eyes narrowed, a penetrating gaze that seemed to bore through Vincent’s own, as if she could peer directly into the recesses

Her voice was as chilling as the cold draft in an ice cellar, causing an involuntary shiver to run down Vincent’s spine.
“Are you investigating me?” she asked, her words hanging in the air like a frosty breath.
Vincent was taken aback, swiftly piecing together the true purpose of Reese’s earlier phone call.
He scoffed dismissively, attempting to brush off her accusation. “Reese, there’s no need for such suspicion. I have no financial quarrel with you, nor any reason to keep you under surveillance.”
Yet Reese’s expression remained stern, devoid of any indication that she was joking with Vincent.
“I feel the need to inform you that I take a dim view of those who conspire behind my back. This time, I may overlook it, but if there’s a second instance… I regret to say, you may find yourself excommunicated from the medical profession.”
Despite his unease, Vincent was certain of one thing: he was a man, and he would not be cowed by a woman. If he allowed fear to rule him, how could he ever hold his head high again?
Moreover, he found it hard to believe that Reese wielded such influence.
A skeptical smile played on his lips, masking any trace of anger.
“Really, Reese, are you so self–assured? Or do you now consider yourself the reigning queen of the medical world?”
Reese was irked by Vincent’s constant machinations, his deceit hidden behind a perpetual smile.
“That’s not your concern. Just remember, if I discover you prying into my affairs again, I won’t show mercy.”
She was a woman of her word.
If his actions led to his own downfall, she would wash her hands of the matter.
Vincent, however, remained undeterred. “Don’t fret, Reese. If you wish to keep your secrets, I won’t pry. But I must admit, your association with Nolan did catch me off guard. Is Malcolm aware of it?”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Reese was behind him, a scalpel pressed against his throat before he could react.
“Second Young Master, you should understand the risks of my profession. Don’t underestimate the power of a simple scalpel. A slight puncture here, and I wonder if you’d survive long enough to reach the hospital,” Reese said, her voice steady, her eyes devoid
of emotion.
Vincent hadn’t anticipated Reese’s audacity, threatening him with a scalpel in the heart of the Flynn family estate. He was acutely aware that Reese had the means to end his life.
It appeared she might indeed have ties to Nolan’s organization.
Suppressing his fear, Vincent attempted to placate Reese. “Stay your hand. I merely sought to understand you better.”
Reese’s gaze was unflinching. “Do I need your understanding?”
Her insinuation was clear: was it Vincent’s place to know her? Or should that privilege belong to Malcolm?,

Given Reese’s actions, Vincent had no doubt she would follow through on her threat.
This woman was a force to be reckoned with. Who else would dare such a bold move and still aspire to remain with the Flynn family? It was a fanciful notion.
Many ambitious women dreamed of marrying into the Flynn family, but Reese seemed indifferent.
Reese had no intention of harming Vincent, but she was not about to let anyone manipulate her.
“This time, as you are my husband’s brother, I’ll spare you. But if there’s a next time…”
“I understand, Reese.”
Vincent was acutely aware that he was no match for Reese. He was certain that if he dared to challenge her, his body would succumb to a chilling fear even before his grandfather could intervene.
Reese had spared him, and for that, he was grateful. Vincent released a deep sigh, loosening his tie as he reflected on the electrifying encounter. The adrenaline rush hadn’t yet subsided.
It was evident that Reese was gaining audacity within the Flynn family. If her actions were left unchecked, there was no telling what chaos she might instigate in the future.
How could he possibly contend with Reese and Malcolm single–handedly? He needed reinforcements. It was time for him to seek a companion, a woman who could bolster his career. At least then, Vincent wouldn’t be waging this battle alone.
Upon returning to their quarters, Reese discovered Malcolm sprawled on the bed. Her countenance was grave, having been absent for a considerable duration.
“What’s the matter, dear?” Malcolm inquired.
“I just encountered Vincent. We had a brief exchange,” Reese replied.

Reese refrained from divulging the specifics of their conversation to Malcolm, particularly since it pertained organizational affairs. She had no intention of entangling Malcolm in it. There was chance that Vincent had already grown suspicious, or perhaps discerned a link between Reese and the organization.
“What did he say to you?” Malcolm was intrigued by what Vincent might have disclosed to Reese. He was well aware that Vincent was not one to harbor benevolent intentions.
“Nothing much, we merely engaged in casual banter. Mostly about medical matters,” Reese responded.
This pretext astounded even Reese with its plausibility. After all, it was common knowledge that both Reese and Vincent were part of the medical profession, making it entirely believable that their discourse would center around that.
Malcolm didn’t directly question Reese. “Did he utter anything disagreeable to you?”
Reese burst into sudden laughter. “Do you really believe Vincent could be a match for me?”
No one could rival Reese, be it in a verbal duel or a physical altercation. She had never known fear.
Malcolm enveloped Reese in his arms, tenderly stroking her hair. “Of course not. Who do you think you are? You’re brilliant. Anyone who dares to cross you is courting disaster. I’m just concerned that Vincent might be plotting something sinister. You’re aware of my leg injury and why it hasn’t healed properly. It’s all due to Vincent’s underhanded tactics.”
“I’m aware. Perhaps I was divinely appointed to oppose him,” Reese replied.
Reese was familiar with the circumstances surrounding Malcolm’s leg injury. It was a condition that could have gradually healed, with the prospect of a complete recovery, albeit not swiftly. However, Vincent’s meddling had complicated the treatment and extended the healing period.
“That’s right, my wife is my guardian angel,” Malcolm concurred.

Just as she was poised to depart, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the house. Alyssa, in a state of apparent urgency, descended the stairs at a breakneck pace.
“Reese! Wait!” she cried, her voice echoing through the hallway.
Upon hearing her name, Reese swiveled around to find Alyssa clutching her smartphone, still clad in her pajamas – a testament to her haste. She hadn’t even found the time to change.
Reese cast a cursory glance over Alyssa’s attire and quipped, “Planning on heading to work dressed like that?”

Reese arched an eyebrow in curiosity, “Did you cheat and get caught by your fans?”
“No, it’s about you. There was a news piece this morning. Someone posted information with pictures as evidence. Did you have a boyfriend named Everhart in the past?”
Alyssa’s words hung in the air, causing a palpable shift in Reese’s demeanor. The calm and composed Reese was replaced by a cold, angry version of herself, a transformation so stark that it prompted lyssa to involuntarily step back.
Alyssa, taken aback by Reese’s reaction, cautiously ventured forward and inquired, “Reese, what’s wrong?”
Reese’s countenance hardened instantly. She extended her hand towards Alyssa, “Let me see your phone.”
“Sure.”
As Alyssa handed over the device, Reese scrutinized the screen, her brows furrowing in concentration. She was unsure of the identity of the individual who had posted the information, but they had managed to unearth her past relationship with Everhart.
This was a clear attack on Reese.
Alyssa, noticing the sarcastic smile playing on Reese’s lips, found herself at a loss. She couldn’t comprehend Reese’s reaction.
“Reese, given the circumstances, how can you still manage to smile?”
“It’s nothing. I need to get to work. Here’s your phone.”
Reese returned the phone to a bewildered Alyssa, who stood there, disoriented, as if she had just awakened from a dream. She questioned whether the expressions she had witnessed on Reese’s face were merely figments of her imagination.
Reese’s mastery over her emotions was unparalleled. Despite the recent upheaval, she had managed to regain her composure in no

Upon leaving the Flynn Family residence, Reese didn’t proceed to the office as expected. Instead, she made her way to the secret base, as initially planned with Calvin and his team. She was determined to unmask the individual orchestrating this campaign against her.
After all, some seemed hell–bent on self–destruction, and she couldn’t possibly prevent them from doing so.
