Chapter 68 Let My Wife Sleep More

Malcolm’s voice was cool and distant, his thick brows arched, his deep and alluring eyes emanating a sense of danger

I haven’t even dealt with you for kidnapping my wife, and now you dare ask for my help?”

Alyssa was stunned, unable to reconcile the gentle Malcolm she had just seen with the intimidating figure before her

In front of Reese, he had been gentle as a lamb, careful with his tone, but with Alyssa, he seemed indifferent. Were they still family at all

After Malcolm left, Alyssa was still in shock, her mind reeling. She had tried to assist them both, so why did she end up feeling like she couldn’t do anything right

She tugged at her hair in irritation, muttering to herself about the day’s complexities

What are these two up to?”

And Malcolm, he wasn’t like this before. Why did it suddenly feel like he had become a completely different person

Reese retreated to her room and tucked herself into bed, wrapping the covers tight to ward off any possibility of Malcolm disturbing her sanctuary

Malcolm wasn’t in the mood to tease her anymore. It was late, and all he wanted was for Reese to get some sleep. If the servants or Grandpa found out she was still awake at this hour, they’d definitely scold her

That girl had a fiery temper. The word yieldjust wasn’t in her vocabulary. When it came to doing what she wanted or saying what was on her mind, not even the Almighty could stop her

Malcolm wondered if her stubbornness was a blessing or a curse. At her age, shouldn’t she need someone to protect her? Yet she seemed to need no protection, tough as nails

Switching off the light, Malcolm turned to her and said, Goodnight, sweetheart.”

Reese ignored him on purpose. Engaging him now would only wind her up, and she wasn’t up for that

The next morning, Malcolm was having breakfast in the dining hall when Finn Sawyer asked him, Where’s Reese?”

Still asleep, he replied

Finn Sawyer’s face darkened instantly. What time is it, and she’s still in bed? Sandra, go wake her up, will you?”

Yes, sir, Sandra said, turning to head upstairs, but Malcolm suddenly called out to stop her

Let it be. Let my wife sleep in. She had a rough night.”

Finn Sawyer

Everyone at the table looked at Malcolm with astonished eyes, and Sandra stood frozen, unable to believe that these words had come from the master himself

Alyssa was also stunned. Wow Malcolm’s voice was so tender when he spoke those words, it sent warm ripples through her heart

She wouldn’t have guessed that Malcolm, usually so reserved, could be so smooth with romantic talk. She wondered if her own defenses could hold up against his charm

Chapter 68 Let My Wife Sleep More

Finn Sawyer was just as incredulous. Reese had married into the family not long ago, and she’d already transformed his grandson. In all his seventy or eighty years, he had never heard Malcolm speak with such a tone. It was always all business, every conversation

strict and serious

Yet with Reese, he was unbelievably tender

Overhearing this, Everly felt a surge of anger

Brother, aren’t you spoiling that girl too much?she fumed. The Flynn family has never tolerated late risers. Why should the rules be broken for her? What gives her the right?”

Because I say so,Malcolm responded with confidence. She’s my wife now. Don’t I have the right to let her sleep a little longer? Unless you can find me an exact replacement if she’s not wellrested”

Brother, youyou used to dislike her so much,Everly hissed, her face flushed with anger and at a loss for words. She’s plain, without a family background, not good enough for you!”

Chapter 68 Let My Wife Sleep More

Everly was so visibly upset, words seemed to fail her, but it was clear she was infuriated

Malcolm bristled at the comment as if a raw nerve had been struck, His dark eyes ablaze with an icy hostility. Whether or not someone is worthy isn’t for you to decideit’s my call, he declared with a steely resolve. To Malcolm, it mattered not whether the person he chose was good or bad, beautiful or plain; he was committed to the person, not their exterior shell

His time with Reese was genuinely comforting, and that was all the stification he needed

Meanwhile, Reese descended the stairs, having overheard the conversation above. Malcolm had stood up for her in front of Grandpa Flynn, setting ripples across the calm pond of her heart, albeit momentarily. However, her emotions were not so easily swayed

She wasn’t about to be seduced by Malcolm’s smooth talk and glib charm

Alyssa, sharpeyed, noticed Reese’s arrival and hurried to greet her with excessive eagerness. You’re up, sis! Come, I saved you breakfast. It’s still warm.Alyssa guided Reese to sit beside her and even started to peel a boiled egg for her

Everly watched in disbelief, questioning if the Flynns had suddenly become a bunch of quirky characters. First, it was Malcolm; now Alyssa joined in

Everly stood up, her gaze burning with annoyance. What has gotten into everyone today? Has this brat fed you some kind of love potion?”

It was odd enough with Malcolm, but Alyssa, who famously disliked Reese, was suddenly doting over the brat? What on earth was happening

Alyssa quirked an eyebrow, To be honest, sis is pretty alright. We just got her wrong before. She narrowed her eyes endearingly at Reese and passed her the peeled egg. Eat this for now, I can peel more if you want.”

Unbeknownst to the others, Reese knew exactly what Alyssa was up to. She wanted Reese’s help with gaming, especially since yesterday’s agreement no longer stood. Nevertheless, Reese had made promises to her fans and wasn’t one to go back on her word

The egg might be Alyssa’s way of apologizing, but it didn’t mean Reese was ready to forgive. Unreliable people grated on her, and she steered clear of them. Otherwise, she couldn’t count the number of times she would’ve been betrayed

No need, one is enough.Reese’s response was cool and nonchalant, her demeanor unchanged despite Alyssa’s newfound enthusiasm

Okay, okay, Alyssa replied, not offended in the least but rather compliant with Reese’s wishes

Finn Sawyer was starting to feel uneasy about the situation. Despite Reese being somewhat out of her league marrying into the Flynn family a small and tightlyknit group now both Alyssa and Malcolm seemed to have switched sides, showing a conspicuous favoritism towards her

if things kept on like this, Reese might soon surpass his own standing and start calling the shots in the Flynn household

With a gentle cough to announce his seriousness, Finn said to Malcolm, Follow me for a sec.”

Before leaving, Malcolm didn’t forget to hand over his portion of eggs to Reese

Here, honey, eat up,he said warmly

Alyssa pouted in protest, Bro, aren’t you playing favorites? Just now you wouldn’t even share your eggs with me.”

What do you need extra nutrition for with all that gaming you do every day?”

Alyssa fell silent, taken aback by the blatant favoritism. However, who could blame them when Reese was so adept at gaming? She had looked it up online only yesterday and discovered that Reese had actually won the championship in the last Arena of Valor
