Chapter 294 Pro Gamer Sparring Partner
“Hold your tesponte fort now,” Reese advised.
Alyssa’s eyes widened in shock. What do you mean, hold my response? If we don’t act now, we’re done for. Reese, have you seeri what they’re saying about me online? They’re practically crucifying with their words. I feel like I’m drowning in their spits –
Alyssa was no stranger to harsh words, but even her thick skin had its limits. The infernet trolls had dragged her name through the dirt, hurling every insult they could muster het way. Her spirits had been in a steady decline over the past few days.
Reese had never seen Alyssa this agitated before, but it made sense. After being adored by her fans for so long, to suddenly face their wrath was a bitter pill to swallow.
Reese knew she would have handled it differently. To her, the opinions of those who truly cared about her mattered the most.
Obsessing over what others think can be a heavy burden. It’s often better to simply follow your heart.
“Our priority now is to improve your game,” Reese stated firmly. “Isn’t the main issue that they’re questioning the authenticity of your plays? The solution is simple–show them you have the skills to back it up.”
Identifying the root of the problem was the first step to solving it.
There was no point in trying to appease the critics now; it would only be a temporary solution. The same doubts would resurface the next time Alyssa streamed. The most effective strategy was to win them over, fair and square.
However, Reese’s suggestion seemed to push Alyssa to the brink of panic.
“Reese, are you joking? Let’s be realistic, I know my limits, and reaching your level within a year isn’t feasible.”
Reese looked at her calmly. “Who said anything about giving
“Then what are you suggesting? Six months? A few months?”
“Three days.”
you a year?”
“Reese, you’re killing me! How could I possibly… I mean, I’m not terrible, but reaching your level in three days is more than impossible–it’s like asking for a miracle.”
Reese was remarkably patient with Alyssa. Anyone else would have lost their cool by now.
“I’m not expecting you to reach my level. You just need to win. Prove that your play is flawless when you’re up against someone.”
Otherwise, it was too easy for critics to spot weaknesses–especially in this day and age, fans are savvy and they’ll know if your
performance is lacking.
Alyssa pouted, “Is this the only way?”
“Do you have a better idea? Hiring a bunch of fake supporters to flood the comments with praise?”
She shook her head, “I’d rather not.”
She knew better. That approach would only backfire and potentially spell the end of her streaming career.
Reese was all about planning and action. Once she decided on a course, she’d pursue it relentlessly.

Checking her watch, Reese noted, “We’re short on time. You have just three days, so your might want to consider skipping sleep
tonight.
Alyssa was eager to reclaim her ptime, especially determined not to et Everly gain the upper hand. She was all in.
“Alright, I’ll take your word for it.
“I’ll lay down the basics for you, you’ll have to grasp the rest on your own. Try to learn something from reat battles,
Alyssa looked up, “But who’s going to practice with me? The usual matches I get, I can handle no problem.”
However, when live–streaming, sometimes fans would request matchups with more skilled players, and those made her less confident.
Reese pondered for a moment and glanced at the clock.
“How about 1 arrange for a couple of pros to spar with you?”
“Pro… professional players to practice with me?”
Reese must be dreaming, she thought, still caught up in some daydream.
Reese couldn’t be bothered with the chatter: “So, do you want it or not?”
“Yes, yes, yes!” Alyssa nodded eagerly. Practicing with professional players was an honor beyond measure. But wasn’t this overkill?
Reese was growing tired of Alyssa’s indecisiveness; the siblings were so different. Malcolm wasn’t like this. Who did this girl take after? ▾
She pulled out her smartphone and dialed King’s number, who was quite surprised to receive a call from Reese.
“Miss Brooks, calling me? Are you looking to make a comeback and set up a match with me?”
“No, are you free these next few days? I need a favor.”
King blurted out without a second’s hesitation, “Miss Brooks, if you need something, don’t worry about my schedule. Just say the word, and I’m there.”
“I need you to help someone out, get her skills polished up.”
King was puzzled, “Miss Brooks, who exactly would have you personally reaching out to me?”
“My brother–in–law’s sister.”
Reese was straightforward, not skirting around the fact.
“Holy smokes, Miss Brooks, you’re married? What’s the deal, did you quit pro gaming for marriage?”
He vividly remembered the two matches Miss Brooks played that had everyone their feet. The idea that she’d just… vanish, was
unthinkable.
Such a waste; the best team had offered her a fortune to join, and she turned them down. After that, she disappeared without a trace, leaving everyone clueless.
He would only occasionally touch base with Miss Brooks, given his busy practice schedule.

Reese didn’t have the time for lengthy chat with King, “I’m pressed for time, get on it, will you?”
“Fine, send me her contact details, I’ll squeeze in a couple sessions
4th her.
“You gotta level up her skills, you feel me?” Reese waited for Alyssa polish her gaming before considering whether she was ready for a live stream match against others. Fans were sure to tune in, but if she couldn’t impress with her skills, they might not be on
board.
King was brimming with confidence, “Miss Brooks, don’t worry. Even if others don’t, surely you know what I’m capable of?”
“Alright, I’ll pass your contact to her.”
“Great.”
After hanging up, Reese looked up King’s number to share with Alyssa. “Trust me, he’s got the skills; no doubt about it. Besides his constant goofing off, there’s no issue with him.”
Before Reese could get a response, she noted Alyssa’s stunned expression and waved a hand in front of her, “Hello? Earth to Alyssa?”
