Chapter 292 Shattering the Spell
As Reese regained her composure, she was taken aback by her own dacity. She had impulsively kissed Malcolm. As she contemplated withdrawing, Malcolm held her head firmly, intensifying the kiss and denying her any chance of escape. She melted into him, her lips gleaming with 1 onging..
Malcolm’s voice, laden with temptation, whispered in her ear, “Darling, perhaps we could continue this in the car…”
The words” in the car” sent a shiver down Reese’s spine, snapping her back to reality. “No…”
They were situated directly opposite the office, amidst the hustle and bustle of rush hour. Anyone would notice a car rocking in such a busy time.
Malcolm hadn’t been entirely serious, despite the fleeting temptation to succumb. After all, his wife’s beauty and allure naturally stirred his desire.
He removed his jacket and draped it over her, “Let’s take our time at home.”
Reese couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that Malcolm, the man she thought she knew, was veering off the straight and narrow. This change wasn’t merely superficial; it was as if a yearning for something had taken root within him.
She had a pressing question for Malcolm and decided to confront him directly.
“Have you never really dated before? Is it all pent–up because you were incapacitated for so long, and now it’s like you’re experiencing some kind of… energy surge?”
Malcolm’s eyebrow arched in surprise, a glimmer of curiosity in his eyes as he regarded Reese.
“Darling, are you suggesting that your husband couldn’t attract a lady friend?” The implication being, it wasn’t that he couldn’t find someone; he had simply chosen to remain single.
Reese could detect the self–congratulatory tone in his voice without even trying. “Let’s just go home.”
“Why?” he retorted.
She rolled her eyes at him. “Do you really want the whole world to witness your charm?”
The realization dawned on him, and his eyes sparkled
with
a
smile. Alright, let’s head home, right now.”
With that, he floored the accelerator, and the car shot forward like a bullet.
Reese noticed that Malcolm’s driving had significantly improved from before, sparking a thought in her mind.
Raising an eyebrow, she queried, “Have you been secretly practicing your driving?”
Malcolm scoffed dismissively. “Your husband is so adept and sharp–why would I need to practice? Isn’t it natural to improve with a little more time behind the wheel?”
“That wasn’t the case before.”
Reese could tell that Malcolm’s driving had become more daring than before; she estimated that with a bit more practice, would match her skill level.
She never doubted Malcolm’s abilities or his capacity to learn new skills–whatever he attempted, he mastered far more quickly than
most.

Malcolm was all charm that day. “Isn’t it all to impress my wife some lay?”
His words visibly piqued her interest.
“When?”
Truth be told, it had been a long time since she’d found someone who could keep pace with her the last person who could had abruptly left town. Since then, she hadn’t found another rival as captivating as him.
Malcolm could see the anticipation on Reese’s face; he hadn’t realized his wife’s enthusiasm for racing.

Reese was taken aback, “You know abo here’s a street racing even. Interested in joining?”
street races in Monterey?”
“Yeah, Monterey’s pretty much a hub for underground racing. Volunteers only, but it’s filled with pros. Winning isn’t a cakewalk.
Seeing Reese so interested got Malcolm thinking.
“Hmm, if my better half is game, how about we participate next week? We could bring home the victory.”
Reese’s heart pounded with excitement, and she yearned to kiss Malcolm then and there but managed to restrain herself.
As soon as they arrived home, Malcolm had Reese pinned against the wall, tilting his head to claim her lips in a fervent kiss. Their body heat escalated as desire hung heavy in the air between them.
With one hand, Malcolm unbuttoned Reese’s shirt, revealing her porcelain skin. He lowered his head slightly, nipping tenderly at her collarbone while his eyes smoldered with intense passion.
His steady breathing now turned ragged.
But as the moment escalated, the rhythm was shattered by a frantic knock on the door.
“Reese, Reese… help!”
The mood nosedived instantly. Malcolm’s brows knitted together, his face clouded with annoyance, and Reese instinctively pushed
him away.
“It’s Alyssa.”
Malcolm’s lips tightened, clearly irked by Alyssa’s poorly timed interruption, wishing he could simply make her disappear.
Before Reese could react, Malcolm stormed toward the door, with Alyssa still hammering on it, desperate for a response.
“Reese, are you-”
“Alyssa, did you forget our last conversation? Looking for trouble?” Malcolm snapped, alluding to the moment she’d just spoiled.
Alyssa looked up at Malcolm, confused. “What… what’s wrong?”

She had only knocked urgently, why did Malcolm look like he’d swallowed a bitter pill?
By then Reese had straightened her clothes and emerged, “What’s happening?”
Only then did Alyssa notice Reese’s flushed cheeks and, piecing together Malcolm’s foul mood, she suddenly understood and quickly lowered her head in apology.
“I’m so sorry, really. I didn’t mean to interrupt, but my situation is urgent. Anyway, I’ve already disturbed you, so even if I let you two continue… it probably wouldn’t be the same, right?”
Little did she know, her comment only intensified the storm in Malcolm’s eyes. Alyssa felt a chill just looking at him. Her shoulders sagged and her voice was laced with regret.
“Malcolm, I’m sorry, I messed up, but I really need to talk to Reese about something important,” she blurted out, acutely aware that her future career and reputation could hinge on this conversation.
Reese, sensing the gravity in her voice, seemed to already have an inkling of the issue. Her eyebrow raised, she prodded, “Is there trouble brewing with your fans?”
