“Word has it that you had a conflict with Malcolm at the office?‘
Everly’s eyes rolled in exasperation, her voice far from cordial. “You em to be remarkably well–informed.”
“Only to be expected. I have the means to uncover any event within the company, should I choose to do so. I also understand you’re seeking someone to suppress the news?”
A note of suspicion crept into Everly’s mind at Vincent’s inquiry. “Vincent, don’t you find your question somewhat absurd? Naturally, I must seek a way to extricate myself from the headlines. If left unchecked, it could negatively impact the company’s performance. Are you volunteering to handle it?”
Vincent posed a counter–question, “I have but one query for you. Who thrust you into the limelight? You’re not one to be easily manipulated. Why not locate the individual responsible for your publicity and have them rectify the situation? Why squander your own resources?”
A spark of understanding flickered in Everly’s eyes at Vincent’s words “What are you implying?”
“My suggestion is to allow the situation to intensify. Even if our grandfather inquires later, how does it concern you? Let him deal with the one who unveiled it.”
A lightbulb moment struck Everly, “That’s an excellent strategy. I’m eager to witness Reese’s explanation to Grandpa. The Flynn Group’s stocks are already plummeting. Malcolm doesn’t appear inclined to assist me. I wonder what he’s scheming.”
A chuckle echoed from Vincent’s end of the line. “What else could he be contemplating? Malcolm’s thoughts are consumed by Reese, His reluctance to suppress the headlines is due to her.”
Everly’s frustration peaked, “So, as I’ve stated, Malcolm must be under Reese’s spell. He can’t even recognize his own kin.”
“Since time immemorial, heroes have been ensnared by beauty. You should be well aware of that.” Moreover, the beauty in question was someone as exceptional as Reese. It was only logical that Malcolm would succumb to her allure.
At times, Vincent had pondered if he would remain level–headed when confronted with someone like Reese. It seemed unlikely. The crux of the matter was that Reese was simply too valuable.
Hearing Vincent’s words only served to exacerbate Everly’s irritation, leaving her at a loss. However, since Vincent had proposed a solution, it was a silver lining. “Fine, I’ll follow your advice. Upon my return, I’ll discuss it with Grandpa and gauge his response.”
“As long as you have a basic understanding.”
After attending to her affairs, Reese made her way back to the Flynn residence. The moment she stepped into the foyer, she immediately sensed a shift in the atmosphere, particularly upon catching sight of Everly’s smug expression. It didn’t take her long to piece together the events that had transpired.
A secret smile played on her lips. She hadn’t anticipated Everly losing her cool so swiftly and divulging the situation to their grandfather, but it aligned perfectly with her plan.
With an air of tranquility, Reese approached Finn and addressed him respectfully. “Grandpa, I’m heading upstairs.”
“Hold on, Reese. I need to discuss something with you.” Finn’s countenance was grave. This wasn’t Reese’s first encounter with such a predicament.
She halted, facing Finn with a calm demeanor. “What seems to be the issue?”

*Regarding Everly’s predicament, were you the one who leaked the information?” Finn cut to the chase, dispensing with any unnecessary pleasantries. In his view, Reese wasn’t significant enough to warrant any apprehension.
Reese’s countenance held an unsettling edge, a hint of coldness that sent a chill down the spine of those who dared to meet her
gaze.
With a thoughtful nod, Reese confirmed, “Yes.”
The moment the word escaped Reese’s lips, Everly seized the opportunity to speak. “Grandpa, did you hear that? She admitted it. She finally admitted it.”
Reese found Everly’s reaction amusing. “Everly, when I met you today didn’t I already admit it to you?”
Everly was taken aback by Reese’s candid admission in front of their grandfather. Shouldn’t Reese be defending herself? Everly couldn’t help but continue her tirade. ‘Grandpa, now you hear it. Everything is caused by Reese. She exposed my past, and now it’s causing the Flynn Group’s stocks to plummet. Malcolm doesn’t have the time to deal with it.”
Finn, a man who valued profits above all else, was not pleased. He didn’t want Reese and Malcolm’s issues to affect the Flynn Group’s interests. In a fit of anger, he slammed the table and scolded Reese, “You still haven’t learned your lesson, have you? Do you think you’re proud of exposing Everly?”
Reese shook her head, “I didn’t feel proud of exposing her. But what want to say is Grandpa shouldn’t only hold me responsible. What about Everly?”
Everly immediately jumped to her defense. “Reese, stop talking nonsense. Even if I exposed you, it was because you deceived the Flynn family. But I have never hidden anything from them. You are different.”
“Furthermore, did your actions affect the Flynn Group’s stocks?” Everly’s last sentence was crucial, for everyone knew Finn cared most about the Flynn family’s interests. If anyone threatened them, Grandpa would be the first to disapprove.
Reese couldn’t help but find Everly’s words amusing.
“Based on what you’re saying, as long as it doesn’t threaten the Flynn Group’s interests, it’s okay to expose someone’s privacy. Moreover, how many of the things you exposed about me to Shirley are true? Perhaps you don’t even know.”
“Reese! We’re talking about your actions now. Don’t change the subject. Even if Everly is in the wrong for exposing your private matters, she can apologize to you. But now, I have to figure out whether you’ve exposed her and it has affected the company’s interests.” Finn interjected, his anger palpable, his demeanor stern.
Reese was unfazed by Finn’s words. Finn had always been like this, biased against Everly. But today, she was determined to make both Grandpa and Everly understand the consequences of their actions.
Reese’s gaze was unwavering and fearless as she met Finn’s stare. “What will Grandpa do with me?”
Everly was taken aback by Reese’s words. Reese surrendering so quickly, giving in to fate? Everly knew Reese to be a fighter, not one to back down easily. What was Reese thinking?
Finn was also caught off guard by Reese’s sudden question, but since it was brought up, he had to go along with it. He had been considering what to do if Reese had a stubborn temper and didn’t comply with the arrangement. But now it seemed like he was overthinking it.
Grandpa sat solemnly in his chair before announcing, “In light of you exposing Everly’s personal affairs without permission, you’ll be solely responsible for all the household chores for the Flynn family. And at the company, you’ll voluntarily work overtime for a month as a way to make up for the losses.”
