Chapter 75 I Don’t Like Women
The next second, the door was flung open. Alyssa looked at Reese and Malcolm and immediately sensed that the atmosphere in the office was off.
A pit formed in her stomach. Had her brother found out about the errand Reese had her run with the man from the archives department?
Alyssa hurried to explain, “Listen, it’s not what you think. It wasn’t Reese who went to see that guy; it was for a friend of hers. She really wasn’t going behind your back.”
Reese’s heart sank. Right now, she wished she could just tape Alyssas mouth shut.
She was living up to her surname indeed.
Malcolm’s previously eased brow furrowed again as his piercing eyes swept over Alyssa and Reese.
“Which guy? What are you two hiding from me?”
Seeing Malcolm’s puzzled look, Alyssa covered her mouth in shock.
“This is bad. Malcolm, you don’t know? Then what were you just…”
Reese gave Alyssa a look and made a throat–slitting gesture.
You’re done for.
Alyssa wished she could turn back time. She would have kept her mouth shut.
Knowing Reese wouldn’t crack under pressure – her mental fortitude was much stronger than most – Malcolm turned his questioning to Alyssa.
“If you want your paycheck this month, you’d better spill the beans.
Alyssa was used to living large, spending as she pleased, and her director’s salary was hardly enough for her shopping sprees, let alone a new handbag. Malcolm used to transfer funds into her account every month.
If Malcolm cut her off, it would be a financial disaster for her.
This wasn’t her fault. If only Reese had given her a hint, she wouldn’t have blabbed and possibly angered Malcolm.
Alright, the truth is Reese…”
Alyssa recounted the story to Malcolm, who listened with a mix of skepticism and curiosity.
“You’re sure it’s just her friend who’s interested in the archives guy, and you were helping out?*
“What else could it be? 1 waited at the door for so long. Reese said she felt sick, and then you… you got robbed.”
Alyssa’s voice trailed off, becoming quieter as she realized how unlucky Malcolm had been. Someone dared to pull a fast one right
under his nose.
Malcolm pondered for a moment, then glanced at Reese, his long fingers resting on his thigh.
Chapter 751 Don’t Like Women
“Yeah, just a brief fight, and suddenly there’s a thief in the archives Too much of a coincidence.”
Even the naive Alyssa could read between the lines of Malcolm’s insinuation. Her eyes widened.
“Reese, are you suspecting Reese is the thief? Impossible!”
She laughed out loud, looking up.
“You might believe it of Justin Chabon, but Reese… look at her. She doesn’t fit the bill of a thief, and frankly, I don’t think she’s that
clever.
Reese, who had been holding back her laughter, found Alyssa’s antics amusing. Her time pretending to be less than she was had paid off, at least for today. Otherwise, Malcolm would have kept digging
Others might be fooled, but Malcolm was another story. He had seen too many wolves in sheep’s clothing. For now, though, he seemed to have hit a dead end with his questioning.
“Everyone get back to work. Justin Chabon, stay behind.”
Alyssa exchanged a look with Reese, and they both left the office..
Once in the elevator, Alyssa couldn’t contain her excitement and grabbed Reese’s hand.
“Did I do well just now?”
“You practically sold me out, and you’re asking for credit? Didn’t you see the way Malcolm was looking at me? He was about to
devour me.”
While Alyssa had helped diffuse a critical situation, Malcolm would surely investigate which friend of Reese’s was interested in the archives guy. Only Alyssa would be naive enough to believe her.
Malcolm, cunning as a fox, was just short of evidence. Once he had time to think it through, he would understand everything.
Alyssa pouted, “I did my best, Reese. You can’t back out now.”
She clung to Reese’s hand, ignoring Reese’s signaling eyes, refusing to let go.
Reese had no choice but to give in. If she didn’t, Alyssa might spill something to Malcolm.
“I promise you, okay? Can you let go now?”
“Really? That’s great, thanks, Reese.”
Alyssa, elated, went to plant a kiss on Reese’s cheek but was swiftly dodged.
Reese warned her coldly, “Don’t be like Malcolm, getting handsy with me. I don’t like women.”
Alyssa caught the keyword and smirked.
“So, you and Malcolm have already…”
Reese almost stamped the word “idiot” on Alyssa’s forehead.
‘Don’t you know Malcolm can’t move around well?”

Alyssa suddenly remembered, Right, so you guys can’t… you know. Reese, you better hurry up and get Malcolm’s leg fixed so you can have your wedding night.”
Reese saw that Alyssa’s mind was off track.
“Have you never been in love? Where did you learn such risqué language?”
Alyssa chuckled, scratching her head, “Just because I haven’t done it doesn’t mean I don’t know how it works.”
I’m going out on business. Call in sick for me.”
Reese needed to arrange things with Calvin to prevent Malcolm from catching her off guard.
Alyssa leaned in, her curiosity piqued, “You’re not still hung up on that archives guy, are you? Be careful, or Malcolm will find out. Once his leg’s healed, the first thing he’ll do is take care of you.”
Reese rolled up her sleeves, a stern warning in her eyes.
“Believe me, if you say one more word, I’ll take care of you first.”
Alyssa immediately recoiled. She didn’t dare provoke Reese, having seen her in action.
“Then… you go ahead.”
Reese patted Alyssa’s head with a smile.
I’ll cover your live stream tonight.”
Alyssa watched Reese get into her car and then turned back to the office.
After Reese got into the car, she called Calvin, her usual smile fading away, leaving a cold expression on her delicate face.
“Meet me at the hideout later and gather everyone. I have orders for you.”
“Boss, are you okay? Did anyone catch on?”
Calvin’s voice was anxious. He had been an edge, not daring to call in case he accidentally tipped off Reese during a critical
moment.
The mention of the incident irked Reese, and she replied irritably.
“Thanks to you, Malcolm’s starting to suspect me now.”
