Chapter 72 Has Mr. Flynn Lost His Mind Over Madame?
At that, Malcolm’s expression darkened a shade, his voice laced with severity.
“Could she have gone out?”
No. I was supposed to have lunch with her because she said she had an upset stomach, so I waited downstairs. She never came down, and I even checked the bathroom–no sign of her.”
Alyssa carefully omitted her search for the document room to avoid her brother’s probing.
Malcolm turned to Justin Chabon, giving quick orders:
“Start a search party. Ask if any colleagues have seen Reese. If we can’t find her, get everyone in the company on it.”
Alyssa exchanged a look with Justin Chabon, their eyes wide with disbelief. Had Mr. Flynn completely lost his cool over Madam?
Calm had replaced Alyssa’s earlier bluster. “Look, bro, you really don’t need to get so worked up. Your wife’s not a kid; she can handle herself. She’ll be fine.”
“It’s my wife who’s missing; of course, I’m freaked out.” Malcolm’s voice was laced with barely concealed urgency. When his piercing gaze swept over Alyssa, she shivered involuntarily.
Feeling like they were third wheels, Alyssa and Justin couldn’t help but feel a bit sour on the inside.
Alyssa volunteered her exit strategy. “I’ll go check some other places for her. I’m out of here.”
“Get your team to help with the search, Malcolm commanded in a deep tone.
Alyssa pouted, muttering to herself, “I’m already doing them a favor by looking. Now you want my crew to join the hunt? No way am I taking that hit to my pride.”
Justin’s eye twitched as he delicately offered a piece of advice to Malcolm. “Mr. Flynn, Madam will come back. Maybe we should keep a lid on the cold CEO image. If word gets out you’re whipped, it might dent your reputation.”
“What do I care about others‘ opinions? Only my wife will be with me for life. Don’t waste time here–get moving and find her.”
Malcolm was completely ensnared by thoughts of Reese; she was all he could see, all that was in his heart.
Justin nudged Malcolm, and they hurried out of the office. Reese waited until she heard the door close before she allowed herself to breathe a sigh of relief.
Yet, the words Malcolm had just uttered left her with an indescribable feeling in her heart. She had thought perhaps he had been nice to her only in hopes that she would heal his leg. But now, it seemed he truly saw her as his wife. And here she was, planning to leave as soon as she cleared up the mystery surrounding her grandmother.
Reese, who always followed her own path, suddenly found herself unsettled by someone else’s words.
Silently, she pushed open the door to the cloakroom and made her way to Malcolm’s desk.
Now it was up to her, if she just walked out and got caught on camera, no explanation would clear her name.
Shrugging helplessly, Reese thought to herself, “Sorry, Malcolm, look like I’ve got to crash the Flynn Group’s system on this floor…
again.

While attempting the password, her first few tries were incorrect. Not Malcolm’s birthday, nor his phone number, not those of Zhan Lin, Alyssa, or Everly worked.
She had run through all the possibilities to no avail.
With only one password attempt left, she gambled on it, punching in the numbers. To her astonishment, it clicked open.
Malcolm had used her birthday as the password. Why would he do that?
But this was no time for questions. She had to move fast, to breach the next layer of security.
Reese was laser–focused, her fingers flying over the keyboard. In less than two minutes, the tech team at the Flynn Group noticed the fresh intrusion.
They scrambled to intercept, but Reese smirked with a sly satisfaction. Did they really think these amateurs could stop her?
The tech department was in disarray, forced to alert Malcolm.
Malcolm and Justin Chabon rushed over, radiating anger, with piercing eyes.
“What happened?”
“Mr. Flynn, we’ve called in everyone from the tech team, but the attacker’s evading skills are beyond us. We can hardly hold them off,” a technician reported. “They’ll break through our defenses in under a minute.”
Justin Chabon was stunned, “Who could it be? Even with the best hackers in the world on our payroll, could it be someone from the earlier breach?”
“No, the person earlier had sloppy execution, likely inexperienced. But this one, if they get through our firewalls, it’d take the entire evening to recover. And if our rivals learn our system’s compromised, they’ll steal our secrets.”
The situation was growing dire.
The air around Malcolm grew icy as the tech department’s tension mounted.
“Keep stalling,” Malcolm ordered. “If they’re after the surveillance on that floor, it means they’re still on the seventeenth. Justin, secure that floor. Make sure no one gets out.”
“Understood.”
Reese quickly caught on to their delay tactic. Malcolm must have figured her out.
She had to pick up the pace. But their little tricks wouldn’t hold her back.
She crashed their system, then powered off and made her escape.
just as she stepped into the elevator, she noticed someone had beat her to this floor. Malcolm was faster than she expected.
Glancing around, she bolted for the bathroom.
Malcolm and his team swept the floor, sparing no corner–not even the server room they had just secured. Malcolm felt the machine
It was still war.
Justin Chabon saw the storm gathering in Mr. Flynn’s expression.

“What’s wrong, Mr. Flynn?”
“Did that person just hack into our company’s system using this computer?”
Justin’s face drained of color. It slipped through our fingers, right under our noses?”
Malcolm’s eyes gleamed with a dangerous intensity as he barked sharply, “What good is it to have you all here if someone can cripple our system right under your watch?”
Justin saw Malcolm’s sudden outburst and instinctively shrank back, his voice lost in his throat.
Nothing like this had ever happened at their company; even when competitors had hired hackers to try to breach their security, they’d never succeeded. And yet, now it had happened right inside their own building. Malcolm’s handsome face was ashen, his lips a tight line.
Justin scrambled for an excuse. “I’ll get on it and lock down this floor tight. Whoever it is hasn’t left yet. Rest assured. Mr. Flynn, I’ll bring the culprit to you.”
“If you don’t bring me that person, don’t bother showing up tomorrow!”
In that moment, a cloak of darkness seemed to engulf the man, his deep–set eyes clouded over with a foreboding storm, making the office temperature dip precipitously.
“Yes, sir!” Justin bolted, his only thought to escape the lethal look in Mr. Flynn’s eyes.
The man was downright terrifying when angry.
Justin sent his team to comb every nook and cranny of the floor, not sparing even the stairwells, when someone approached him.
“We’ve already searched the men’s restroom. Should we check the women’s as well?”
“Why wouldn’t we? If our hacker is hiding out there, we’re all out of a job come morning!”
