Chapter 329 Check it Out–1
The furrow in Malcolm’s brow eased as Everhart finished speaking. The Harmony Alliance and Nolan have always had a tumultuous relationship,” he mused, “Their rivalry is a test of their abilities.” It was a simple truth.
“Yet, we all know how aggressive Nolan can be, especially as he’s aged,” he added. The blame for the current situation was uncertain. In such scenarios, extreme tactics were often employed. This time, however, Nolan had yet to triumph.
Malcolm’s fingers curled, lightly tapping the back of his chair. “I’ll handle this. You may leave, he commanded.
Everhart watched as Malcolm seemed to relax, his curiosity piqued. You don’t have any ties to the Harmony Alliance, do you?”
“That’s not your concern. Your main task is to keep me informed about Reese. Otherwise, stay away from her,” Malcolm retorted, unwilling to divulge any further information. Everhart had no right to meddle in his affairs.
Malcolm’s aggressive demeanor was enough to stifle any further inquiries about the Harmony Alliance from Everhart. Yet, he held his ground. “You want me to stay away from Reese? That’s impossible. We’ve known each other for over a decade.”
Despite losing contact for five or six years due to certain circumstances, Everhart was not ready to let Reese go. In his eyes, Malcolm and Reese were from two different worlds–Malcolm, perpetually radiant, and Reese, embroiled in struggle since childhood. They were two parallel lines, never destined to intersect.
However, Everhart was unaware of the transformation Reese had undergone during their years apart. Unbeknownst to him, Reese had risen above her painful past through her own abilities.
Now, she stood on equal footing with Malcolm. Whether they belonged to the same world was a matter of their capabilities.
Upon hearing this, Malcolm did not react with anger, but with a derisive sneer. Everhart may have known her for a long time, but it paled in comparison to the profound year Malcolm had spent with her. “You claim to have spent over a decade with her. Yet, why does she react with revulsion and hatred when she sees you? Is this the result of your years together?” Malcolm’s words cut through Everhart like an invisible blade, plunging deep into his heart.
Everhart fell silent, questioning whether his years of dedication had only earned him Reese’s disdain. An awkward silence enveloped them, broken only by the ring of Malcolm’s phone.
A faint smile graced Malcolm’s face as he glanced at the caller ID. He answered the call, not immediately dismissing Everhart. This was a moment Everhart needed to witness.
Malcolm’s previously stern voice softened, as comforting as a warm spring breeze. “Hello, darling today? Did you go out?”
‘hy didn’t you come to the office
“I’m downstairs. I need to pick up a document. Can you send Justin down with it?” Reese’s voice came through the phone. “She had twisted her ankle earlier and was reluctant to climb back up to the 18th floor.
“I can bring it down to you myself,” Malcolm offered eagerly.
“No need. Justin can handle it,” Reese replied. She was aware of the office gossip that would ensue if she was seen at the company, and though she didn’t mind, she had enough on her plate without such distractions.
Malcolm didn’t press the issue. “Alright. I asked Justin to pick up some of your favorite snacks this morning. I’ll send them down with him.”
Reese was taken aback by Malcolm’s thoughtful gesture. “What’s gotten into you today?”
Nothing. I just miss my baby a bit, Malcolm replied, his tone unusually tender. Reese found his change in demeanor strange. It wasn’t his usual style, and she suspected there was an ulterior motive behind his behavior.

Chapter 329 Check it Out-2
Reese was a woman of uncanny intuition, often startlingly accurate to the casual observer, she might have appeared unstable, her moods shifting like the tides. But those who knew her understood that these were not the whims of a capricious mind, but the sh and flow of a deep emotional intelligence. One moment she was her usual self, the next, she was different, her eyes clouded with
concern.
“Are you okay?” she asked, her voice laced with worry.
“I’m good,” Malcolm replied, maintaining a casual conversation with Reese while his gaze remained fixed on Everhart. He noted the deepening pallor of Everhart’s face, a stark contrast to his usual robust complexion.
It was clear to Malcolm that Everhart harbored feelings for his wife, Reese. This was something Malcolm would not tolerate. His wife was his alone, and he would not allow anyone else to covet her.
The only reason Malcolm hadn’t confronted Everhart about his feelings was that he saw some practical value in him. Yet, he had to admit, there was something about Everhart that he couldn’t quite match.
Everhart and Reese’s relationship spanned over a decade, a friendship that had blossomed in their youth. But why had this deep bond transformed into the animosity that now existed between them? This was a question that required further investigation
Malcolm could have asked Everhart directly about the change in their relationship. But given Everhart’s deep affection for him, Malcolm suspected that Everhart would likely remain silent.
Reese, not one to indulge in idle chatter, quickly redirected the conversation back to business. “Hurry up and let Justin bring it
down to me.”
“Alright. I’ll do whatever my wife says. Do I deserve a kiss?”
Reese’s face darkened. What was wrong with him today? But she knew Malcolm well enough to understand that refusing him would
only lead to more demands.
Fortunately, they were alone. Gathering her resolve, Reese leaned in and pecked the phone. “Here’s your kiss.”
Malcolm chuckled, clearly pleased. “Love you, honey.”
“Won’t you ask which file it is?”
“The one you’ve been working on recently. I know. Don’t worry, Justin won’t get it wrong.”
“Yeah.”
With that, Reese finally ended the call. Malcolm pocketed his phone, glancing at Everhart, only to notice the veins on his forehead protruding.
Feigning nonchalance, Malcolm coughed lightly into his fist.
“If you don’t want to run into Reese downstairs, you should leave through the back door.”
It wasn’t that Everhart didn’t want to meet Reese. He was actually afraid to. Reese had been avoiding him, rejecting even the help he wanted to offer. This situation not only gave Everhart a headache but also made him question whether they could ever reconcile.
He scoffed, “Next time Malcolm wants to meet me, could you have your people be a little more polite? If it comes to a fight, your guys will lose out.”
