Chapter 304 Merely a Formality
Reese emerged into the hallway, her presence immediately acknowledged by Justin with a respectful greeting. “Reese, he said.
- Shp returned his greeting with a nonchalant nod before retreating back into her room.
A sense of unease washed over Justin. Heese’s demeanor seemed off. Hadn’t she been furious just moments ago? Why did it seem as if nothing had transpired? Based on his observations, Reese should have been seething. How had Mr. Flynn managed to pacify her so swiftly? It was uncharacteristic of the Reese he knew. Mr. Flynn’s ability to calm the storm was becoming increasingly impressive
Suddenly, the study door swung open, revealing Malcolm standing in the doorway. “Join me for a moment,” he requested.
“Of course,” Justin replied, stepping into the room. Once the door was securely closed behind him, he asked, “Mr. Flynn, is there anything else you need me to do??
“Did you find out what 1 asked about?” Malcolm inquired, referring to the location Reese was planning to visit.
“I’ve found some leads, but nothing is confirmed yet. It seems to be inked to a certain organization,” Justin responded, his knowledge of such organizations hinting at the complexity of Reese identity.
Malcolm’s eyes momentarily widened in surprise before he quickly regained his composure. If Reese was indeed connected to an organization, it wouldn’t be entirely unexpected. From what he had gathered about her recently, she was far from ordinary. As for her true identity, he had to admit, he hadn’t figured it out himsell. Jistin’s revelation didn’t shock him as much as he had anticipated.
“No wonder he was always probing me; it all makes sense now,” Malcolm mused aloud. Agencies were never allies; they were always at adds due to self–interest–be it personal or collective.
He stroked his chin, lost in thought for a moment, before turning to justin. “So you’re saying Everhart’s part of the agency too?”
He had met Everhart before. There was something about him–something elusive–that had caught his attention the first time they
“It’s highly likely,” Justin confirmed.
“Then arrange a meeting with Everhart for me, I have some questions for him,” Malcolm instructed, realizing his understanding of Reese was more superficial than he had thought.
Justin agreed to the meeting but raised a crucial point. “Mr. Flynn, I doubt Everhart will disclose anything about Reese. His loyalty to the agency could result in severe consequences if he were to reveal secrets.”
Everhart wouldn’t easily divulge everything to Mr. Flynn, especially not after a single encounter.
Malcolm sneered, a confident glint in his eyes. “Do you really think be so naive as to directly question him?
That’s when Justin realized his oversight. Mr. Flynn was a man of careful thought and planning. He wasn’t the type to rashly approach Everhart.
Tl get right on it,” Justin assured, turning to leave.
“Hold
Let’s schedule it for two days after Reese leaves,” Malcolm instructed. He didn’t want Reese to catch wind of his investigation. She might feel uncomfortable if she thought he was pring into her past, even though he was certain she had done her own digging into his
If both their identities were extraordinary, then this was shaping up to be quite the intriguing game.

Justin didn’t respond but looked at Malcolm skeptically. Malcolm relined his gave sharply. “What are you staring at?
It’s just that, Mr. Flynn, ever siner you got with Herre, you seems like a completely different person,” Justin observed. Could mariage truly change a man si profoundly? 11 seemed almost inendieivable,
Malcolm scoffed and shot Justin an Iritable glance. Instead of analyzing me, you’d better get moving on that errand.”
Justin hang his head a bit. Im on it right away.
Once lustin had left, Malcolm found himself lost in thought again, to gaze drifting over the documents on his desk. He mulled over Justin’s words, a creeping worry beginning to cloud his thoughts about his future with Reese.
If their backgrounds were straightforward, it would be okay. But the possibility that Reese might be entangled with an organization deeply troubled him, especially if she held significant importance to hem. Extracting her from such a situation would be far from simple.
For so long, he had strived to distance himself from that murky world–an endeavor as futile as trying to keep your hands clean- after plunging them into a barrel of muddy water.
Joining that organization had never been his choice; it was more about safeguarding the Flynn family interests. The Flynns relied on him to hold the fort. Without his intervention, Flynn Enterprises wouldn’t be able to maintain its standing in Atlanta,
Yet, he had never anticipated Reese’s connection to that organizations This added a layer of complication he hadn’t prepared for
Regardless, he was determined to protect Reese and
d extricate her from the mire as soon as possible.
For all Reese knew, Malcolm had only begun to piece together her true identity.
At 7:30 in the evening, Malcolm and Reese arrived punctually at the golden wedding anniversary bash hosted by the Global Macro Group. In contrast, Everly had arrived with Vincent, while Alyssa, who had always been indifferent to such events, especially without a date, didn’t attend.
Standing at the entrance, Malcolm turned to Reese–radiant in a flowing green gown–and said warmly, “Honey, do you believe that tonight, you’ll outshine everyone?”
He could tell she had dressed modestly and applied minimal makeup, But even that couldn’t conceal Reese’s exquisite features. It seemed that her mere presence was enough to captivate onlookers, drawing gazes from both men and women alike.
Reese offered a nonchalant smile, “I’m
“I’m just here to make an appearance with you.”
The thought of being the center of attention didn’t concern her at all Now that she was married to Malcolm, she had to consider his reputation to some degree.
It wouldn’t do to let people gossip about how Malcolm’s Reese didn’t pay enough attention to her image, embarrassing her husband in public.
Malcolm gently tapped Reese’s head and planted a soft kiss on her forehead, his expression filled with tender affection.
The other guests waiting to enter couldn’t help but look an envioush
“Isn’t that the CEO of Flynn Enterprises?”
“And the wunan beside him, that’s his Reese, tight? She’s stunning.
I’ve heard that lady’s background is quite average, and folks are saying she’s not a match for Mr. Flynn.

“Well I don’t see why that should matten Think about it, the Flynn Group has plenty of money. All Plyne needs is someone he likes not necessarily someone from a power couple. If they were both high powered, where would love fit into that spiration?”
Reese took in these words, but they didn’t seem to faxe her.
She turned and hooked her arms in Malcolm’s, “Let’s go in,”
“Yeah, Malcolm said, wrapping his arm around Brese’s shoulders, the two of them looking the very picture of affection. It almost seemed as though Malcolm made this affectionate gesime to show the onlookers that he, Malenim, liked Reese, loved her, no matter what they thought..
