Reese found herself wrestling with the implications of Nolan’s ties to the Harmony Alliance, a thought that had begun to consume her. The mere possibility of Malcolm’s association with the organization sent a shiver of unease down her spine.
In the past, she might have dismissed such concerns without a second thought. However, now that Malcolm had confessed his feelings for her and they had embarked on a relationship, she found herself forced to consider the implications.

anxieties.
Malcolm rose from his seat, turning to find Reese deep in thought. He reached out, tenderly brushing her cheek with his hand, and asked, “What’s troubling you?”
Reese responded with a dismissive wave, “Oh, nothing much. I see you’re swamped with work, yet you seem so full of energy. Have you been taking some sort of health supplement?” She attempted to mask her vulnerability with a light–hearted jest.
Malcolm returned her jest with a warm smile, “Indeed, I have been taking a health supplement that keeps me energized every day.”
Intrigued, Reese teased, “Well then, you must share your secret with me.”
Malcolm’s reply was simple, yet profound, “It’s you.”
Caught off guard, Reese playfully swatted at Malcolm. He made no move to dodge or deflect, instead allowing her to express her playful indignation.
Drawing Reese into his embrace, a low, husky chuckle escaped from Malcolm. As the moments passed, Reese found herself relaxing in his arms, a peaceful tranquility enveloping them both.
Resting against Malcolm’s chest, the rhythmic cadence of his heartbeat and the soft whisper of his breath comforted her.
With Malcolm, Reese had finally discovered a sense of security and belonging. Grandpa Robert had once likened Reese to a piece of floating duckweed, aimlessly drifting without a place to call home. Yet, now, she no longer felt that sense of aimlessness.
As Malcolm gently stroked Reese’s hair, a question suddenly occurred to him. “Is there something my wife hasn’t shared with me? Like a plan to turn the tables and catapult Flynn Group’s stocks to the top?”
Earlier, while Reese was showering, Malcolm had checked the company’s stocks but had refrained from manipulating the data. Although he was capable of doing so, he chose not to, as it required a level of technical expertise and knowledge that most hackers lacked.
Reese, however, had no intention of withholding this information from him. With a calm demeanor, she confessed, “I picked up a few things here and there. I saw how skilled others were and it sparked a sense of envy in me. I found some online tutorials and gradually honed my skills through self–study.”
Malcolm couldn’t help but chuckle at her casual tone. “My dear, if top–tier hackers heard you speak so nonchalantly, they’d be humbled.”
Hacking wasn’t a skill that everyone could master. It demanded not only talent and extensive knowledge but also exceptional focus and quick reflexes.
Just the day before, Reese had managed to infiltrate the Flynn Groups backend. Had the company’s hackers detected her, the

consequences could have been catastrophic. They could have initiated a counter–investigation and traced her current location. It was a high–risk move, but she had successfully accomplished her mission. Once the alarm was raised, escape would have been impossible.
Reese earnestly reassured Malcolm, “I promise I’m not exaggerating. That’s exactly how it happened.” She wanted Malcolm to understand that she was being truthful.
Reese had a passion for learning and often became obsessive when faced with a challenge, a trait that was occasionally coupled with a touch of OCD. Malcolm admired his wife’s brilliance and capabilities. She was a woman who valued honesty and shunned exaggeration.
Malcolm was immensely proud of Reese’s knowledge and abilities. His faith in her was unwavering, and he held onto her hand and waist tightly, unwilling to let her go.
Suddenly, he changed the subject, saying, “Tomorrow, I need to find Justin.”
Reese looked at him, puzzled. “Why are you looking for Justin?”
“I spent a fortune to hire a hacker who managed to infiltrate the company’s system within ten minutes. So, I think I should fire them all and find Justin,” Malcolm suggested, hinting at the possibility of finding someone more competent for the job.
Reese, the esteemed business leader of the Flynn Group, commanded a significant amount of respect within the corporate sphere. The company under her leadership had not only garnered attention but also attracted the unsavory interest of unethical entities.
Over the years, they had been the unfortunate target of numerous hacking attempts, each one aimed at breaching their backend systems and pilfering their files on a daily basis.
Reese was acutely aware of the value of the company’s security and its assets. To combat these threats, she had invested heavily in assembling a team of skilled hackers. These individuals had proven their worth time and again, earning their salaries by maintaining the company’s impregnable security system. Until now, the system had remained unbreached.
However, a memory of a previous breach surfaced in Reese’s mind, one that she suspected she was responsible for, including the
most recent one.
Feigning remorse, Reese’s inner satisfaction shone through her pretense. “I apologize for causing trouble for Malcolm once more,” she said, her voice laced with insincerity.
Malcolm, playing along, lightly tapped her head in a show of mock severity. “What did you call me, Reese? Call me honey.”
“Honey…” Reese echoed, her obedience unusual yet pleasing to Malcolm.
Malcolm found Reese’s reaction quite satisfying. “Good girl. Since my wife is being so well–behaved today, how about doing me another favor?” he proposed.
Reese, already anticipating his request, didn’t wait for him to elaborate. “Are you asking me to design the company’s security system?”
Malcolm cherished Reese’s intelligence. Her ability to understand his intentions with just a glance rendered unnecessary words obsolete. They were a perfectly compatible couple, and Malcolm was certain that no one could be more suitable for him than his wife.
With a loving embrace, Malcolm pulled Reese close and planted a kiss on her. “You are so smart.”
“But there is one question you need to answer honestly,” Reese said, her face losing its previous ease and replacing it with a cold, serious demeanor. This sudden shift in mood caught Malcolm off guard.
