Fall in Love with the Dominant Billionaire
Chapter 316 Abide and Await My Return
Reese found herself ensconced in the rear of the taxi, her mind a whirlpool of thoughts. The decision to inform Malcolm of the current predicament was a dilemma she found herself unable to resolve.
Perhaps it was for the best to keep him in the dark. Revealing the truth might only invite chaos, and her admission into the Harmony Alliance was still a matter of uncertainty.
The fulfillment of Nolan’s stipulations was a prerequisite if she ever hoped to uncover the truth about her biological father.
The scheme was slated for three days hence. She needed to strategize, to concoct a plan that would ensure a successful negotiation and a safe extraction.
Nolan was a crafty character, there was no denying it. He must have dispatched a scout, aware of the trap, using the majority as sacrificial lambs before entrusting her with the mission.
The Harmony Alliance had proven to be a formidable adversary in recent years. Their burgeoning growth had only made them increasingly difficult to topple. Yet, Nolan, fueled by his ambition, sought to be the sole power player in town, constantly scheming to fell this towering entity.
She dialed Calvin’s number, her voice colder and more severe than usual.
“Calvin, abandon your current tasks. There’s a situation that requires your attention.”
Calvin, sensing the urgency in her tone, responded with equal seriousness.
“Reese, what’s the matter?”
“Harmony Alliance. In a few days, assemble a team of strategic minds. Make them aware that this mission… they might enter, but
not return.”
She had to brace herself for the worst possible outcome.
Calvin’s brow furrowed in confusion. “Reese, what’s this all about? Why are you suddenly embroiled with the Harmony Alliance?”
Over the years, they had led a peaceful existence, any threats they faced were usually deflected–typical for their line of work.
But the Harmony Alliance was a dangerous entity, not much better than the lethal organizations they were familiar with.
Reese sighed, a note of resignation in her voice, “You know I’m not a true Brooks. My real father is someone else. Currently, Nolan is the only one who knows my true lineage. I have to go through him, but he’s set this challenge for me–to undertake a project at Harmony Alliance.”
Calvin was taken aback. “Reese, it’s risky dealing with Harmony Alliance… Maybe you shouldn’t go. I could go in your stead.”
“There’s no need,” she retorted sharply, “You won’t be able to handle it.”
Upon hearing the name, Malcolm’s brow furrowed, “Nolan?”
In the entirety of Atlanta, that name was synonymous with an organization infamous to anyone even vaguely acquainted with the underworld.
Their group was at odds with the Harmony Alliance. It was a rivalry that spanned generations, as intense and unyielding as fire and
water.

Chapter 316 Abide and Await My Return
This was turning into a complex situation.
Justin added, “But Reese, she’s safe. She was inside for a few hours and emerged unharmed. Although, Everhart seemed to have followed her in about half an hour later, and they left together.”
“Everhart probably wanted to assist Reese, but given her stubborn nature, she’d never concede to needing help.”
The girl was too prideful, opting to confront and resolve issues independently rather than accept anyone’s assistance.
“Did you manage to find out what they discussed inside?”
“Unfortunately, our people couldn’t gain access.”
The fact that Reese hadn’t detected their surveillance was a minor triumph in itself.
Malcolm sighed, “Then withdraw our team for now.”
“Understood.”
After terminating the call, Malcolm found himself staring at his phone, his finger hovering over Reese’s contact. He refrained from making the call, his restlessness growing.
When had he become so indecisive, so guilt–ridden over a simple phone call?
Just as Malcolm was deliberating whether to dial her number, his phone rang. It was his beloved wife, and her call instantly alleviated his anxiety.
He swiped to answer and cleared his throat, steadying his voice.
“Hello, darling.”
“I’ve concluded my business here, just thought I’d let you know.”
Reese’s voice was steady, and had Malcolm not sent someone to shadow her, he might have believed she’d merely dealt with a minor
issue.
Only he was aware of the perils of that organization and how fortunate she was to have emerged unscathed.
“Alright, I’ll wrap up at work early and head home. Just wait for me there, will you?”
