–shocked Dahlia, a sinister smile played on her lips. She dropped a warning as she passed, “Watch your step. One more mistake, and it’s game over. And trust me, you won’t see it coming.
Even after Reese had exited the room, Dahlia remained rooted to the spot, her eyes smoldering with a mix of anger and indignant rejection. Reese had crossed a line, and Dahlia was resolute in her decision not to let her get away with it. “Just wait until she falls from grace, then we’ll see how long she can strut around with nothing,” Dahlia vowed.
As the day gave way to the darkening evening, Reese emerged from the office building. Without a car and with taxis in short supply, she was about to dial Malcolm when his call came through.
“Hey, babe, done playing cat–and–mouse for the day?” he teased. He didn’t need to ask; anyone who had been on the receiving end of Reese’s tactics had surely had a rough day.
An hour earlier, he had discovered that his spirited wife had sealed the deal for the Brooks Corporation. Despite hiking up the price by twenty percent, the deal was met with high satisfaction–a testament to the substantial profits. No one would sign a contract in a matter of minutes unless there was real money to be made.
At the sound of his voice, Reese couldn’t help but chuckle. “All done. And it was pretty satisfying,” she replied.”
“I’m across the street. Do you see me?” Malcolm’s voice, filled with a warm rasp from the breeze, was a soothing balm to her ears.
Reese glanced across the street instinctively and spotted him–his tall figure leaning casually against the car door, his striking features drawing more than a few lingering glances.
Even a few girls walking by halted in their tracks.
“Excuse me, handsome, can I have your number?” one of them asked. Without a moment’s hesitation, Malcolm declined, nodding proudly towards Reese across the street. “Sorry, but you’ll have to clear that with my wife over there.”
The girls, still reeling from the surprise, hadn’t quite recovered when Reese sauntered over. “Hey, if you’re looking for some good- looking guys, I’ve got plenty of contacts. Wanna check them out?” Reese offered, flipping through her phone to display a parade of handsome faces.
The girl was initially shy, but as she scanned through the sea of attractive men, she couldn’t help but drool. She looked at Reese shyly. “Can I really add one of them?” She had a sneaking suspicion that the beautiful Reese was pulling her leg.
Reese responded with a nonchalant shrug, “Go for it, it’s no big deal.
Malcolm watched the unfolding scene, thoroughly amused. True to form, his wife never played by the rules–she danced to the beat of her own drum. She wouldn’t let the girl add her own husband’s contact but didn’t mind her adding other guys, all while avoiding any offense.

Chapter 291 Reese Takes the Initiative
Typically, Reese would have scored the girl off by now, but today she seemed to be in an unusually good mood.
The girl hesitated before asking cautiously,
*Can Ladd a few?”
“Just one,” Reese replied, her tone cutt and clear.
The girl wasn’t too persistent. Even adding one was a victory–apparently, attractive people had equally attractive friends. She chose one she particularly liked and thanked Reese profusely.
“Thanks so much! I’ll get going then,” the girl said, grateful.
“Take care,” Reese waved her off.
Once the girl was out of sight, Reese noticed she had added Calvin. That guy had a pretty–boy vibe the young ones were drawn to these days. Still, she couldn’t help but think his goofy personality might end up driving the girl nuts.
Putting her phone away, Reese walked up to Malcolm. “How did you know I’d be coming out here?”
“I’ve been here awhile, knew you were busy and didn’t call,” Malcolm replied, a smile playing on his lips. He ruffled Reese’s hair with an affectionate gesture, drawing admiring glances from onlookers.
“That guy is spoiling her rotten. They look like a match made in heaven–check out their style! Incredible.”
“If it wasn’t so intrusive, I’d have snapped a picture.”
“Same here. When can I find a guy that sharp? And did you see his car? It’s a limited edition, only seen on TV. Ridiculously cool.”
Reese lopped her arm around Malcolm’s waist while he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, as if sheltering her from the world.
“Let’s get in the car, you must be tired after a long day,” Malcolm suggested, his understanding bringing a smile to her face.
“As long as you know I’m tired, that’s all that matters,” she replied, her tone playful, hinting at her anticipation for a quiet night at
home.
Leaning in close, Malcolm’s warm breath brushed against her skin as he whispered into her ear, his voice low and seductive, “Honey, it’s alright. When we get home tonight, I’ll take care of everything. You won’t have to lift a finger.”
Reese’s usually pale cheeks flushed bright red at his audacious words especially in such a public setting. Her heart raced–a mix of shock and pleasure surged through her. Had any other man dared to speak to her like that, she would have sent him packing to the hospital, repulsed.
But with Malcolm, it was different. His words sent her heart into a flutter, a feeling she had never experienced before, yet with him, it was all too real. It’s no wonder people throw caution to the wind for love, acting as if life depends on it–even when love can be as toxic as it is intoxicating. Fear of getting too lost in it and not being able to let go gripped her.
Noticing Reese was somewhat distracted, Malcolm gently bit her soft delicate earlobe. “Focus for me, babe. What’s on your mind?”
Reese felt a damp touch on her ear, sending her hormones into overdrive. She turned slightly, gave him a brief glance, and then initiated a kiss.
She had no one to blame but herself–it was his own doing.
Inside, Malcolm was overcome with a thrill, his deep eyes flashing with surprise. His fiery little wife was kissing him first!
