Chapter 40 So It Was Mr. Flynn’s Wife-
After the dance, Reese took a bow on stage, and the crowd went wild with applause and endless compliments.
“Oh my
God, that dance was absolutely stunning. That young lady was as graceful and elegant as a swan.”
“I suddenly realize that playing the piano can’t compare to dancing
“She must be some family’s precious daughter who they usually keep hidden away like a treasure.”
All the haters who doubted Reese earlier were all dead silent now.
Meanwhile, Dahlia and Nancy were in the audience, looking like they’d just seen a devil. Neither could believe what they were seeing.
Dahlia was the first to snap out of it, her face full of disbelief.
“Mom, whe
what did we just see? Was that Reese?”
That dance, that light and agile figure, could only come from years of hardcore practice.
Dahlia knew a bit about dance herself, but she hadn’t practiced in ages and felt stiff as a board. Ballet, especially, needed top–notch fitness and Пexibility.
Nancy was also in a daze, her face pale.
“Y–Yeah, but she seemed like a completely different person. Her demanor on stage was nothing like her usual self.”
A question suddenly popped into Dahlia’s mind.
“Is she really from the countryside?”
Reese had just finished changing backstage and was about to bounce when Harold Garcia stepped in front of her.
“Miss, I’m a director. Your demeanor and appearance perfectly match what we’re looking for in an actress. Would you consider it?”
Reese politely declined the business card he offered.
“Sorry, I’m not cut out to be an actress. Thanks for the offer.”
As she spoke, she tried to sidestep Harold to leave. The nearby staff were floored.
“Who is this woman? She just turned down Harold’s invitation. He’s launched so many careers. Anyone he picks, if they’re talented, becomes a huge star. Even those who aren’t that talented end up in the top tiers. Does she pet know who he is?”
“Maybe she doesnt. Otherwise, how could she refuse such a big director’s invitation?”
Harold was pretty
ty chill about it. He was confident that anyone he set his sights on would eventually sign with him. Maybe this girl just didn’t recognize
He pulled out another business card. “It’s alright, Miss, you might be cautious around strangers, which is understandable. Here’s my card. If you ever change your mind, feel free to contact me
Reese wanted to get back to the hull quickly, otherwise, Malcolm would start looking for her.

She reached out
Take the card, but just as she was about to grab someone else snatched it away.

Both Harold and Reese looked over in confusion. Malcolm had arrived at some point and was now holding the card, glancing at it.
Reese asked him, “Why did you come backstage?”
“I couldn’t find you. The statt said you were here, so I came over,” said nonchalantly.
Reese then noticed that he was wearing a black tailored suit today. His features were perfect, his lines sharp, exuding a strong masculine aura. The imposing air around him gave off a natural sense of nobility and distance, completely different from the playful demeanor he had shown her that night.
Harold, of course, recognized Malcolm. Such a prominent figure was hot only famous in the business world but also a legendary figure in their film industry, influencing the entire economy of Atlanta, Who wouldn’t know him?
“Mr. Flynn, what a pleasure to meet you. May I ask who this beautiful young lady is?
“My wife,” he said, raising an eyebrow, his voice full and carrying a hint of pride.
Harold finally snapped back to reality and laughed at himself.
“No wonder this young lady turned me down, she’s Mr. Flynn’s wife

They didn’t need money, so naturally, she wouldn’t be interested in the film industry.
Malcolm quickly tried to dismiss Harold.
Harold, if there’s nothing else, we’ll be on our way.”
With t
that, Malcolm took Reese’s slightly cool hand and held it tightly in his palm.
Harold could only step aside respectfully and say politely, “Alright.”
Reese, being quick–witted, started pushing Malcolm’s wheelchair towards the hall. Malcolm fiddled with the watch on his other wrist, his tone indifferent, making it hard to guess his emotions at the moment.
“Im really honored today to see my wife’s true colors.”
His words were a bit sarcastic and somewhat bitter. Reese couldn’t see his face, so she didn’t know if he was angry. But he had every right to be she had indeed hidden her true appearance.
However, she had already thought of a reasonable excuse. She never did anything without a plan.
Reese curved her lips into a smile, her tone light,
“Isn’t it a pleasant surprise?”
Malcolm shrugged,
shrugged, but his tone was tinged with coldness.
“It is quite a surprise.”
They shared a bed every night and although they hadn’t had sex, he should at least know what his wife looked like..
Reese’s
twitched. Judging by his tone, he was probably angry. She bent down, wrapped her arms around his neck, and changed her previously serious demeanor. Dealing with men required complexity and unpredictability, making them unsure of your temperament and hesitant to provoke or underestimate you.
“Well, I was suddenly married off to you by my dad. How was I supposed to know if you had any weird habits? What if you were abusive or had strange preferences? If I looked a bit ugly, you wouldn’t do anything to me,
He remained unmoved, letting
tting out a cold snort.
“Do you think I hasn’t seen any beautiful women before? How could you come up with that?”
“I was just worried. But seeing how handsome, elegant, and especially caring you are, I feel relieved.”
Reese started to flatter him, a skill she had picked up from Calvin.
Malcolm could see through her flattery, but somehow, it was still pleasing to hear.
If she wanted to play this game, he would play along.
He began to bring up old grievances. “Who was it that treated me like a devil a few days ago, not even letting me touch them?”
“We both know that I married you because of the engagement between cur grandfathers. Mr. Flynn is born noble; even if he were to

marry, it should be to a socialite. How could someone like me, from the countryside, possibly spend a lifetime with you?”
Reese lowered her status, trying to make Malcolm clear that their mariage was only temporary and wouldn’t last. She didnt want to spend her days in a wealthy family, constantly scheming against other women. It was too exhausting.
She preferred freedom, with no one to restrain her, doing
whatever
wanted.
The Flynn family had many relatives, and in the future, she would lievitably have to deal with those eccentric relatives, constantly scheming. It was
tiring.

She had indeed grown up in the countryside, so she was used to a free and easy life. If she had to stay in this environment forever, it would be like being in a cage.
For some reason, Malcolm felt a faint anger rising in his heart when he heard Reese’s words, his brows furrowing tightly.
“Who I want to marry and spend my life with doesn’t depend on their family background. Even if she’s from the countryside, as long as I like her, that’s all that matters.”
